Zhang Wei, born in November 1956 in the Longkou city Shandong province, is the chairman of the Writers' Union of Shandong Province and a writer. He has published more than 100 million words and his works won prizes many times. In 1999 his work ""The Ancient Book"" won the prize of "" The Top One Hundred Best Novels of Chinese""(Asia Weekly), the work ""The Fable of September"" and himself won the prize of ""The Most Influential Work and Writer of the 1990s "" ""The Fable of September"", ""Book of Other Provinces"" and ""Recall Mallow"" ""Stories of Fishes"" ""Romance or Notorious"" won the prizes of ""The Best Full-length Novels"" ""The Best Sellers in China""and ""The Most Beautiful Book of China"" respectively. And his new work ""The Songs of Hedgehog"" is popular among the readers

Zhang Wei (simplified Chinese: 张炜; traditional Chinese: 張煒; pinyin: Zhāng Wěi; born November 1955) is a Chinese author. He was born in China's northern province of Shandong. He graduated from the Chinese Department at Yantai Normal College in 1980. Three years later, he became a member of Chinese Writers Association, an organization for which he has served as chairman and deputy chairman of the Shandong branch. He is best known for his novels The Ancient Ship and September's Fable. In 2011 Zhang won the Mao Dun Literature Prize, the highest national literary award, for On the Plateau, a 10-volume work that took a decade to write.
