5 stars – Romantic Suspense/Erotica/BDSM/Ménage

Sarah’s Seduction delivers more ménage hijinks and sexual excess from the dysfunctional, desperately in need of some therapy August brothers. I liked it much better than Marly’s Choice, mainly because the H/H, Brock and Sarah, were a lot more tolerable (even likable) and less ‘wanna throw the book across the room at their idiocy’ inducing than Cade and Marly.

Although Brock is an alpha hero, he’s emotionally expressive, tender, sweet, and caring, and he at least recognizes that he and his brother’s need to share their woman as a way to cope with the demons and nightmares from their past abuse is messed up. Brock isn’t nearly as dominating and forceful as some of Leigh’s alpha heroes, and compared to his brother Cade, he’s practically a beta softy. Sarah was a nice match and equal companion for Brock, and she showed some spine and grit, especially compared to whiny, clingy, annoying Marly.

This story dove deeper into the reasons behind the August brothers’ compulsion and need to share their women as a way to express their love for each other, and although I still think it’s a bit (okay a lot) nuts, it definitely makes for one scorching hot, wickedly erotic read in true LL style. It also showed growth in Cade and Marly’s relationship and a hint of the beginning of some healing for the brothers, largely due to Brock’s openness and the addition of Sarah into their circle. The stalker threat becomes even more twisted and dangerous this time, the suspense heats up, and it ends on a cliffhanger. I’m eager to read Sam’s story in Heather’s Gift to discover who’s after the August clan and whether or not the brothers can finally find some relationship peace, once and for all. 5 stars.

I am torn with this book. I think I have a love/hate relationship with the August men. First, let me say that I really liked Brock. He is definately sexy, and like almost all Lora Leigh books he is a likeable-hell even loveable Alpha hero.

I even thought he was well matched with Sarah. She was weak at first, but as the book progressed she became stronger as a person and was well matched for sexy Brock.

Here was my problem with the book...I guess to some, the set up in the August household would be some women's fantasy...three sexy brothers (of course all have hang up by the abuse they endured together) having to openly share one another's girlfriends, then come back to you afterward...ummm not for me. I'm too selfish, plus I don't want to see the one I love boinking another woman...even if she is your would be sister-in-law. I didn't blame Sarah for putting up the good fight, and not wanting to conform to this. But, If you want an August man, you must be prepared to be shared with the other brothers...its all or nothing.

Of course, I know this is fantasy. But, although I have read several menage books-and admittedly they aren't always my favorite-the excuse for the sharing didn't cut it for me much. But this is my opinion. But, oddly I really liked this book. I thought it was much better than Colters' Woman. I liked the characters and I even look forward to reading the others...despite my feelings on the sharing business...I told you I had a love/hate relationship with them...how can I resist them...lol

Women who crave sex so badly that they beg for it disgusts me. Men who force their women to become their sex slaves and go on to coerce them to be shared with other men (even if its their tortured brothers) disgusts me even more. What was it with the women in these books that they so willingly gave in to their bodily cravings? And what was it with the men that they so perversely shared their one true love with other men? Wake up people! It's not true love for heaven's sake - it's just hormones.

The story continues... Sarah's Seduction can be read independently, but Leigh does not spend a lot of time in this book recapping the back story and redrawing the characters that were introduced in Marly's Choice. In Sarah's Seduction, more of the brothers' history, and its psychological impact, is revealed.

Again, Leigh takes a classic theme - older man desires adolescent but waits in frustration for her eighteenth birthday, then is conflicted about having a relationship with an inexperienced virgin - and she rewrites the tale when 18-year-old Sarah runs from the intense, alpha-male Brock and marries someone else to put herself out of his reach.

Six years later, she's divorced and wants one night of passion with Brock August... He wants to play for keeps and share her with his brothers.

Sarah is not going to play his game, but Brock is willing to bare his soul and the August brothers' dark history to gain her understanding and cooperation. What he reveals is pretty sick stuff and certainly evokes compassion for these guys.

Meanwhile, they have a new stalker... or so it seems. There is no resolution to this problem by the end of Sarah's Seduction, so you've got to read Heather's Gift, which you'll want to do anyway to fully understand what drives and haunts the August brothers.

The title for this book should probably be "Sarah's Seduction (Men of August, Part 2)." Never before have I seen a series that a) must be read in order and b) must be read in its entirety to truly be appreciated and understood (with an exception for "August Heat" in the "Twelve Quickies of Christmas" anthology - that book just gives us an HEA epilogue).

I recommend getting all three books (Marly's Choice, Sarah's Seduction, and Heather's Gift) and reading them back-to-back because you'll want to read Marly's Choice to get the characters and the back story, and once you've read Sarah's Seduction, you'll want to know the rest of the story.

2.5 stars.

I just couldn't get passed Brock with another woman. It really bothered me. I felt sort of sick about it. Yeah there are the reasons why behind it but I just don't like that.

I've read menage books before with brothers sharing and I have no problem with that but I did with him being with another woman. Soon to be women.

Tear up some because of the emotions Sarah was feeling. She was against it because she was afraid because she liked it and didn't want to like it. But her feeling like it was cheating was what I agreed with and felt sad about.

I won't be reading the next book. I can't read about Brock with yet another woman. Even with the acceptance they all have now. It just not for me.

I have no problem recommending this book though. I know a lot of people would enjoy it even if it wasn't really for me.

As much as I love Leigh's Breeds, this series leaves me flat. The Men of August is about 3 brothers who suffered some heinous abuse in their younger years thereby warping them in such a way that they must share their women to be able to express their love for each other.

Uh, yeah, oooookay.

I'm not buying it either.

Obviously Leigh wanted to write a menage type erotica story, and concocted this plot line to assuage the squeamish. The only problem is ... it doesn't make a lick of sense.

I thnk the problem with this one for me, aside from the above mentioned reasons, is that I didn't like the heroine much. Her constant battle with herself over her love for the hero just became annoying.

Still there was a good enough hook into the third of this series, so I'll probably continue on.

I'm sorry these books are just... yeah I can't even find the words they have potential but how corny can you get and unrealistic. I can see if you get people that are living a polyamorous lifestyle but that is not what this is and there is no way you can convince me that any man is sexy enough, can give me enough orgasms, or I love enough to share me with anyone I don't care what happened to him there is no excuse that is him abusing you in return and it makes the story unrealistic. But I'll most likely read the last one cause I want to know who has it in for the August Brothers

Wild and very memorable erotic sex scenes, but the story was lacking.

Three brothers had been abused when in their teens. The torture caused them to lose their brotherly bonds. (Caution: There is torture and sexual abuse in the book.) Now, the only way they can feel partially healed and calmed down from the nightmares is to share a woman in bed. Marly has been in love with Cade and has been having sex with all three brothers for years. This story is mostly about Brock who has fallen in love with Sarah and wants her to join their family and do the same thing. Most of the book is about Sarah's reluctance to be shared with the brothers and to share Brock with Marly. This same conflict continued through most of the book, which became tedious. I would have preferred not dragging out this conflict so long. Sarah was not very smart or rational in some of her actions, which took away from the story. If you're just looking for "wow" erotic and don't mind a slightly annoying story, then you might like this. There is a stalker threatening to kill the brothers and women, who is still on the loose at the end of this book. There are four books in the "Men of August" series. This was book 2. I assume books 3 and 4 may finish the stalker part of the story.

DATA:
Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: at least sixteen, many lasting several pages. Setting: current day small ranching town in U.S. called Madison. Copyright: 2003. Genre: erotic romance.

I just finished Sarah's Seduction Talk about one twisted family. MERCY. I had read that this was a strange series and it is. I really liked it though so what does that say about me?
The brothers in this series were horribly abused and now the only way they can connect with each other and forgive and love each other is to share their women. It is so perverted and sick and yet I shudder to say that I can almost see and understand their logic. I have never read any books like these but I just have to read the next and last book in the series, Heather's Gift.

I just did a re-read of this book and remembered how much I disliked Sarah. She took stubbornness to a new annoying level.

Sarah is free and she wants the one night that she lost with Brock, but he has other plans in mind. A plan Sarah will be unable to deny if she can survive the stalker out to destroy the August Men in this riveting contemporary erotic romance.

Sarah was so afraid of what she wanted that she ran straight into an unhappy and unfulfilling marriage and now that she’s free she wants to be brave enough to handle Brock’s passion and desires…desires that his brothers share as well. The reader can’t help but get drawn into this emotionally gripping romance as Brock sets out to seduce Sarah into her giving into her desires. The sex scenes including m/f/m and some spanking are white hot and leave the reader with a fiery inferno of need. The strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and the steady to fast paced plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, excitement and passion.

Anticipation builds throughout the story as Brock’s seduction of Sarah escalates and suspense keeps readers on the edge of their seat as Sarah becomes the target of a stalker that has it in for Brock and his family. And spicing the story up even more, Sarah’s ex is still around and has a couple of bones to pick as well ensuring that there is never a dull moment in this romance. The well written scenes and details bring this story to life and the well orchestrated events ensures that the readers keep turning the pages, but it’s the emotional turmoil that runs throughout the book that really grabs readers and captures their heart.

I was completely caught up in this story until the very end and I can’t wait to read the next one, especially after that ending because I have to know just what Sarah is thinking.

This is the 2nd book in Lora Leigh’s Men of August, which I enjoyed more than the 1st book,

I found Brock more likeable than Cade, he’s less domineering – well, just a bit, but he has a much softer and gentler side to him most of the time, that is. Again, it’s a story of a brother falling in love with a very young woman, named Sarah, who runs away from him at eighteen, too afraid of getting involved with one of the August brothers.

Sarah has always felt something for Brock and when she was eighteen, Brock had tried seducing her but she ran away when his brother Sam walked in and not being able to handle the situation that she knew about the brothers, married the first available guy, who turns out to be an absolute wimp and a serial adulterer.

After six years, she divorces him and decides that she has to get Brock out of her head..and what exactly is her plan?? She will have one night with him, get over her obsession and then continue with her normal life. Now, did anyone ever tell her that things are just not that simple?????

Brock has been waiting for six years for Sarah to accept his rather unusual lifestyle….and yes, it’s more than just unusual!!! Three brothers who had been mentally and physically tortured, in their youth, by evil and perverted men, and here we get to know more about that time and the reason for wanting to share their women with each other. I don’t know if I am able to fully understand that such a horrific experience would help them come to terms with it in this way.

In the beginning, I thought that Sarah may turn out to be this weak and whining character…I found her a bit irritating at times – her behavior puzzled me somehow. She wants to be seduced by Brock, having some knowledge of what he expects from her, and then believes she can walk away if he doesn’t agree with her not wanting to be part of the whole brothers lifestyle!!!! A bit naïve, here!!!! And the manner she displays when meeting with Cade, Sam and Marly really pissed me off!!! So rude and obnoxious!!! Only to suddenly agree to the whole sharing bit….and even then not admitting that the idea of being with his brothers turned her on, just made me madder!!!!

The author manages, somehow to get me believing and engaging with the ménage, or what does one call it with four people….orgy…nah!!! The sex scenes are written in such a way that rather than putting you off, actually turn you on. Right, admit it……who wouldn’t be turned on by three gorgeous men wanting to get into you whilst one woman watched!!!!! This is the total erotic fantasy and never does it become dirty or sordid…in fact I found it quite sweet…erotica doesn’t have to be just domination, sweaty and hard sex, it can also be nice and gentle, sweet…okay rambling on a bit..just saying the sex scenes were hot, sexy, scorching….addictive?????

Of course, not to make it just a story with sex, and more sex…of course there are a lot, and I mean a lot of pages on that, but there’s the addition of a stalker, serial killer out there wanting to do some really bad things to the August men and their women. What, you thought the bad guy had been killed off in the 1st book!!! No, they got the wrong perp!!!! And now things are getting even worse at the ranch. Someone is determined to bump these guys off and the ending leaves you with a cliffhanger…who is it and why is there so much hatred for these men, who in fact, are respectful, hardworking and loving people, who want to live their lives together and with their women!!

If you want a hot read, filled with romance, love, heartache, loyalty and gorgeous men and women and great erotica, continue reading this series. Forget the implausible plot, some repetitive scenes and dialogue – go with the flow and get into the whole August world!!!
We get to see the growing relationship between Sam and Heather, whose story will be next.

I read this book, because I always feel like if there is a series, I should forge ahead and hope for the best. We find out more in this book about the abuses the brothers suffered at their fathers will and the will of his "friend". Atrocious as those abuses were, it still seems odd to me that the brothers can only show their love for each other by sharing their women.

These men are hot and dominant and I enjoy that, but couldn't the sharing of their women just have been a kink that they are into instead of a healing mechanism for their pain?

This series is not an easy book to read. Some will find it difficult to read or tasteless. I guess is the word I'm looking for. But others will dig into this book like I did & devour every page. This is a book that has some very tortured brothers, who were abused in their lives. How they survived is beyond me. How they work through the torture, loss of brotherly love & how they so desperately want to reconnect & have that love lost back again is what this series tries to get across. At least that's what I got from it. Maybe, because I was sexually abused by my stepfather, is why I didn't find this book/series hard to understand. Walk a mile in my shoes before you judge is what I always say. I did what I had to to survive & I've been told by my therapist that she doesn't know how I'm the woman I am now. Why I didn't try hurting myself of falling into the same ways of dealing with the abuse as others have. So, if you don't go into reading this with an open mind & read the story that Ms. Leigh is trying to tell you, then don't bother. You won't understand. I loved this book! Found out a little but more about the darkness these brothers share & the love that their woman are willing to be a part of, even if they don't agree with it but try to understand. Because they want to help their men heal. And that's a big part of being a survivor of abuse.

***SPOILER***

Sarah, at the beginning I hated to run away and marry another go, but then she understood the situation in the small town where the father was more or less the voice of reason and that was against these brothers and instead asked them to leave the village because they were a bad example. There I began to understand more and why Sarah was so frightened when aged 18, Brock not only shows part of their sexuality, but also his brother Sam.

(Although it still gives me courage that Brock was about to be his first lover, and finally it was her husband)

But when they meet again, Brock lets out and not enclosed by anything. He has waited for it and will not lose pigeon shooting shotgun

#IVolunteerAsTribute.HAHAHAHA...

I really love it, especially a scene in which she is shaved for the first time with wax and he touches it, she thinks very funny things about it.

And how, in all, Sarah knows differentiate the brothers, because Sam, however much they want to corner her, does not achieve the same effect with Brock.

extremely unbelievable. At least in this book Brock treated Sarah better than Cade treated Marly in Marly's choice. However, where I come from men don't share their women as a way of showing their love for their brothers. Nor do women enjoy watching their man with another woman. That really is just SICK SICK SICK. However, in true Lora Leigh fashion this book is erotic, but there is nothing romantic about it AT ALL and it's supposed to be 'erotic romance'.

Ok...so the sex scenes in this book were really good actually but Sarah was a horrible lead girl. She was so back and forth it drove me crazy. I can't imagine any guy liking her. I liked her at the beginning but by half way through was when she changed all the sudden. Ok for a threesome book if you don't mind skimming some.

The story here was better than the first book but still emotional. Thsi is loaded with triggers if you have suffered any sort of assault. I am also still unclear on why they feel they must share after finding their one or why the ladies condone it! Overall I get past all the faults and enjoy the book.

3 “WHAT TF DID I JUST READ” Conflicted stars for this erotic juggernaut.

Did I like it? I dunno. I’d say I was just like Sarah, wanting to know more but hating the giving in to it. Yes, this is a fully selfish group of Brothers who want what they want and to hell with anyone’s personal agency.

1st book felt more natural in the bonds formed btw Marly and the boys. This book, Sarah says No. No. No. and more No, and no one gives a shit, especially Brock. He just takes from her, puts her in situations she DOES NOT WANT TO BE IN, and figures she’ll get used to it. WHaaaaaaT?

I’m glad Sarah held out for soo soo long. She had guts and independence, which is something that gets stripped from you when you tangle with the August boys.

You really need to suspend lots of wtf disbelief to even buy into the Sharing Economy that takes place at the ranch. I’m all for hawt sexy fun, but the way the Hero and his bros WORE her down was borderline illegal. She’d beg, pleaded and cried for him to leave her alone, MANY MANY TIMES, then H would do his best to convince her otherwise.

At one point, I was convinced that the mystery plot of the book might have been plotted by the brothers just to get her resistant ass to the ranch and take her against her will. AND, against her will it felt like.

Like others, this book has me torn. The sex is hotter than hot, but Sarah’s fight was more interesting and it made her a great character. I just couldn’t get behind her “giving in”. Seems it would have been better to have Sarah be the one who breaks this Share Cycle, since it is understood among the brothers that this isn’t exactly normal- they TOTALY UNDERSTAND it isn’t - but whatever, let just keep taking and taking....

3 conflicted WTF stars indeed.

A hot and spicy follow up to Marly's Choice.

Like with the last book, there are some areas of this story that are somewhat disturbing. The reason behind the brother's need to share their women with each other comes out a little more in this book. But it's still a bit confusing and honestly doesn't really make much sense. But I suppose that's what you get in erotica.

But Lora Leigh sure does know how to write erotica. This story is super hot and it almost makes you want to live the lifestyle. Although, I know that in real life it would probably be really hard to handle.

I like though, that despite this is an erotica novel, there is some story there. Not as much as in a normal romance, but some. I thought this one progressed a lot better and smoother. They eased Sarah into the lifestyle more than with Marly, I thought. It wasn't as abrupt.

Overall, I loved the story. The spicy sex scenes are hotter than hell - I don't know how Lora Leigh does it.

I liked Brock a lot more than Cade. Unlike some people, I really didn't have a problem with Cade. He was dominating, but - in fantasy - that's kind of nice in my opinion. I found Marly, in the first novel, more annoying than him. But I liked her in this one. Brock seemed more sensitive and in tune with Sarah than Cade was with Marly. However, he was still alpha male all the way.

Sorry I wasted my time, I should have stopped after book one but wanted to know more background.
Ends with the baddie getting away so it can continue to next book.
This is one person outsmarting a large group of highly trained specialists.
More sex than story and I loved how Marly was suddenly okay with Cade screwing Brock’s woman. She was actually pushing Sarah to do so but that was okay because she has Cade’s heart and soul. Unbelievable tripe.
I know I read these many many years ago, now I remember why the books were put away.
Oh well, at least I have reviewed this time.
I see it has been rereleased with a new cover but I bet it has not been changed and am loathe to waste the money to find out.

This is rated so low because Sarah had to be the dumbest woman ever. Look, if someone breaks in my house and tries to kill me, no way in hell am I staying there. Her constant wailing about being "shared" was annoying because that wasn't her only option- didn't she have a rich as hell brother too? And why didn't they immediately change her locks the first time the ex walked in without permission? The central mystery about who wants to kill the August men was decent, and you find out more about the big bad thing that happened to them (although in this book they seem older when it happened than in the first book?).

These men need therapy. Serious therapy, with someone reaaaaaaaally good.
This time at least Brock had the common sense to explain to Sarah why the three of them have this urge to share each other's women and the explanation is so twisted that it almost makes sense. In a sick way. Which brings me to the first point: T-H-E-R-A-P-H-Y.

This book was slightly better than the first one, probably because Brock wasn't growling and snarling all the time... and at least he gave Sarah no ultimatum. They really piss me off.
Now let's see what will happen to Sam, so I can put this trilogy behind me :P

Repetitive. Sarah loves and wants Brock but she can't have him because he'll want her to have sex with his brothers. Sarah and August get together and these actions/thoughts are repeated many times. About 2/3 of book. There is a crime/mystery in this book that is not solved. The one thing the book manages to fully accomplish is to explain why the men need to share women. This series is unique in that there is an explanation not just desire driven.

I preferred this book to book 1. Marly and Cade’s relationship was annoying at best and they both had the emotional maturity of toddlers.

Sarah and Brock were more complex characters with more emotional depth. I liked how the story came together and their relationship developed. Sarah needed a lot of time to come to terms with the relationship Brock needed her to have and she did it in her own time. She also wasn’t annoying.

OMG does Lora Leigh bring yet another steamy fantastic read about the Men of August and Marly. This book was a page-turner! With lots of heat, lots of suspense and men you can't get enough of! Now, lets not forget how witty and stubborn Ms. Marly can be; add in Sara and whoa! The women are full of grit, sass, and so much love for these men!

Much better than the first book in the series. story started 6 years ago and twists and turns seemed more realistic.
Brock and Sarah together made much more sense than Cade and Marly. Sarah was a really strong character and Brock brought just the right amount of emotion and intensity to the story.
Onto Sam's story now.

If you can make it through the sex scenes - the story line is good. Women are a lot stronger than most men give them credit for. I wonder... how would a man react if women did what was done to them, to the man?
