Talk about misspent youth. What did I do during those lazy summer days of childhood when I could’ve been honing my writing skills? Nothing. Okay, so I spent a lot of time dreaming I was a cowgirl with a trusty black stallion. Oh, and I read every Walter Farley horse novel. I was an only child so I relied on my imagination to supply the excitement in my life.

By high school, I’d decided to trade in my lariat for a trench coat. I was into dark and dangerous. As an intrepid foreign correspondent, I’d stalk the mean streets of the world. Did I actually write anything? No, but I did read all of Agatha Christie’s mysteries.

I worked at a department store during college. My short stint in the accounting department taught me a lot about math. Three hundred-dollar shortages plus hysterical tears equaled instant move to gift-wrap. A career in math was not in my future. I didn’t care because I’d discovered “real” literature. I plowed through James Joyce’s Ulysses and Tolstoy’s War and Peace. If it didn’t make my eyes cross then it wasn’t worth reading. Yes, I admit it, I was a literary snob.

Nina and best buddy, Barbara Joyce.
Folk singers extraordinaire.

But there’s just so much “real” literature one person can take. I graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English Literature and a determination to avoid books that induced eye crossing or had tragic endings. The only things I managed to write during those years were research papers.

I taught second grade for several years then spent two years in Dublin, Ireland. A friend and I supported ourselves by singing folk songs in Irish pubs. We weren’t great, but we were young, enthusiastic, and wore short skirts. It was obviously my destiny to be the next Judy Collins. I spent a lot of time poring through music books.

Returning to New Jersey and reality, I taught elementary school until I grew restless again. My cross-country odyssey included stays in Arizona, California, and Texas. Along the way, I indulged my love of horses. No black stallions, but I did have several beautiful Arabian mares. I read tons of books on breeding and showing.

Somewhere between California and Texas I grew addicted to romance novels and cats. The cat’s independent attitude was exactly the quality I admired in my romance heroes. And once I decided to try writing my own romances, I made sure a cat crept into each story.

Texas is my permanent home. I’ve come full circle. Born in San Antonio, I spent most of my life in New Jersey. Maybe the Texas in my blood accounts for my attachment to strong men, fast horses, and wide-open spaces. My love of cats? Haven’t a clue.

OMG OMG OMG!!! RUN, right now...get up and GO GET THIS BOOK! If you are looking for something totally new and different in the paranormal genre, you've found it. "Eternal Pleasure: Book #1: Gods of the Night" is one smoking read. If you don't want a glimpse into this new world...then don't read any further.

They are the 11...the Gods of the Night. Their enemies are the Lords of Time and they feed on fear, death, and chaos. The current time cycle will end on 12-21-12 as forecasted by the Mayan calander. Then, the next cycle will begin. The aim of the Lords of Time is for the next cycle to begin without humanity, but the lords themselves are not allowed to kill humans. To that end, they have spread out into major cities to foment unrest among the Otherkin: vampires, demons, witches, weres, etc and use them as their killing army. Humanity's only hope are the Gods of the Night.

Fin is their leader and a freaky, scary leader he is. He protected their essence over millions of years and has now pulled them back into the world (and into the bodies of drool-worthy men!) to fight for humanity. Each of the 11 is a human body (mmmmmmmmm) containing the soul of a predator. When Ty awakens as a human it's very difficult for him to restrain his beast. It's not until he meets his driver, Kelly, that he slowly finds she is able to calm his predator. Ty is learning to become human and Kelly is learning that this world is NOTHING like she thought. Evil exists and she may have no choice but to join the battle. To save her family, herself, and the man/creature she's coming to love.

I'm trying really hard not to give away the premise of this book...but it's so hard not to. I love the plot, I love the execution of it. The love scenes are smoking and the growth of feeling between Ty and Kelly is touching. I am truly desperate for the next release in this series. I'm hooked.

Okay, so I gave the book another shot, and I'm glad I did. This is probably one of a handful of books where that admirable effort actually made a difference. Despite myself, this book grew on me.

Readers of Nina Bangs' (and what an unfortunate choice of pseudonyms) other works will recognize her style in Eternal Pleasure, fast and flippant with no excess scenes or dialogue, but unlike Bangs' other novels, the Gods of Night are meant to be darker and troubled. After all, these are men imbued with the souls of primitive, destructive beasts, creatures of nightmare, savage machines that don't belong in the world of men. The author certainly manages to capture that tension.

When we first meet our hero Ty (I bet you can't guess his other form-- the heroine does too), he bears a striking resemblance to our good friend The Caveman. (I'm paraphrasing, but "Me kill now," is a pretty close approximation to his first lines.) I had grave doubts here that were not immediately alleviated by Bangs' continually flip tone. Buffy was never my favorite TV character.

I wanted to stop here, but I took the chance. I continued, and I was rewarded. Some chapters in, we're introduced to another element of the story. We learn more about Ty, who is apparently more layered than he first seems. Now this feels more like a romance and less like a Nature special. It also helps that Bangs' world is peopled with lots of other interesting creatures and secondary characters for books to come, especially the oh, so mysterious and reputedly soulless leader Fin (Bangs, you tease).

Action: Good. There's enough fighting and fisticuffs to satisfy the bloodthirsty reader, but there is no horror-inspiring description of obscene violence, blood or gore. This is CBS violence, Moonlight rather than Supernatural. In this respect, Eternal Pleasure stays well within paranormal romance.

Romance: There are several, requisite near encounters before the final culmination full of tension. The actual bedroom scene is not as clean as a historical, but not as steamy and raw as a Larissa Ione, and taking a page from Romeo's book, the hero makes a rather unlikely declaration. Fortunately, we can move on to the real action immediately afterwards.

The ending was anti-climactic in failing to reveal an important event that had been alluded to for most of the book. It would also be nice to see a change of scenery now and again.

However, outside of that, I would recommend Eternal Pleasure as a good action paranormal with a couple in-lust (I'm hard pressed to believe the heroine's melodramatic vow of eternal love at the end-- perhaps if the book was longer) and some good twists, and also because dinosaurs are just cool. Yeah, I said it.

OK!! WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!! DO NOT WALK, RUN, OR DRIVE TO GET THIS BOOK!!! SPROUT WINGS AND FLY!!!!!!!! J is right!! This is not even close to what I thought I would expect from this book. From shapeshifter werewolves, to intriging vampires, to demons that are helpful, to big really nasty critters from long ago, this book had me enthralled, just like the vampires do. If this is the first I cannot wait till I can read the rest. WHEW!! I mean I always watch the Tour de France and it is on right now, well I cannot tell you who won this stage because I was too busy with this book. I mean when you are so entranced in a book that you cook while reading then it's gotta be good.

Kelly has hired herself out to be a driver for some visiting overseas guy. Not only taking a break from college the money will pay for the rest of her Degree in Music. But the guy she is to drive is totally hunky and terrofying int he same breath. Ty is a being from long ago in an new human body. His leader is Fin and he has 9 other compadres from his time period long ago. They are here to stop the Mayan prediction that the world will come to end on 12-21-12. But what their inner beasts are would normally scare most humans in the flight mode of getting the hell outta the way.

They are fighting 10 beings with the one in Houston Fin has named 9. If I get into anymore of this I will give it all away. But this is completely different paranormal from what I have read before and it is well worth the time and cost of the book to read it.

(Read for the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout book club)

"In a series inaugural from Bangs (One Bite Stand), the Gods of the Night are incarnated for the first time in 65 million years, summoned to protect humanity from an all-encompassing evil that is coming in 2012, at the end of the Mayan calendar. While currently incarnated as deadly, handsome men, they have the ability to assume their prior forms—those of gigantic dinosaurs."

Anyone reading the above synopsis should immediately be able to identify both the appeal and strength of Eternal Pleasure, which is, in essence, its ridiculousness.

The thing is, the pretense of the sheer amount of ridiculousness crammed into this book might actually get you excited for it, if you're not the type of person who needs to take everything seriously. For example, please watch this book trailer for Eternal Pleasure and tell me that this book doesn't look awesomely bad.

In addition, this book contains:
1) A dinosaur-cum-stud hero who can assume the form of his prior incarnation (the dinosaur) when necessary
2) Character names like Ty (for Tyrannosaurus Rex), Al (for Allosaurus), Quetz (for Quetzalcoatlus), triplets named Utah, Rap, and Tor (for Utahraptor), and so on and so forth
3) Vampires
4) Werewolves
5) Mayan calender lore
6) Amazing quotes such as, "If Helen of Troy’s face launched a thousand ships, then Fin’s smile was good for the launch of at least a million rockets." and, "His silver hair gleamed, and against the backdrop of the sparkling Houston lights, he looked like some cold, beautiful Christmas tree."

I'm mostly disappointed that the author didn't throw in any T-Rex jokes based on the T-Rex's stubby arms. There were some fun missed opportunities there, especially in the bedroom... [wiggles eyebrows]

My other big gripe was that the author chose to go with a Liopleurodon reincarnate (named "Lio") as her sea dinosaur rather than the much more badass Megalodon (she could have called him "Don!"). Again, another missed opportunity.

Anyway, the silliness factor brought this book up from a 1-star book to a 2-star book in my review, and if the author had really, truly *embraced* the silliness, I would have probably brought the rating up even higher.

But, since the author seemed to take this book somewhat seriously, I guess I have to as well. So, here's what you need to know:

***The plot is ridiculous and pretty much makes no sense. For example, Fin reincarnates all the dinosaur souls into (hot male) human beings, giving them an ESP-based crash course in everything they could possibly need to know about being human, except, for uh... how to drive? Seriously, he explains Dr. Who to them but not driving? He also forgets to tell them about vampires, for some reason, who are kind of a big deal in the book. Oh, and don't even get me started on the whole musical brain waves thing...

***Ty and the rest of the eleven dinosaurs, as well as some other characters, too (vampires, werewolves), were ALL alpha males. I mean, this book had so much alpha male in it, that it was exhausting. The whole book basically seemed like a penis measuring contest. (And you know what they say about guys with tiny arms [wiggles eyebrows]... see, Nina Bangs?! Missed opportunity.) Ty's alpha male reactions occurred about every single page, and more likely, about five times per page. It sure GOT OLD FAST.

***The love story wasn't believable (shock, gasp!). The characters fall in love in about two seconds, and I'm pretty sure that they actually just don't know the difference between love and lust. After about a week of knowing Ty, Kelly is also ready to throw her entire life away for him. Damn, dinosaurs sure move fast... I'd have thought that they'd be more old-fashioned? (I'll be here all night, folks! Try the veal!)

***The writing itself isn't too bad, but there are some ridiculous lines in this book (see my examples above), and also, the shifting third-person point of view can get confusing at times.

***There are so many characters, and none of them are really developed well (no, not even Ty and Kelly, unless you call creating a one-dimensional alpha male and a Mary Sue "character development").

Anyway, if you find the blurb amusing and can get Eternal Pleasure on the cheap, it might be a fun (and quick) read for a rainy day, based on its sheer ridiculousness alone. But, otherwise, it's really not worth your time or hard-earned cash.

Oh my God, this book was so bad. I mean, just...terrible, really. And yet, I wouldn't burn it in a fire. What I'm saying is that it's not in the so-bad-it's-good category, but it's definitely so-bad-it's-hilarious. It almost makes me rethink my one-star review, but I'd hate for someone to pick this up thinking it's in any way a quality read.

2018 EDIT: Nope, just reread it, still super enjoyable. I'm bumping this bitch up in the star rating!

There were a few times that I laughed so hard I cried, and not because the book was intentionally funny. I mean, there's a point where the dinosaurs are showing some vampires a PowerPoint presentation. THE AUTHOR ACTUALLY SAYS IT'S A POWERPOINT, AND IT'S NECESSARY BECAUSE IMAGES WILL ADD CLARITY TO THEIR DINOSAUR-VAMPIRE POW-WOW. Bang's use of kennings also made me giggle, partly because they're ridiculous and partly because I'm positive Bangs wouldn't recognize a kenning if it hit her in the face. The best was Kelly's extra special "brain-music." Honestly. Every time I read that I couldn't help but picture Simple Jack from Tropic Thunder.

Seriously, though: I thought there were some interesting concepts in here, and hey! Dinosaurs! That's awesome, right? Unfortunately, the writing was HORRIFIC. It was so bad that I looked up Nina Bangs to see if she's an ESL writer, but nope. She's definitely a native speaker. She's a homegrown grammar terrorist. The writing is so abysmal, she should be tried for crimes against the English language.

If you're a fan of terrible B-movies, then this book is for you. Otherwise, definitely skip this one.

EDITED TO ADD: Read for the Vaginal Fantasy book club.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Its hard for me to find a first book in a series that I really enjoyed, this one fits that bill and gave me more. Nina Bangs wrote a fabulous story with these shape shifting dinosaurs, no they are not your cuddly shape-shifting tigers or wolves etc. these are more hard core love to kill killers, so you get several blood scenes. You have 11 of them they are called Eleven Gods of the Night and they are all hot, their leader Fin is really hot also. You also get vampires with a hot leader named Jude. Wolves pack with a hot leader Macario. So you get a whole cast of hot men to read about. Now these men are on a mission they is to take out The Lords of Time. I know what your saying shape-shifting dinosaurs this has to be a very corny, but I really loved the authors storyline and how everything flows together.

I don’t find may heroine’s that I truly enjoy reading, but Kelly was wonderful. Kelly never new that things that goes bump in the night exist, until she gets a job as a driver. When she picked Ty up she knew something wasn’t right and she soon finds out how right she is about him, when she see him change into a T Rex (it gets really tense here). As Kelly looks at all the hot men she finds one that she cant keep away form that’s Ty, even though she knows he can take out a wolf pack in a heart beat, she cant stay away from his protectiveness of her. These too are really good together and they get into a lot of hairy situations that keeps you reading to find out what will happen next between them.

I really like Ty, he is one most like about hot and ready for any action. Now remember these men haven’t had any women around them for sixty- five million years, so you know what on each ones mind;). The more Ty is around Kelly the more he falls for her and the more he want to protect her from all dangers. But is Kelly the one woman that can love him enough to walk into the heart of the beast and claim a piece of his soul and become immortal and stay with him for eternity? Well you’ll have to read and find out the whole story.

I have a friend that wrote to Nina and asked her when the next books is due out and Nina says “around Dec.” so you wont have long to wait for book three.

I was a little interested to see how Bangs would do with this book considering her Sparkle and Ganymede series is a little more lightheared.

The story line for this book is a group of 11 men who used to have the souls of different dinosaurs are brought forward to the present time to basically save the earth. Each man is given a name after their dinosaur. Sound hokey, but it really ends up working out.

Ty (t-rex) is the hero in this book and Kelly, his driver, is the female. What I liked most about Ty is that he was a beast and didn't really apologize for it. I guess I have read too mnay books lately where the male lead was a tortured soul and blah, blah, blah. This guy knew what he was and was pretty much ok with it. And Kelly was a great female lead. She was funny, down to earth and had a good head on her shoulders. One of my favorite lines from the book is "Hallelujah and pass the bullsh*t." Ah, good line.

Anyway, I will be very interested to see how Bangs plays this out. There are basically nine beings they need to destroy (plus the head guy who is name Zero) before the end of the Mayan calendar. This book was Ty and Kelly (with help) destroying Nine. So if there are 11 good guys (plus Fin, the leader) and only nine bad guys, I am not sure how this is going to work out. Plus Bangs introduced some secondary characters that sound positively yummy.

All in all, very good read. I would recommend it to PNR fans. Big bummer that her website says the next book is due out April 09 and I can't find any other info on this series. Booo.

"Way to diffuse a situation. It's tough to enjoy a good bloodbath in the middle of a PowerPoint presentation."

This is by far the strangest PNR I've ever read and I kind of liked it! I found this book through a hilarious Karen review and had to give it a try. When I realized this was going to be a Dino shifter PNR I thought it would be all...

But happily it was far more like...

I love a good fight scene and this book had plenty of bloody toothy action. Actually this book had a bit of everything: Dino shifters, werewolves, demons, sorcerers, vampires, soulmates, god-like fae creatures, secret past lives, Mayan prophecy, Mexican food, fight clubs, and sexy sex. On that last note, I'd like to give special thanks for the lotion scene.

IT WAS HOT.

This series could really go anywhere, even dark fantasy considering the alluded to secret past lives were a bit...

I'm a pinhead fan: dark and sexy has never topped pinhead imo. Overall, it felt like a PNR version of Red Moon Demon.

If you are a fan of PNR, odd ball books, and dinosaurs this book is for you, lol! ★★★¾

Um what did I just read?

It takes a lot to render me speechless but for a few hours after reading this book I was just that. Eternal Pleasure has to be one of the strangest PNR books I have ever read. It is about a bunch of dinosaurs trapped in the bodies of attractive men. One day they are woken from their slumber (by a silver haired, leather pant wearing god who saved their souls after all the asteroids hit earth), given a mental download of how to act and how everything works in a modern human world and then are sent to Texas to save the world from some evil, other worldly being that want to see the Mayan 2012 prediction come true.

So straight off the bat the storyline is a little unusual, but it doesn’t stop there. There dino/men are able to morph into their original state (in the main characters case a T-Rex) but the dinosaurs are semi – transparent and inside them you can see the figure of a human.

If course there is a love story, despite being human for only a couple of days Ty walls in love with Kelly (his chauffer) who seems unconcerned that her stud muffin is a dinosaur. They do the deed (on a balcony because there is a werewolf inside their apartment and it is not private enough to do it indoors, in the bedroom. Of course the balcony is a lot more discreet *facepalm*) and she sees into his soul and from there things get a little mushy.

I am going to be honest this book is terrible. The premise is silly, the writing poor, the characters boring and the dialogue cringe worthy. There is far too much going on; there are dino men, vampires, werewolves, demons, floating evil clouds, otherkin, mind reading, and impromptu power point presentations.

But it is also really funny. I laughed so hard at some points that I cried. In its own way Eternal Pleasure is extremely entertaining but not in the way it was supposed to be.

Reread July 2015 - 1,5 stars

Wow, this was way more ridiculous than I remembered it. Ty is way too bossy and alpha for my taste, Kelly is just not interesting enough and takes way more of Ty's shit than she should, and Fin is a manipulative bastard. Then, there is the overload of mythical creatures and beings; vampires, werewolves, "otherkin", sorcerers, fae, demons, ghouls and of course dinosaurs in human bodies. It's just too much! There are also a bunch of cheesy lines and quotes, but I admit that some of them were so silly that I laughed out loud.

BUT, it is kind of entertaining in its "ridiculousness". So yeah, today I give it 1,5 stars.

Best Shapeshifters Ever. It opens with a prologue--predators hunting, catching, crunching and devouring. Then having sex. Then, wham, the predator is a soul stuffed inside a human and on his way to meet up with ten other predators. The world is going to end in 2012 at the end of the Mayan Calendar, and these eleven guys (Eleven! That's lots of books.) have to save the world from the inevitable destruction because this is The Last Time and if they don't shape the End of The World, it will be terrible and horrible. So the boss guy, who's in a different category than the shapeshifter guys, sets up the group with personal drivers who are supposed to be able to hide their aura signatures. These drivers are ordinary humans, many female. (Don't know if they all are.) And they go off with their drivers to hunt the bad guys and save the world.
These are not your usual shapeshifters, and Bangs does a bang-up job with the revelation of what, exactly they shift into, which is a HOLY crap! moment. Nor do they shift in the usual fashion. But she makes it work. She makes the relationship and the world building work. It just all works. Very well. This is a prime example of "the same, but different," and I'm really having a hard time not giving away the Big Spoiler. Maybe in the next book, I can do it.
This is the first book in a series, and I am seriously looking forward to the books yet to come.

More like three and a half.

Dinosaurs, who the shell would have expected this to be a decent read? Not me, but I was pretty entertained, mainly because I like the world in which this is set.

I like that this actually gives on-site into the bad guys world too, reminds of how Ward jumps between the Brotherhood part of the story and the Omega part of the story. The writing was pretty solid and the story didn't suffer from many, or any that I can remember, blah moments where the story just becomes filler. Lots of action going on, lots of romance scenes. The only thing that was a bit of a downer was that I didn't have much like for the main characters, not they are badly written, I just didn't much like them.

Wow what a concept! Eleven reincarnated Gods fighting ten evil almost Gods. Vampires, werewolves, all kinds of shifters. This is a paranormal lovers paradise. Eleven hunky, gorgeous good guys who shift into something un-freaking-believable. And normal everyday, though very pretty, heroines. This book featured two of the eleven and one of the ten so I'm thinking many books in this series to hit all the characters.

If this is your kind of thing, you're going to love this series.

This was a great book! I dont really have to say too much because of all the glowing reviews...

The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I wanted more steamy scenes between Ty and Kelly. (What can I say! ;-) )

I look forward to April '09 when the next book comes out!

In Eternal Pleasure, Book 1 of the Gods of the Night series by Nina Bangs, we follow the story of Ty Endeka, a predator who walked the Earth 65 million years ago, and Kelly Maloy, the woman hired to chauffeur Ty around the city at night as he searched to "save souls"... or so she thought.
Ty has been recruited in the most unusual way to work to fight against immortal beings set on destroying all of humanity. Kelly took the job as chauffeur in order to earn enough money to attend college. In this epic love story Ty struggles against his primal urges while Kelly struggles to accept who he really is. Can the two work together in order to save humanity as well as to protect each other?

Nina Bangs is one of the most creative and unique novelists I have ever had the pleasure of discovering. The Gods of the Night series is the perfect example. I do not know of another author who can make you fall in love with such primitive creatures. She has a way of making her characters come to life while you read. I would never classify any of her novels as simply "romance" or "erotica".
Eternal Pleasure is a story of love, lust, historical facts (if you are a nerd like me and choose to research as you read), and action combined with a very supernatural element. This book has it all!

Get some crackers when you read this one, because there's plenty of cheese inside. It's the good sort of cheese though, the kind that makes a book laughably entertaining not simply groaningly bad. It may not fully qualify as being a "good book" but it's certainly a fun book to read so long as you're willing to tolerate all the eye-roll-worthy moments in it.

Kelly is just a regular woman, a music major trying to pay her way through college who jumped at what sounded like an easy job playing chauffeur for a few weeks for outstanding pay. She finds out almost immediately upon picking her charge up for the first time that the job is going to entail a lot more than just driving. Overall, she is a very believable character because she *is* appropriately terrified by the situations she finds herself mired in with Ty. She demonstrates on more than one occasion though that she has a backbone of steel, because even if she might want to, she never once tries to run away screaming but bucks up and deals with whatever it is she's been handed. She also usually refuses to stay back where she's safe and protected, and insists on jumping into the thick of things, though she also has enough sense to realize when she's bitten off more than she can chew and a strategic retreat would be her best option.

Ty is very cavemanish at the start, still ruled more by his primitive, bestial soul than by human logic or reason, and not particularly inclined to control his animal instincts more than is strictly necessary. He gradually learns to keep a leash on it, and learns to think and act more like a human as time goes on and his relationship with Kelly progresses, but there still is a part of him that refuses to be tamed and likely always will be. Despite some obvious character development like that, however, Ty in many ways remains somewhat two-dimensional throughout and it's difficult to see much more in him than the super-alpha-male through most of the book.

The whole premise behind the book and series is quite interesting I think, and it is kind of a pity that the author chose to approach it in such a cheesy, humorous style instead of going for a more serious tone. There are many scenes where she does take a more serious tone, which is welcome, but the net effect is that it seems like the author couldn't make up her mind whether she was writing something intended ot be a parody of alpha-male type paranormal romances or if she was meaning her work to stand alongside them. I think a lot of potential in the story has gone unrealized because of this wavering tone. Still, the campy, almost parody-ish style does have it's own charm, and the book does well at holding your interest and keeping you involved with the story and interested to find out what will happen. The final showdown scene is handled a lot better than you might expect, though the ending of the book is quite frankly rather weird and leaves you with a total "what the heck?!?" kind of feeling.

This is a book well worth reading I think, just don't come into it expecting to be wowed and amazed. Expect, rather, to be amused and entertained, and perhaps even a little intrigued by the Eleven and their story. Much is hinted at in that regard, but very little is really revealed, thus sparking my interest at least in continuing the series to see what the real story is there. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fairly light, entertaining read.

Felicia Day and Bonnie Burton, I love you and think you're wonderful people, but I don't think I can be part of your book club anymore. I know you said this book wasn't screened, but it was so awful in so many ways, I just don't even. A lot of people found this book so bad that it was funny, but I am not so amused. :/

First, the writing was terrible. There were so many fragmented subplots, thoughts, sentences, and characters that I wasn't sure what was going on at times, or who the main character actually was, or why I should care anyway. It was like the author couldn't decide on one thing (one plot, one set of characters, one set of immortal beings), and so she just went with all of them. Shapeshifting dinosaurs might sound cool and different at first, but when you get into vampires and werewolves and demons and sorcerers and the Mayan apocalypse you just sort of lose anything you had going for you.

Second, the love story. Ugggghhh SO BAD. So the main male interest was a Tyrannosaurus rex in his past life. That's pretty cool. He has no idea what it means to be human, which is understandable. But then he meets HER and everything becomes angst and unfamiliar emotions and love, and when they have sex -- no, sorry, MAKE LOVE -- the first time she SEES HIS SOUL (no, seriously, she sees it and describes it and takes some of it with her) and it's like... okay, really? Did I seriously just read that? I did, didn't I. Wow, that was so awful. The main female interest isn't really all that much better. This guy is totally weird but hot and she wants him and cares for him and gets angry at him for doing something dangerous like fighting (because, you know, he's not still part T rex or anything) and will sacrifice her mortality for him and then they get married and I still really cannot believe that.

I think my main problem is that I just found the love story sort of gross. I've read alpha male romances before, and while I didn't like them, they didn't leave this awful ickiness in my head. This whole romance was just icky. It was weird and cheesy and unbelievable and stupid and didn't really fit the plot (which plot?) and just blah.

Do not recommend. I should have known from the cover.

Kelly Maloy, is Ty Endeka designated driver for the next few weeks. Kelly takes the job, because its the best offer for you financially, however she never imagined that accepting such a job, would definitely change her life forever. Ty Endeka, is one of the Eleven, a T-Rex, and very unpredictable and having recently come into this new life, that is much different from his last one. Kelly, is brought into a battle, that doesn't involve anyone that is human, but full of dangers she can barely comprehend exist in her world. Kelly is strongly drawn toward Ty, and there is a magnetism between the two, one that can't be denied, but as they come together there is also a great danger to them both, one that is pure evil...will their love be enough to survive? Eternal Pleasure is the first in the Gods of the Night series, but is the second one that I have read of the series. I recently read Eternal Prey, and just fell in love with it, so I wanted to read the previous two books. Eternal Pleasure is the beginning of a intense ride of danger, passion, and excitement that will curl your toes. From the first page, I was entranced by the story, I felt like I could relate with Kelly, she was such a endearing character. Kelly, although shocked at first, handles the truth extremely well, she has a inner strength that most don't expect from her. I just fell in love with Eternal Pleasure, there was such a enticing quality about the story that just had me drawn into it. Definitely a story that will take you on a thrilling journey, and one you don't want to miss out on....

One word: dinosaurs.

Sorry, make that two words: Fucking. Dinosaurs.

Awesome. So bloody awesome, I can't really form coherrent sentences here. What makes it awesome is that I went into this book wary; how the hell could dinosaurs work in PNR? Well, just ask Nina Bangs, because she managed to do just that, superbly. I'm impressed she took the risk with the dinosaur when it had such potential for failure; I'm even more impressed that she managed to make the idea sound so... not far-fetched. The plot is intricate; you have a sense that dinosaurs weren't just chucked in for the hell of it. The romance is good, but I was mainly obsessed with the plot, which teased and tormented me in a good way. The characters were all amusing; every one that was given a name made an impression.

And I'll say it again, just because I love it so bloody damn much: Fucking. Dinosaurs.

Now that's just WICKED', people.

I'm up to the second one now; will be sad when its done, because then there is only one more left, and then I'm waiting for the next book. If there is a next book. Which there better damn well be.

P.S. May gentle readers please ignore my swearing. I do it in times of great elation or intense rage. I chalk it up to intense emotion. ^^

Excellent Read! HOT!

Now this book totally Wow'd me. I love the paranormal world and when you think of shifters you think of were-wolves, were-cats, etc... But I never thought about Dinosaurs. Oh my God, there is no creature fiercer than a Dinosaur and talking about sexy - WOW, they are very primal and ravaging.

I loved the fact the story takes place in my home town “Houston, Texas” and every time I read and recognized a place where the characters went I couldn’t stop myself from smiling because I knew exactly where it was. Nina Bangs I applaud you for doing your home work on the big city of Houston, Texas.

The characters were out of this world amazing and my mind enjoyed imagining these dinosaur creatures walking through downtown Houston or even just fighting or should I say taking a couple of bites out of crime – LOL.

The story line was very exciting and I love the alien twist of sending the bad guys back into the cosmos. The romance was so sweet, ravaging hot, and I loved the HEA ending. I am totally addicted to the series and look forward to reading the second book “Eternal Craving”.

Despite hating her overly-contrived vampire series, I decided to make one more try at her books before giving up. This one is much better, which still doesn't give it more than a 3. She still relies way too much on as sort of "just because I said so" mentality, not bothering to do the truly talented author work of making a story that hangs together in a logical way given the premise. Even her characters question the concept, with the response on page 119, "some higher power must've set the rules, I guess." Lame. And it's a shame because she can write. This book is better than her books about the vamps, the dialog is less absurd and the characters are more vivid and fully fleshed, so to speak. She did surprise me as to the nature of the beast, which was a nice change. Overall, it was a good romance novel but I wish that once she goes to the effort of creating a fantastic premise she would go the full distance and not take short-cuts.

While this book had an interesting back story, I just couldn't get over the writing. It seemed as if every sentence was contrived from a cliche--this is how an urban fantasy should play out. Each dialogue seemed to come out of nowhere as there was no build-up emotional or otherwise to them. I'm still unsure of the main plot--other to win the girl's heart and get in her pants--and there seemed so many characters that we met for only a few minutes and then moved on. It was somewhat difficult to keep them all straight.
The only reason this book gets two stars is that the last chapter intrigued me. I am slightly curious to see where the Eleven's story leads, especially to find out more about Seir and their past. Unfortunately, if the following books keep pace with this one, I feel like I'll be let down.

This book is amazing. Take everything you know about cute shapeshifting bears and tigers and throw it out the window. The otherkin are shapeshifting dinosaurs. As in big teeth, large tails, and lived 65 million years ago. Ty (the T Rex) is one of the Eleven and is out to defeat Nine and his buddies who are looking to destroy humanity in 2012. Ty's boss Fin pairs him up with a driver Kelly to use while he is in Houston. Ty is instantly attracted to Kelly and extremely protective of her. I loved the addition of Jude the vampire and Marcario the werewolf. As if there wasn't enough testosterone filling this book to begin with Bangs just adds even more. This is action packed from beginning to end and I can't wait to find out what will happen next.

I just couldn't get into this author. The idea was interesting and original for sure but it was just poorly executed. I don't know if this was a bad edit job where too much was cut or if it was a writing deficiency. Either way, I was left feeling that the story was choppy and made huge leaps that made no sense. Teh average man doesn't fall in love in 2 days, even your above-average man. Certainly not a half dinosaur, shape-shifting god who is constantly battling not to kill everything/one around him. He has only had the concept of humanity for 2 days. Seriously? WTH?

Perhaps the writer grows with the series. I have seen it before so I am hoping this will follow in that mein. I may give the series another try when I have time to kill. Certainly not soon.

Now that was fun. I enjoyed this one very much. I mean, what's not to like about a group of warriors who were dinosaurs in a previous existence. They all work with Fin (a very beautiful and mysterious guy who holds all the answers I suspect) and work with demons, vampires and werewolves to save humanity. Yes, the concept is "over the top", but that is one reason why I loved it so much. In this genre, I enjoy reading what concepts authors come up with. Loved the heroine who was very smart and able to keep her head during some very unbelievable times. I recommend this if you like this genre. Ah, romance...

Sometimes, my husband likes to watch bad action movies. You know the kind. Very little plot (with lots of plot holes) and ridiculous dialogue, but lots of action, explosions and a hot girl or two.

This book is a little like that. There were so many lines in it that made me cringe. The ending was just silly. But, it was an easy read, and a lot of fun.

I find it interesting that I can read books about guys who turn into dragons, and find that sexy, yet a guy who turns into a t-rex? Not sexy, just hilarious. All I could picture were those little t-rex arms.
