Close Extraterrestrial Encounters: Positive Experiences With Mysterious Visitors

Rate this book
A clinical psychologist analyzes the extraterrestrial abduction phenomenon finding that the experience can be far more positive than many professionals realize. Dr. Boylan traces much of the trauma that other researchers have associated with extraterrestrial contact to earlier and altogether earthly experiences in the individual's life. After dealing with previous traumatic reactions, he defines a new treatable disorder Close Extraterrestrial Encounter Syndrome and identifies the 20 signs that justify the diagnosis. Nine fascinating case histories illustrate abstract theory with solid clinical evidence.

While this novel is interesting, it is completely biased. There is only one story presented that suggests the possibility that the ETs discussed aren't friendly. That particular story is brief but is the one that stood out to me and resonated loudly. It's the one I think about often. The person talks about being terrified of the possibility that alien visitations are a part their life in some way.

Other than the biased perspective of extraterrestrials being helpful friends (while at the same time the author admits that they take place in government "psy-op" fake alien abductions that instill trauma and terror in the abductees), I can't get over the fact that the author presents the information as though it is factual. What if ET's aren't friendly? What if they ARE inter-dimensional entities? This book dismisses that possibility entirely, insisting that they can't be anything other than 3-dimensional visitors from outer space.

Sometimes there is much more than meets the eye and especially with a subject as controversial and out there as extraterrestrial life forms, these theories as to who they are and why they're here shouldn't be presented as fact. I understand that the author is a doctor who has now dedicated a majority of his life towards studying UFO/ET phenomena. That doesn't mean that he has it all figured out though. He shouldn't be presenting these theories as fact.

With all that being said, there are also several grammatical errors in the book that I can't ignore. The topic is fascinating and obviously comes from a well-thought-out place, which is why I give a three star rating. Aside from that, I say read this book with a grain of salt. You may enjoy it if you like reading about extraterrestrial visitors, etc. Keep an open mind but not TOO open and don't believe everything you read in this book. It may be almost undeniable that people are being visited by "greys" but who/what they are, where they come from, and what their intentions are may be more than we as humans can even begin to grasp.
