The Memory's Obsession

Your are a star.” She whispered in my ear. “You shine so bright, it’s blinding. You take my breath away.” I drew back a little and looked at her curiously. “A star? No I’m not.” “Yes you are baby.” She smiled. “Don’t you know it?” I smiled back and shook my head. “No Darling, I am not a star, I know it. How can I be a star? They are so distant. And their light is cold. Yes they are pretty but only when given the chance to shine. They depend on darkness to make themselves prominent and even then they are too weak to shine that bright.” I paused and looked over her shoulder and tried to gather my next thought. “I want to be the sun my love. Burning so bright that you find it painful to gaze at me for too long. Radiating warmth, giving life. Spreading light and brightness with my mere existence. No dark around me, but that I chase away the gloom and herald a new beginning.
