Serena Keller yearns for more than the vanilla relationship she has with her long-term live-in lover, Zane O'Malley. Fear of Zane's reaction to her naughty submissive fantasies has kept Serena from admitting to Zane what her body craves.
What would Zane think if he knew that Serena longed to feel the flat of a man's hand against the bare skin of her bottom? Would he be disgusted to learn that she becomes aroused merely by the thought of being bound?
The past four years of Zane's life has been spent hiding his dominant sexual side from smart and sassy Serena. It has taken every ounce of his willpower to refrain from showing Serena the darker side of love. When his control finally slips, Zane can't hold back his sexual beast. He finds himself unable to rein in his desire for a submissive woman.
As Zane finally reaches his breaking point, he places an online singles ad looking for the perfect companion. A woman with a will of her own who is willing to give up all control behind closed doors.
The boundaries between fantasy and realty will be tested once they start doing things Zane's Way.
Maggie Casper's life could be called many things but boring isn't one of them. If asked, Maggie would tell you that blessed would more aptly describe her everyday existence.
Being loved by four gorgeous daughters should be enough to make anybody feel blessed. Add to that a bit of challenge, a lot of fun and an undeniably close circle of friends and family and you'd be walking in her shoes.
A love of reading was passed on by Maggie's mother at a very early age, and so began her addiction to romance novels. Maggie admits to writing some in high school but when life got in the way, she put her pen and paper up. Seems that things changed over the years because when she finally decided it was time to put her story ideas on paper, the pen was out and the computer was in. Took her a while to catch up but she finally made it.
When not writing, Maggie can usually be found reading, doing genealogy research or watching NASCAR.
There are more ways of cheating than simply having sex outside a committed relationship. If you're in a long-term, monogamous relationship, engage in an online chat with the purpose of finding a sexual partner for your kinky desires and masturbate thinking about that person you met online instead of your significant other, that's cheating - no matter how you justify it.
This story was just okay for me. Serena's abusive ex-husband is taking a front seat in her current relationship. This is sad as she wants something more from her relationship yet she can't communicate it. Zane on the other hand, he's hesitant to communicate because of what Serena told him. He's afraid his sexual dominating ways will chase Serena away. He initially was going to seduce her into the lifestyle. Instead, she sexually castrated him for the past 4 years. He suppressed an integral part of himself for her.
I don't like Serena. I don't like these women who are head cases and go into a relationship. The minute I read about one and the man has to step it up to "fix" her and make her feel like she's worth it, I'm disgusted. Here's why - because the woman still didn't fix herself. She's waiting for a knight in shining armour to rescue her - in this case, her self esteem. Ugh. I hate these kinds of stories. Fortunately, Serena isn't as bad as some I've read. Ms. Casper did a decent job of portraying her and Serena really tried to fix herself and not be a burden on Zane.
The main plot of this story is a bit hokey to me. I won't give away how they were able to breakdown the wall she erected. The reader could see this a mile away and it had me rolling my eyes. As story lines go, this was a tame and easy one to follow. There were no surprises. The characters did nothing for me so I couldn't really connect with them. The kinky sex was sweet and sugary. I would recommend this book to romance lovers who want a little bit of kinkiness to their book.
well, the best thing i can say for this book is that it was free. for erotica, i found the sex boring, and for plot, i didn't like the premise that both the hero and the heroine were not satisfied with their relationship but neither had the guts to discuss it, and instead went looking--BEHIND the partner's back--for another person who could give them the type of sex they wanted. just not my cuppa
BRIEF SUMMARY Serena and Zane have been in a relationship for four years. Although they have been in a relationship for four years, neither knows that the other wants more sexually as a Dom/Sub because they’re afraid what the other will think. Now that they both have reach their breaking point, they each separately goes online to find what they’re looking for.
THOUGHTS
This was a likeable story. I thought the first half of the story was cute, but it kept the same pace that made you eager for something to happen, which is understandable as the author is building up to the plot and climax of the story. However, I found the first half just ok. The second half became exciting, sexy and steamy. I did also enjoy that the author gave us a brief introduction to Zane’s brothers as they are the follow ups leading into the next two books in the series. I thought the BDSM was good, it wasn’t soft and it wasn’t hardcore.
Storyline: FAIR Intimacy: GOOD/ VERY SPICY Enjoyment: FAIR to GOOD
Serena Keller is in a relationship with Zane O'Malley, they live together and while they still sleep together she can't help feeling like there is something missing. Zane is suppressing his true desires and believes that Serena would balk if she knew what he is hiding from her. However when both decide to seek out what they truly desire they find themselves meeting under unusual circumstances.
This was okay for me but it did have a cheat element I had a hard time understanding. I think a couple that has been together that long might have seen signals or at least discussed what they wanted from one another.
I originally started reading this one because I was looking for something saucy and sexy. While the sex was creative and fun, it felt like it took a long time - with a lot of internal dialogue where the characters lamented the fact that they were in a relationship that didn't fulfill them - before Serena and Zane finally came clean with one another and admitted that they want a D/s relationship. The internal back and forth really slowed down the first half of the book, in my opinion, and I felt like we kept retreading the same ground over and over again.
Now, I have no issue whatsoever with the D/s aspects of this story. I did, however, have a big of a cringe when both Serena and Zane virtually cheated on one another. Although the argument could be made that they didn't physically cheat and they had both made it clear that they were in relationships when they began conversing online, it still felt like cheating to me. That said, I think they were both very forgiving of one another. As in, I don't think I could have just accepted it. But that's just me.
While the beginning of the book moved slowly, things started to heat up once they both began being honest with one another with what they wanted. The sex was nicely steamy, it was just a matter of wading through the beginning. Still, hot Dom sex. That almost says it all.
"If you like Pina Coladas... and getting caught in the rain...."
That song was going through my head about midway. And that might be the most interesting thing I can say about this book. I was so bored. There was so much inner dialogue and inner turmoil for both characters. Neither of them would talk to the other about how their relationship was lacking in fear of pushing the other away. So yeah... one places a Dom ad that the other answers, and surprise! Hence the song. But even once they realized they needed the same things, I was bored. I just felt like very little happened, and I wasn't even all that jazzed about the sex. I ended up skimming a lot of it. But hey, it's been on my TBR for quite a while, so I'm glad I finally got 'er done and I can move on.
This was a hot, bdsm-lite story about two lovers who didn't know each other as well as they thought they did. Very hot and I wish we'd seen more of Zane's brothers in the book.
For those who like BDSM/erotica lite and a romance then you will probably enjoy this story by Maggie Casper. This is the first novel of hers that I've read. It's the story of a couple in a relationship and living together. Attracted to each other but not hitting the kink button or needs for either of them. I personally felt there was a little too much of the self analysis of the two main characters Zane and Serena. It also shows the ease and inherent dangers of becoming involved with someone met on an Internet chatline. It shows how a person can open up and be honest (but of course this could be the opposite too) discussing their personal and often very intimate needs and kinks with strangers, or at best a cyber pal. I've done it myself, discussed things openly, confessed to things I've done when you wouldn't dream of discussing such things with the person nearest and dearest to whom you should be discussing and having these conversations with. Freeing is all I can say it is. Here the two lovers meet and discuss and become attracted, enough to meet. What happens readers will find out. It's an easy read. It lacks a little depth for me personally and as such I give it just 3 stars. English is of a reasonably good standard, typos rare, and it has been edited.
Not a bad read but I could tell while I was reading it that it was rather dated erotica. Pretty hot scenes once they got going but I really couldn't get past the whole fact that neither of them seemed to be bothered that the other was answering a classified BDSM ad to be with someone else. The author did clear that up, but up until then, it really did portray Serena as kind of a mousy woman that was afraid to voice her opinions about what she wanted and portrayed Zane at first as kind of detached and then as a total Neanderthal. I have a hard time believing that a couple that was that incompatible in the bedroom and had THAT many issues communicating would have made it four years. But it read fast and was entertaining.
This was a free download from Amazon, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the authors writing style it was very well put together. This is a straight up erotic thrill ride so if your uncomfortable with consenting adults doing kinky things in the bedroom I would say this isn't the book for you. I would recommend this book based on her character development alone, she has a way of writing that even for a short story the author has made a connection with the characters that isn't soley based on the sex, you can feel the turmoil this couple is going through with their relationship and how to open up to each other.
Good short read. Communication, communication,communication...can not be stressed enough. This is what was missing before Zane got his way. It can not be stressed enough that D/S relationship needs communication, safety and consent. This was part of Rena’s issues, burned once and trust is hard to earn. I can understand Zane’s trying to go slow but as the more experienced I would have expected him to get some clues before resorting to possibly giving up.
Another reader suggested this comparison on a discussion board. It's highly appropriate -- though younger readers (any GenY or after) have probably never heard the song.
The story is decently written, and despite the fact that I had the song stuck on "repeat" in my head the entire time, I am glad that I read it. :) It's not a fabulous story (def not 5Stars), but a respectable one.
Very fun book to read and kind of gives you a reason to communicate with your significant other.
This story could have ended badly for the characters, but all turns out happy.
I don't have much to say about this one other than I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters and look forward to reading the next in the series.
I have to agree with many of the other reviewers that this book took a long time to get going. It took way too long considering it was a relatively short story. The sex - what there was of it - was hot, and the story was sweet with a lovely ending. Overall I felt there was just too much talking and thinking about it and not enough doing it.
This book was next in line to read in my library, wasn't sure what to expect. Didn't care so much for the cover, I tend to like real pictures. This was nice quick read, with some explicit scenes. I did enjoy the story line and then afterwards found out this is a series. Because I like series with storylines about family, I had to download the other titles. On the second title:honoring sean.
This was a hot, bdsm-lite story about two lovers who didn't know each other as well as they thought they did. Very hot and I wish we'd seen more of Zane's brothers in the book.
Well written. Unfortunately for me, submissive women usually annoy me, so I can't enjoy the story as much as I would have liked. Great for a kindle-freebie!
