Leah is the (half?) Comanche daughter of a ranch owner. He dies, leaving the ranch, not to just her, but also her (previously unknown) illegitimate half-brothers. She's upset about it, and generally gets bratty all over the storyline, even when every other character (including her own grandfather) tells her to chill the hell out, because these guys are shocked and haven't even done anything yet.
She had a dream, where two eagles appear in her sky and then she's being chased by a vulture. Dun dun duuuuuuuun!
So there's someone evil lurking about. It takes about 2 seconds to identify him.
It's a novella, so it's gleefully short. It's an Ellora's Cave book, which means plenty of sexy time (although there was more sex in this book than even I was expecting). The writing is ho-hum at best. The characters are the most one-note in existence. The sex scenes are fun, even if I am not a fan of "quivering wombs" (seriously?).
Favorite sentence has to be, "Leah jerked at the electricity of his touch, her vaginal muscles fluttering in response, the pulsation of her womb like a ferocious drumbeat."
This was a short, erotic, and suspenseful read set in the contemporary west. I keep reading westerns in the hope that one of them will change my mindset about the genre from the fact that I really dislike it and should avoid it like the plague. Sadly, this wasn't the book I was searching for to do that. The heroine used sex to gloss over the problems she was facing, going so far as to not even ask her lover how he felt about her. For all her talk of being part Comanche, she darn sure didn't act like it! She was the most non-confrontational modern, non-Amish woman I'd seen in a long time! And she wasn't a doormat either, because she could and did stand up for herself a few times in the book, but she was just so insecure that she just didn't want a confrontation that she couldn't control the outcome of. It made for a frustrating read, and one that I'll be deleting from my Kindle, as I know I won't want to re-read this!

This is the first short story in a series set in Texas. It is mostly sex scenes with a bit of suspense and intrigue set amongst Leah and Shane's lusty encounters.
For me it was an okay read that had a well used formula of legitimate child being surprised with her two half brothers getting equal shares of a ranch she had thought would deed to herself alone when her father was murdered.
Second part of formula was of course using sex as a way for Leah to shut out thinking about her problems, very hot and satisfying sex at that but still overused as an escape mechanism.
3rd and the most predictable was the villain who threatened Leah after he found her in the way of getting the ranch, which had a hidden source of wealth that came to light at the end.
Not really a bad way to entertain one's self for a bit but not outstanding either for me.
Yes, I knew I was buying an erotic romance when I clicked on this book. I like erotic romance...I still think this book hasd too much sex and not enough plot.
I was hoping for a murder mystery along with the love story. What I got was sex scenes with a murder mystery--there was no relationship development between the main characters, as the book opens they've been together for six months.
The murder mystery was too easy to solve; I could see who the killer was almost as soon as he walked on screen.
All the characters are two-dimensional at best. They left no impression on me--I can't remember their names, and I finished this book several hours ago.
Leah Morgan feels like the rug has been pulled beneath her when she finds out her father has left it in his will to share her ranch with her two illegitimate half brothers. Her fathers murder is still unsolved and it looks like the man she has begun to fall for, Shane Dufy is not all he appears to be or it could be that Grant Fallon, a geologist who has shown interest in her is planting seeds to keep her away from Shane. Who does she trust during this time of turmoil.
There was a lot going on in this story, it was too much for me. I like Desiree Holt a lot but this one I had a hard time connecting with the characters.
A new novella that examines the problems that come when an uncaring, unfeeling, selfish father leaves his Texas ranch to his daughter AND his two illegitimate sons whom he has never acknowledged. There is also a bad guy who wants the ranch for himself. A great love story, lots of eroticism, and a mystery. What's not to like?
It took alot to get into this book, but it was worth it. I didn't like that it just jumped into the middle of things, like there should have been more to the story before the story started. Once I did get into the book it was hard to put it down. Shane and Leah were great characters, Grant was the devil in disquise and at the end of the book I still don't know how to feel about Dash and Mac.
Her father was murdered. suddenly now she has 2 step brothers she didn't know about. A vet who she's having sex with and a geologist who wants something more. Good story line, great characters, hot sex, murder, manipulation, consipiracy and hot scenes.
Hot sex, weak mystery. The heroine, hero and villain were one-note characters, with no subtlety or nuances. Not good enough to read the next book in the series.
