I've never made a log cabin quilt but have recently become fascinated by them. I admired a log cabin at a quilt show recently and was told the pattern came from this book. Author Marti Michell is seriously infatuated with the log cabin and would be quite happy making only that pattern for the rest of her life, and it shows. The variations here alone make the book worth it. My favorite variation was the magic steps on page 54. Her tips and tricks are useful, too. Be aware that many patterns give the instructions using rulers she designs, but she states in the beginning that you can make everything in the book without her rulers, too. Lots of great ideas for making and laying out log cabin blocks.
