Steam Park

Rate this book
Five youngsters get on a ride in Steam Park, and before they know it they're slaves in the park's creepy underground, forced to run the steam works that keep all the rides moving. Are they trapped there forever? An unexpected electrical short circuit brings to life a jack-o-lantern, a tipsy old clown, and some freaky little toys who band together to try to save the children. Author Filippo Neri and illustrator Piero Ruggeri tell this colorful, hair-raising story, perfect for late-night or Halloween reading, entirely in pictures.

Piero Ruggeri
je znám svými komiksovými adaptacemi příběhů několika slavných kapel a muzikantů - The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash and The Doors. Adaptoval ale také příběh Titanicu. Komiks Steam Park udělal společně s druhým italským výtvarníkem Filippo Nerim.
Kniha má pevnou vazbu, 46 stran a formát klasického evropského alba.

When I wandered through artist alley on Vienna ComicsCon then I met table of Italian artist Piero Ruggeri. He was selling there his original drawings and he had there some comics books also in French language. Fortunately I found out that one piece of those books is silent graphic nowell. For 15€ I got new book into my silent collection and also beautiful original drawing with autograph inside!
Piero Ruggeri
is well-known for many collections of music artists in comic books. He has taken famous groups and musicians like The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash and The Doors and turned them into awesome official comics. He has also done a good job adapting the Titanic story, among many others. Comics Steam Park he created with another Italian artist - Filippo Neri.
The book is hardback with 46 pages and with classic european album format. Comics tells simple story from a lunapark where evil owner had kidnaped kids and then he were forced them work as slaves in chains on steam machines for powering the lunapark. But then have happen electric discharge and some attractions, figurines from horror castle and bunch of strange pink plush bears come to life. Then all those figures and bears try to set free all kids and and help them run out from lunapark. It’s quite crazy, isn’t it? 🙂 It’s just short horror fairy tail that you'll read in a few minutes. Art of the Steam Park is really nice - thin black line, shadows by hatching area and coloring by aquarel.

Strange book, Tim-Burton-esque. Good enough, but nothing really special. (Another book where I could use a half-star--I'd give this 3.5.)

Gorgeous art. Boring story.

Flip through it if you see it on the shelf and ignore the text. That'll get you the best of what this book has to offer.

No words! The best kind of picture book! Good for Halloween. I don't know exactly what goes on, but don't tell me. I like thinking about it.
