Once upon a time I thought I was going to write children's books.

description

So I crept into big bad Borders in search of how-to clues...

description

I discovered (that's a big word that means "found") this book and it was great!

description

It had all the info I'd ever need, like explanations of the different kinds of children's books...

description

What are and are not kid-appropriate characters and dialogue...

description

It explained what an agent can do for you, how to find publishers, and gave an overview of contracts!

description

Oh the wonderful things you'll learn!

Eventually I learned I didn't want to write children's books! Isn't it wonderful?!?!?!

This book is an easy read and full of tips that would take a long time to learn on your own. There is a lot of focus on publishing rather than on writing and content, which satisfied a lot of questions I had about what to do after my manuscript is finished. Great book.

If you are new to writing for publication this is a good first book. However, if you are an avid reader of Writer's Digest books and Writer's Market, get this book from the library and skim it for the information that is original. I was a little disappointed because I did not learn anything new. However, I have been writing professionally for seventeen years. Like I said if you have never bought a writing book before, this is a great one to start with.

I really like this one. It's logically organized. Never goes off topic.
