Chris Cooper thought he was doing the right thing by leaving his teenage boyfriend behind to try and make something of himself. A decision he puts down as the biggest regret of his life. Now guardian to his baby niece, he’s reminded just how short life can be, so when chance has him bumping into Andy years later, he fully intends to correct the mistakes of his youth.

As Andy’s plans for his future come to fruition, Chris’s actions leave Andy wondering if he can he trusted, especially when Andy finds out Chris has been keeping secrets from him again.

Drew is an Irish author with a panache for sarcasm and a love of the random, her cynicism knows no bounds, but she’s a secret hopeless romantic who likes to let her characters sizzle on the pages.

She lives her with two children, and dreams of escaping to Hampshire, the home of Jane Austen. When she’s not writing, you can find her knitting, crocheting, shouting at Ireland playing rugby, and of course reading.

I was so so mad at Chris, especially when Andy talked about all the promises he made to him. Why did he left him without talking first? He said he wanted to grow up and be the man Andy deserves. And in order to do that, he went silent for nine years and then reappeared 3 days before Andy's wedding with Graham, hurting Andy all over again.
Andy is such a wonderful man, he didn't deserve what both Chris and Graham put him through. He deserved a honest man, a committed and loyal one, a man who kept his promises (both of them promised him to give him a family, but Chris left and Graham put off the idea to have children for all their marraige). I felt very sorry for him because it seemed everyone let him down (even Zoe).

Luckily, being the amazing man he is, Andy learned how to forgive Chris and he was finally able to build a wonderful family with him. The HEA is indeed very sweet.

This is so far my favourite of this series, along with the first one, Because I Need You

A second chance, 2 decades later.

An interfering sister is determined for Chris to do the right thing, even if it was 19 years ago. Turns out she was right, and then some. Andy goes from sad and lonely, to instant (nearly) family, dream home and a forever partner in a breathtakingly fast time. They both get a HEA they could never have predicted.

The first story in this series was wonderful, the second just wasn't my thing, I struggled with it, but this one is gorgeous. It's sweet and is a roller coaster of emotions. Andy's journey through adulthood as been glorious, painful, and tragic. This is a truly lovely read.
