Rafael Torrente, famous New York chef, meets Dallas St. Michael, bail recovery agent, and the sparks fly. The two of them take flirting to a new level, but both of their lives are too busy to make more of a connection… until Dallas hears about an upheaval in the chef’s life.
This is the tenth and final book in “The Lonely Heroes” series. Come along and finish the ride, won’t you?
I grew up in the rural Midwest before moving to the East Coast with a dashing young man who swept me off my feet, and we've now settled in the desert of Nevada. I write M/M contemporary romance, subgenres: sweet low angst, age-gap, cowboys, mysteries, and military/mercenary to name a few. I am a firm believer in "Love is Love" regardless of how it presents itself, and I'm a staunch ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I have a loving, supportive family, and I feel blessed by the universe and thankful every day for all I have been given. I’m old enough to know how to have fun, but too old to care what others think about my definition of a good time. In my heart and soul, I believe I hit the cosmic jackpot. Cheers!
Oh, what a thrilling and delicious end to this series! I have looked forward to Rafe’s book for a long time. Love the cover. The suspense and multiple plots kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. Everything is brought together nicely in the end and along the way we got to find out the latest news of some of the previous characters/heroes from this group of books. I’ll be truly sorry to see this series go, but the author’s notes state that we may get glimpses of their futures here and there from her next series. Something to look forward to. Chef Rafael Bianco is opening his latest restaurant in Las Vegas which is an homage to his grandmothers who taught him how to cook: “Cucina della Nonna.” Because he is currently a frazzled mess, he decides to go for a walk in the early hours of the morning in Las Vegas where nobody sleeps anyway. He comes upon a man sitting by himself in the courtyard. Amazingly, it is a former one-night-stand, Dallas St. Michael. Oddly, neither man can forget that one night. Hmmm…If that was all there was to this story, it would be good enough but there are abductions, apparent murders, vandalism, passion and more. Whew! When the dust settles, who will be left standing? I loved this ending! If you like thrilling, suspenseful, and steamy M/M romance, you will want to read this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of it. My only regret is that there is not a mix of straight couples mixed in with the gay.
The phenomenal conclusion to the Lonely Heroes series! Rafe and Dallas have such strong chemistry right from the beginning. They are both such sweethearts under all the danger! This was such an action packed story that will take you on an emotional roller coaster and I loved every minute of it! I absolutely loved seeing all the great characters from the series and some new ones! I was really hoping we’d get more from the hunters and the MC so that was some exciting news! This was such an amazing series and this was a perfect ending! So very well written and it just flows perfectly! It definitely keeps you captivated! I absolutely loved it and highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book
Finally, Rafe’s story! I’ve been impatiently waiting for this one, and Rafe and Dallas do not disappoint. All of the GEA-A guys are memorable in their own right, but Rafe has been especially intriguing. The chef/assassin is often the one called in when things go south and has been a bit of a mystery. This final Lonely Heroes book is a wild and thrilling ride to end things with Frankie Man, once and for all. There was a ton of story and characters through all eleven books, and the author does a superb job bringing it all to a fabulous and dramatic ending. I’ve loved the ride, the amazing characters, and the epic finale. Dallas and Rafe are also absolutely perfect together.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
There is no doubt in my kind that Rafe and Dallas were destined to find each other. They just mesh so well. They are each strong individuals, but they ground the other perfectly. Rafe always tries to carry the world on his shoulders, and Dallas won't let him do it alone. Dallas is fiercely loyal and caring, but he also won't let people walk all over him. The best part is how they make each other laugh and feel at peace. This was a tough book because there was so much going on, and they couldn't always be together. However, I think their time apart showed them each how strong their feelings were. There is such a strong found family in this series, and I have loved every minute of the journey.
I’ve just finished reading Rafe’s story, and all I can say is, Wow!, what a magnificent ending to a wonderful series. This book had it all, action, intrigue, suspense, emotion, heat and even some humour. It was terrific to learn more about Chef Rafe after all the glimpses we’ve had of him in the previous books, and he couldn’t have found anyone more perfect than Dallas. I loved this book from start to finish, and I even woke up early to finish it and get a final glimpse of everyone. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Plot: Action-packed conclusion to the Torrente family saga Feels: The instant attraction and connection between Rafe and Dallas was so sweet and the yearning even more heart-warming. Drama: Revenge and Family business Heat: 2/5 Characters: I enjoyed the fact that both Rafe and Dallas were on equal footing action-wise, even while apart. Many cameos to enjoy from all previous Lonely Heroes books. Pacing: Fast Length: Longer with some circles and goose chases Ending: As with their sweet beginning, Rafe and Dallas also got a super sweet family-packed HEA.
This was the story I was waiting for. Rafe has been a side character of questionable skill for some time. I really did enjoy, though my biggest critism of this book was we should have seen more of Rafes assassin skills. I enjoyed how all the previous characters came rushing out of the woodwork in a bid to help the Torrente family. I liked how even though Rafe pushed him away Dallas was more than honorable enough to jump in and help out, then rush to help Rafe also.
I read one of the earlier books and skipped to this because I wanted to see if I should read more. But the writing style issues that I had is still here, so I'm going to skip.
There tends to be a lot of embedded flashbacks (short time period usually) to tell a recent past event in italic. But while it never seems quite out of place it still bugs me. Flashbacks are my major writing style issue and the only author who I can consistently stand reading with flashback is Mary Calmes. But I know people hate her writing for the same reason.
An amazing conclusion to a fast paced, complex series filled with villains, a family comprised of loyal members and criminals, and the innocent.
Your pulse will race and you'll find yourself reading well into the night...eager for one more clue and another passionate encounter.
I won this from Goodreads and it was totally worth the hours and days I spent. (Of course I read 26 other ARC's at the same time so you need to cut me some slack!)
Rafe and Dallas were worthy partners. An HEA I loved.
I totally recommend the series and all of Sam's books
The book features a character named Rafe who possesses three attractive qualities: he can cook, has an accent, and is an assassin. Both Dallas and Rafe share a mutual attraction and passion after a night together. The book offers a mix of romance, suspense, action, angst, humor, and intense moments. It is also enjoyable to see the return of previous characters. Although it is sad to see the series end, I am excited to read the author's next book.
A finale to to Torrentes. Great series finale. Rafe, like Mateo was always one of my favorites when he’d pop up, take care of business then go about his day job. Dallas felt immediate attraction to Rafe but his life as a bounty hunter didn’t seem to compare to the larger than life chef. This was a great wrap up, looking forward to the spinoffs.
MM, Second Chance, Action, Intrigue, Contemporary, Romance. Easy to read page-turner with great characters, non stop steam, drama, Action, Violence, tearjerker moments in a fast paced plot. This is the tenth and final book in the series and they are best read as part of the series and in series order. A great read with a guaranteed HEA.
I am going to miss this series but look forward to seeing some of these guys in the spin offs. I have been waiting for Rafe to finally find someone for quite a while and Dallas is definitely his match. I really enjoyed their story and was glad they they were finally able to get rid of the man who had been tormenting their family for so long.
This is a fantastic series from start to finish. I have loved reading every one of the books and I'm sure I will read them all again. Each book is about a different couple, and each has a story to tell. There is also a main thread running through all the books. I would thoroughly recommend reading them in order or things could get confusing.
Chef Rafe is the final book in the Lonely Heroes Series. I loved it. This truly was a thrill ride. The author wrote a wonderful and satisfying ending to a wonderful series. Loved it from beginning to end.
What a great end to the series. If your looking for a thrilling, suspenseful action packed story combined with a hot romance you will find it here and more. It is my favorite book of the series and am looking forward to seeing some of the characters make appearances in future books.
Love that everyone of the Lonely Heros were part of the end, even if only mentioned by name. Great series. Only complaint is how long the wait was for the last book.
Assassin/Chef, Rafael Torrente, finally gets his HEA with bounty hunter, Dallas St. Michael. They have chemistry! This is sadly the final book in the series and it breaks my heart that the Lonely Heroes are done. The positive news? There will be spin-offs with cameos.
I can't understand how Kraemer managed to touch my heart with this story, but they did. like the other books in this series it IA all about funding your better half and becoming family. Loved it.
I've enjoyed this series...hot, interesting MCs...loved the moral ambiguity in the storyline involving the always featured family...and I'm happy to see Rafe get a love interest...this series is a Sam Kraemer masterpiece !
