Cindy and Sam appear to be the perfect couple; appearances can be deceiving. Even before their breakup, and Sam's abrupt exit, you discover Sam is the type of person you love to hate. He is arrogant and easy to despise. You will cheer on Cindy as she courageously faces Sam's abuse and battery. You will applaud her efforts as she balances being a mother and a career woman. Bruce is every woman's, and mother's, dream. His love for Cindy, Sammy and Suz is the type of love everyone longs for. Bruce's bravery will have you loving him in no time. Everyone deserves to have a "Bruce" in his or her lives. Sammy and Suz will have every brother and sister recalling their childhood tribulations. The image of small town America emulates from this book. The Cramptons and Janavics could be anyone's neighbors.

You will be on the edge of your seat, as local detectives struggle to solve a string of gruesome murders. The FBI is convinced that the murders are the work of a resurfaced serial killer that had terrorized New York before eluding prosecution, on a technicality. With the FBI breathing down their necks, the detectives scramble to control the carnage. Cindy is worried that Sam may be back in town, and she has begun to notice that Bruce is not sleeping through the night. Bruce is convinced that he has spotted someone, watching the house late at night and has decided to take matters into his own hands. Could Sam be back, and does he have anything to do with the murders? What are the real reasons Bruce is not sleeping at night?

An easy read--fast paced with a surprise ending that I didn't see coming. Interesting story that makes you want to continue reading no matter what time of night it is and how tired you are when you are reading.
