Cat’s last task in the Extreme Challenge is to give a lap dance to a stranger. Simple - until she landed on Grant Evanston’s lap. Now she’s a pulsating wreck each time she rubs against him. The new challenge is to not have an orgasm in front of everyone.
Grant needs a woman to accept his true gargoyle form before sunrise or he’ll be imprisoned in stone for another twenty years. His extreme challenge just became to not rip the scant costume from the curvaceous Cat. The sexy redhead has set him on fire and there’s only one way this teasing lap dance can end.
Sorry, but gargoyles aren't sexy to me. I tried to get into the story, but I kept picturing those hideous creatures and that was a mood killer. Yes, I'm shallow when it comes to quickies: I want my heroes to look gorgeous all the time, no matter if they're in their human form or their "other" form. It isn't much to ask, considering short stories don't have enough pages to develop characters and make me care about them.
Cat needs to give a Lap Dance to meet her challenge but when she finds herself on the lap of Grant the gargoyle needs something special from her too. I enjoy paranormal so I liked this one.

My Thoughts:
I wanted a quick read before starting a series so headed for the Naughty Nooner section on my ereader. The premise of this story is really interesting. A girl is in a contest to win a car she needs for school. A Gargoyle/hunky guy needs someone to love him no matter what to break a curse. ...ok great! The problem...it is a short story there is no time in a short to set this up in anyway that would actually "work". It jumps in at the lapdance contest. Then suddenly the guy she is practising on is a gargoyle and swepts her away...makes no sense at all. It could have been so much much more. I liked the characters and the idea of the story.
1.5 stars only because her idea was creative and characters likable but she picked the wrong method to get her story across....sorry no recommendation here.
I'd started a book on my iTouch but the kindle software reset for whatever reason and I couldn't remember what I was reading (well, it had been two weeks since I'd started the book so...). I inadvertently opened this while scrolling through and since it was short, elected to read it.
So our h is competing in some challenge to win a sports car that I assume she intends to sell to pay for college. Em... why not just fill out the FAFSA and apply for grants/scholarships? Be a lot less....humiliating than being filmed doing a lap dance on some stranger. That was not exactly a lap dance either, more dry humping.
There was a catch - the random guy was a gargoyle and naturally she was The One, which basically translates to him hunting her down, whisking her off and them having sex while he's in gargoyle form in order for him to well, not be a statue for 20 years....I think. Eh, whatever. Our h, whose intelligence I was already questioning, willingly flew off with him because she was horny, and had no problems whatsoever with near-total stranger shifting to gargoyle form while getting it on. I'd just like to know what recreational drugs she was doing, since apparently they're some really good shit. LOL!
...and I thought I had weird fantasies. This is another novella designed to burn calories and assist in the digestion. I can believe that because as I sat reading in the summer sun, the bologna on my sandwich drooped and the lettuce and tomato wilted as it hung dormant in my hand as my eyes devoured the words on my Kindle. When I finished I spent the rest of my lunch pause trying to catch my breath. Cat, a college dropout, is looking for redemption and a way back to school. She enters a local challenge with thoughts of winning enough money to resume her medical studies. The last part of the challenge was to perform a lap dance on a stranger. This was her first attempt and she soon found her mind drifting as her hips were grinding into a tall, dark and handsome stranger. This task soon takes on another dimension for both the grinder and the grinded. In keeping with popular subjects of the Twenty-first Century, winged gargoyles play a pivotal role. I won’t reveal the plot (is as far as a plot can be detected) and just assure you that the writer’s vivid and steamy imagination has taken me to new areas I never knew exsisted.
I was reading a series of books and was waiting for the next in the series to arrive, so wanted something short to fill the wait rather than starting another series, so started looking about on amazon and found this Sally Painter book in the 'naughty nooner's section, which somebody had told me about.
As it was a free book, and very short, (I read it in about 45 minutes), I hadn't been expecting much, however I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! It was a refreshing change to the paranormal genre to read about a creature that is not a werewolf or vampire, I thought having a gargoyle as the main male character was quite inventive! The storyline was okay but I would have liked it fleshed out a bit more, but then it is probably hard to get condense a tale into a short work like this. On the whole it was a sexy, steamy read that showed promise and the I think this author could do well with a longer plot in the future. Worth a read if you have an hour to fill, (but not while on your lunch break at work, it was pretty steamy stuff)! Lol!
A short, fun, and steamy freebie. Definitely worth the price, and a steal. I liked the characters and the story line. I would've like a little more fleshing out, but alas, it's a freebie and a short story. This was pretty good and covered all the bases. There were some emotions, a little background, steaminess, some humor, and some ideas for the hubby! I wouldn't mind reading this again. Great for an anytime one-sitter read or pick-me-up. This would've made a good full-sized novel. I like the way it was written and will keep an eye out for this author. Enjoy!
Sally Painter sneaks a paranormal element or three into what begins very normal. I had no warning (obviously I did're read the entire description) and was very pleasantly surprised when the rug jerked out from under me. The world she creates reminds me of the Twilight Zone episodes I loved so much.
This is a short, quick, steamy read. It felt complete, which is hard to do with so few words, and satisfying. The characters were as believable as you can get when one is a gargoyle. I've enjoyed other books by Ms. Painter and consider this among my favorites.
I enjoyed this quickie. It was well written and what a pleasant surprise at the end. This story stated off as a woman trying to win a contest by performing the last test in the form of a erotic lap dance, then turned into the something so much more.
This was a decent introduction to the author's writing style and universe. She comes up with an interesting take on gargoyles, and her heroine is both shy and adventurous. I enjoyed the story for what it was, but would have liked it to be much longer. After reading this short story, which is also good as a beach read, I was able to find a few other gargoyle stories from the same publisher, and even some others by this author.
Cat needed the prize in this extreme challenge she was in. The last challenge was to give a stranger a lap dance. The guy she picked out was nice and more than willing to volunteer. When she fled the club she never knew that the stranger would end up at her house.
Nice quickie. Decent heat. It's a freebie. Give it a try.
Another cheap erotica story. Not much more than sex and some random fantasy that felt like it was thrown in as an after thought. Apparently giving someone a lap dance means you fall in love forever. It's free, so if you want some cheap word porn, go for it, otherwise it's not worth reading.
It was only 25 pages and a very quick read. The story has potential if it were longer. The story was alright, but not quite my cup of tea. Creature relations bore me a bit.
This story starts great with a young woman performing a lap dance on stage to complete a challenge. It's hot, provocative and on the way to becoming interesting, when suddenly she's flying over the city in the arms of a gargoyle - WTF! I don't read crap that goes paranormal for no good reason.
On the plus side, there was an erotic lap dance. On the minus side, the guy turns into a gargoyle (although for Cat that seemed to be a plus *shrug*). Everyone has their preferences I guess. The most erotic thing was the lap dance.. everything else was just ok.-..
meh this short was ok but I wouldn't read it again. its an interesting premise and gargoyle is definitely a new thing for me. the sex scenes were also solid but the writing was a bit awkward in spots and parts of the story really didnt make much sense and needed a little more development
Very short hot sexy read to get you through the day. I normally don't like paranormal but with it being short it added a little something extra to the story. Gave it purpose and made it entertaining.
An enjoyable and exciting story of a woman, a sexy gargoyle and acceptance. A young woman enters a contest to give herself a better future, meets a man and they both gain a better future.
