Takahashi (高橋和希) started as a mangaka in 1982. His first work was Tokiō no Tsuma (闘輝王の鷹), published in 1990. One of his earliest works was Tennenshokudanji Buray (天然色男児BURAY), which lasted for two volumes and was published from 1991 to 1992. Takahashi did not find success until 1996 when he created Yu-Gi-Oh!
The story got rather stale in this volume. Zorc Necrophades is resurrected and so is this super huge evil demon god, Pharaoh and the Priests all band together to take it down. There was also this stupid twist of the whole world of memories being a giant RPG Pharaoh and Bakura are playing. Bakura pulls a bunch of tricks out his sleeve as he obviously in manipulating the game in his favor. Oh yeah, and Yugi and the gang are still running around being useless. Where the first 4 volumes were new and exciting, this was clearly a transition novel as it set up the beginning of the finale.
My GOD. There's so many plot twists in this arc I can't keep up. There's lore over lore over lore with secrets upon secrets upon secrets like a deluxe layered crepe cake.
Just a quick side note, the Bobasa guy is very silly and it's weird his body has indents for the millennium items; crazy.
Zorc Necrophades is a very interesting and fascinating character, the fact that his spirit is in the millennium ring is insane and that it was found by Bakura's descendant.
Also Mahado's spirit coming back to protect his Great Pharoah is pretty cool, just saying. Bakura is insane it looks like he's bleeding from his eyes.
Ohhh the apprentice is a different person, Mana that makes sense. They just look similar to me. Isis has to be my favorite of the priests and I like her use of her necklace and seeing the future.
Fusing the two Ka together was pretty cool, basically fusion summoning. Akhenaden pulling the millennium eye out of his eye socket was crrazy insane for sure.
Ahhhh THE ULTIMATE SHADOW GAME RPG that's insane and makes sense since Bakura is the one who trapped them in the last RPG. Bakura's new game is insane. Hasan the spirit of the stone tablet is kinda crazy cool. Yugi, Anzu, Honda, and Joey are in the Pharoah's tomb looking for the Pharoah's true name exactly where Yugi's grandpa found the millennium puzzle.

A book full of references and call backs to earlier volumes, manages to be fresh, full of surprises and make the earlier stale storytelling come into new light
This book really is the turning point for the series, where all the pieces comes together. Some might complain about the multiple twists, but it was all foreshadowed and earned. Especially all the video-gamy feels this series have had in the last couple of books, actually makes sense and in the new light isn't awkward as before. My main complaint for this arc, has been that the old cast has had very little too do, but that all seems to be changed now.
I am also surprised at how good the world building has been, and how well the new villain was hidden even when it was in plain sight.
All in all, this book is something the series hasn't been since the beginning, ambitious.
It's the darkness before the dawn in volume 5 of Millennium World; and as the fearsome Zorc Necrophades is finally resurrected a stunning twist is revealed. Turning the memory world on its head. It is a twist many would've guessed by now, but it is one I still enjoyed. The Pharaoh and his dwindling allies must pull every trick they have up their sleeve as the enemies take every chance they can get to manipulate things in their favor. Meanwhile, Yugi and his friends close in on the name of the Pharaoh. Takahashi continues to deliver in this arc that answers all the questions; with gorgeous art to boot.
I love dis series but it is getting old. Thief Bakura had an amazing potential but then they just turned him into literal sand!!! WHYYYYYY!! he could have been amazing and now they just sloppily threw akenhadaidontknowhowtospellhisname! it doesnt even make sense. Also we still dont know what actually happened during this battle. this is just Yami Bakura's stupid RPG. I wanna knowwww! We could have had some amazing backstories that went into much more detail. with marik we knew all the things bout him but with bakura we got 1/2 his face as a child and a busted up village.
I forgot that Thief King Bakura turns into sand. It is horrifying!
Also, Yami Bakura employing some dungeon master role bulls*t is top-tier whackadoodle and I am here for it. I love how this is all happening simultaneously in a world of memory and behind an exhibit in the Domino City Museum. It is amazing!
