This is a very worthy sequel for the first two books (Wanted and Needed) in the Mingo McCloud series. It gave me the same feeling of breathlessness with one event chasing the next and the mystery of what was going on with various cases Mingo and Francois were trying to solve. It also made me laugh a lot because some of the things that happened were just - too funny.

Mingo must be the cutest forensic accountant in history. Combine that with Francois, the hunkiest PI ever, and you get the bonus of deep love and very hot sex. The additional layer of Hawaiian history and ambiance made this book extra special for me.

I loved the way Mingo deals with everything that life throws at him - and it's a lot in this book - he is certainly one of the most resilient and lovable characters I have ever come across.

Mingo and Francois are BACK! I love these guys. They make me laugh, a lot, and fabulous A.J. always has interesting history about the Hawaiian islands and their culture, and the sex is always smoking.

Mingo and Francois have a case together which is exciting, except that it involves men breaking into Iolani Palace and damaging the original koa wood floors and other items. This is the only true palace on American soil, and the Hawaiian people are heavily invested in retrieving many of the treasures that disappeared when the US dethroned the last reigning queen in 1893. So when Mingo's aunt calls and asks for his and Francois's help, they are eager to get to the bottom of this latest lunatic "king" who claims the palace is his. Mingo and Francois have already assisted with security for the palace and they also work hard to help retrieve missing treasures, so they are very invested in the continuation of this historic and beautiful Hawaiian heritage.

Francois takes this opportunity (HA!) to tell Mingo he has a thirteen-year-old son, Ferric, who lives in Florida with his mom but is coming to stay with them in two days. What? Francois was basically just the sperm donor in this situation and has only had limited contact with his son. Ferric doesn't know his dad is gay and living with a man, so Francois is going to meet them at Disneyland, alone, to tell Ferric the situation. What The?? Mingo is a way better man than I as he takes it all in stride and just hopes Ferric likes him. So, in two days Ferric will be coming to live with his gay father in a gay household and within the week they'll all be traveling to Connecticut for Leilani's lesbian wedding. That's a lot to drop on a teenager.

Typical of A.J., and why I love these books, is that this isn't all that's going on. Oh no. Benny calls Mingo from jail having been arrested for using a counterfeit hundred dollar bill at the grocery store, and Benny needs Mingo to bail him out and investigate. Of course, as is typical of Benny, there's a strong possibility his on-again, off-again lover, Kaolin, is responsible for the counterfeits. When it rains, it pours. Even worse, Ferric and his mother just show up at Mingo and Francois home, with the mom obviously working some attempt to get Francois back. Women. Sheesh.

As usual, I adored this latest book in the 'Mingo McCloud' series. I pretty much laughed through the whole thing and got hungry over all the delicious food that was described. These books are great and I thank you, A.J., for another fun one!

My favorite of this series. It's funny enough to make you laugh out loud, but extremely sweet as well.

I listened to this book in the audio of the boxed set of the first four books, performed by John Solo. So the following review is really for the set which I can't find on Goodreads.

Audiobook Review:
Overall – 5
Performance – 5
Story – 5

HOT, HOT, HOT and great audio performance!

I love audiobooks performed by John Solo but I’d never read a book by AJ Llewellyn, so when I was able to request a review copy of this audiobook, I jumped on it fast. 😊

This is a collection of 4 short novellas and I enjoyed all of them. Mingo McCloud is a forensic accountant and I’m pretty sure I’ve never read a book where the MC has that occupation. While I’m not sure I ever fully understood what he did as a forensic accountant, I fully enjoyed the mysteries he got involved in. However, I think what this series really is about is Mingo’s various relationships.

His ex keeps popping up and causing trouble; an attorney he works for off and on helps provide interesting cases to solve and Mingo’s forever love is a man of many talents and secrets. There is never a dull moment for Mingo and his associates.

I hope the rest of the series comes to audio because I’d love to listen to more of John Solo’s version of Mingo. I almost forgot to mention the hotness factor. While there are great stories in this collection there is also LOTS and LOTS of HOT sexy time and Mingo and Francois don’t mind the possibility of getting caught loving on each other. 😊

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Hilarious and sexy

Once AJ Llewellyn has delivered in the Mingo series. This one was the funniest yet. I was rolling around in hysterics with the whole King thing and the hula hoop. Fast paced, fun, and funny. All the characters are sharp and interesting. The connection between Francois and Mingo is gorgeous. Mingo's mom is a crackup and so is Benny. Never a dull moment. This series just keeps entertaining me. And Mingo and François are sexy and loving. I loved it. Thanks for another great story!!

Francois is still keeping his cards close to his chest and Mingo isn't finding issue with that. They have been together for a year and Francois' past is still a mystery, until he announces to Mingo that he has a 13 year old son that is coming to stay with them for a while.

Mingo took it much better than I did. Mingo rolled with the news with style and made plans for the new addition to their life all the while trying to deal with break-ins at the palace, bailing Benny out of jail, dealing with his mother's new boyfriend. Mingo and Francois son, Ferre, bonded in a very touching moment only to turn around and make me laugh about kings, crown princes, coronations and counterfeit monies.

I really enjoyed the humor in this one. The king is hilarious, and Mingo's mom is a great character. I'm sure she drives him insane. I also loved the introduction of Francois' son. He's a great kid and a great character. I hope to see much more of him in book 4 when it is released.

This one had another menage scene. While it wasn't unexpected this time, I didn't see it as necessary for the plot.
