Rate this book
The world's authority on cycling provides a comprehensive guide to the sport for cyclists of all levels

The sport of cycling has experienced an exciting boom in popularity fueled by Lance Armstrong's success and recent comeback, the popularity of triathlons, rising gas prices, and the need to find a sport that lets people have some fun while they get fit. No one knows more about this boom than the pros at Bicycling magazine. For nearly 50 years, Bicycling has brought its readers the most up-to-date advice on everything from training and gear to nutrition and stories of cycling's greatest stars.

Now, for the first time, Bicycling gathers its best advice in The Big Book of Bicycling, a must-have book that cyclists of all levels can refer to again and again for answers to all of their cycling questions. Senior editor Emily Furia and her colleagues have gathered the latest, most useful information on getting started, buying gear, maintaining both road and mountain bikes, training for speed, racing techniques, understanding the rules of the road, and much more. This evergreen book is an invaluable resource for any cyclist who wants to ride their best.

Good book with a wide range of information on everything bicycle. Could be fun to guess, does it have this....? and it probably does. Also has good information for the serious bike rider, too much to me, but a girl can dream. For now if I try to build up to a regular ride, then I can go back and look at more tips to keep building. So glad I have it for a reference material.

Only giving it a 4 because it is a 2011 book, I don't know what other alternative books are out there, and a lot of the serious bike rider stuff goes over my current interest level.

So far this is proving to be a great resource for me as I get started with my first road bike and it looks like it will give me basic advice on everything from buying a bike to doing a century ride.

Alot of really useful information culled from the pages of Bicycling Magazine. The magazine format means the chapters are in small, manageable chunks and yet it has not lost much to a book that flows.

Provides tips on many aspects of cycling. No in-depth treatment of any particular topics, but good all-around book. It has motivated me to get back on my bike.

Awesome book for beginner or wanna be cyclists! It covers just about every topic that would produce a question from a cycling newbie from the most mundane to the most embarrassing-but-need-to-know.

This book didn't know whether it was aimed at beginners or expert racers. The advice jumped back and forth from the "No Duh!" to the "what are they even talking about" with nothing in between.

It was ok. I wish they would have gone into more detailed info... I know how to change a tire but I don't know how to tune a derailleur...
