Thankfully, with this book, Anneke drops her whole "I don't want to get romantically involved" thing. Also I like that, as in the first book, she's really not put herself in danger. I'm assuming since she's driving a convertible it's a Spider, she has money (from all her apparent spending), and somehow she is now (since the first book) supposed to be an "expert" in Art Deco. Trading in the Alfa for a Firebird...well, that was a bit nuts. I'd expect a Ford Explorer, Mercedes M Class, Jeep Cherokee...an SUV to haul her antiques finds around in. Just seems inconsistent with her character. Overall a good book.

I like this series. Anneke runs a computer consulting company and on the side looks for Art Deco items, which she collected, and which got destroyed in the fire which consumed her house. Now she's renting a cottage which turns out to have been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. One of her neighbors is murdered and she gets involved. It's written in the third person from Anneke's POV, but once in a while from another character's POV, which seems a bit jarring.

Susan Holtzer's books are all about Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan, and the Michigan Daily student newspaper. Very well written - she has published four or five books and I loved them all.
