A writing for college is a complete writing handbook covering every thing from the writing process to writing essays and research papers, from writing with style to writing letters and resumes.
I use this to introduce my 9th graders to writing. This is used as a supplement to the curriculum that our English dept has developed over the past three years. As a supplement, it works well. The students learn to utilize the glossary, table of contents, and other structural clues in reference books. As a primary text, it follows the same basic format of our curriculum. My students often wish that there was more feedback on the example papers. I wish that the formatting of the text itself lacks organization. With mutliple bullets, fonts, and indentations, it is often confusing for students.
Great as a reference book for the pre-college student, college/university student, grad student, or the fledgling professional! Tips for writing papers, speeches, resumes, etc.
