This is a unit study based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series of books. These are lesson plans branching out from the historical novels based on the author's own childhood and young adulthood. Margie Gray uses the books as a source, but then branches out into many subject areas, including natural science, math, crafts, music, and history to develop the teaching units. My children found this study fascinating when we were home schooling, and I reread the Prairie Primer to see if it was as enjoyable as I remembered. It was.

We did this when I was in 3rd grade. It was really fun, and had great activities, recipes, and even a little skit that we did.
