— 4 stars ☆

it was a lot of fun coming back to one of my comfort fantasy worlds <33

i adored the world-building in this, as always. the author always pays such special attention to these details, and i loved that. but tbh it was definitely the characters that hooked me the most, bc i really missed all of them so much. ngl i took some time to acclimate to the ya atmosphere and the characters again, but once i did, they had the exact same clutch on my heart they did a year back. 💗

all these characters were so multi-dimensional bc they were so tortured GOSHH i just feel for all of them and want to kill everyone who hurt them. 🥰

Time passed. She didn't know how much. She stroked his hair and squeezed his hand. She pressed close to his body, so he would know he wasn't alone.

miatyrellgrayson, you guys really annoyed me and still had my heart in this one fr. both Grayson and Tyrell were dumbasses sometimes, lmao, Tyrell more so than Grayson but still. i loved both of them, bc how could i not? they were just tortured boys longing for a home of their own somewhere, with someone, and they just wanted LOVE. someone to cherish and adore them as they deserve. honestly they deserve everything. i love both these boys so much but definitely have more of a soft spot for Grayson, and miagrayson's hurt/comfort was TOP-TIER. plus touch her and you die, and i. was. gone. basically, i have one thing to say to Grayson - STOP BEING A DUMBASS TRYNA PROTECT MIA FROM EVERYTHING; it won't work but ily. both Tyrell and Grayson would do ANYTHING to save Mia which i loved sm. 😩

clarebennick, hmm. these guys bored the heck out of me. Clare was just the typical Mary Sue character and i felt she was too bland for me. Bennick, too, was very tasteless. but ngl that last moment was too cutee. Clare's pov was too boring when it didn't have any action, lol.

serenecardon were actually fun? omg i loved Cardon and how brooding he was, but Serene... mm. i still don't know what i think of her.

but the ones who absolutely STOLE the show for me - ladies and gentlemen, welcome ✨desfanimara✨ and ✨karimrazan✨ to the stage.

no excuse me?? i love my lil cutie-pies sm. fr tho they were the ones i absolutely LOVED with all my heart. i could read books with their banter 🥺, the way Imara was so cute and soft and sunshine-y but was also tortured inside - sue me, i'm a sucker for those heroines, the way Razan was so strong and badass and takes-no-shit and had my heart even tho neither Karim nor Razan even had a pov - now that is true magic. ha - and desfankarim bickering and brotherhood was going strong as usual. 🥰

just look at all this:

❝You're not going to die.❞
She almost managed to smile. ❝You may be serjan, but you don't command the fates.❞
His gaze darkened. ❝I am not losing you.❞
Tears stung her eyes, pain welling in her chest and cinching her throat. ❝I was never meant to be yours.❞
His fingers curled more tightly against her skin.

desfanimara my babies <33
desfan and the way he grew from being such a rebel in his childhood to becoming the greatest king will never not impact me. 🥺

❝You know exactly were I stand, yet you keep hurting me. Hate me if you must, but please just hate me. Tell me that you hate me and let that be the end of it. Don't stare after me. Don't dance with me and touch me like you care. Don't give me the security and warmth of your arms, only to tear them away. Don't give me glimpses of the man who stole my heart, only to shatter me with this harsh version of him.❞

but omg karimrazan was actually SIDE CHARACTERS and they still took everything from me 😭😭 hurt/comfort?? i hate to love you but i do?? bodyguard?? second-chance?? betrayal + secrets?? EVERYTHING.

❝You haven't changed,❞ he repeated, his voice rougher than before. ❝You haven't, because you still have me wholly snared - just like you did from our first meeting.❞

the sparks between them were BLAZING fr and the way i'd been rooting for them for so long and it finally happened >>>

the only drawback i'd say was that it dragged on for a bit in the middle AND the multiple povs got wayy too confusing for me in the starting - i literally could not figure out which character was who and got SO confused. 😭

the problem with having so many povs is that we all have faves and well, i just wasn't hooked onto some other plotlines like Clare's or even Serene's. would i recommend? YES omg for ya fantasy fans i bet so many people would absolutely love this series.

so basically, definitely read if you like:
✧ ya fantasy
✧ complex worlds with twists
✧ swoon-worthy romance
✧ dances and tension
✧ forbidden romance
✧ hurt/comfort
✧ touch her and die

thank you to the author for providing me with an arc. i am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Frost’s writing is immersive and captivating, and I was so excited to get lost in the world of Eyrinthia again. I buddy read this with Dini @ Dini Panda Reads, and I’m so glad I did! It’s definitely the kind of book you want to talk about, with many shocking revelations, tons of twists and turns, and the most amazing romances and relationships. As we read, we talked about how incredibly layered the plot is, with threads woven together in unexpected ways. It’s a fantastic balance of plot, character development, and world-building.

The story picks up where the last book left off, and it’s told much like the other books, from a multitude of perspectives. It’s like reading four books in one, knowing that all of the characters have their own journeys even though they are inextricably tied together. Each character is dynamically developed, and you really get to understand their goals, motivations, and more. They are as nuanced and layered as the setting and plot, and I love that each story is as engrossing as the one before, and each character is as compelling.

Clare and Bennick will always have my heart. They are both amazing characters, and they have such a lovely relationship. Their feelings for each other are sweet and deep and have survived so many obstacles. I love how their romance is progressing and that Bennick is such a strong and steady anchor for Clare. She has given up and lost so much, and she has found people she can trust and depend on, most especially Bennick.

I adore Mia and Grayson, too, and so wanted them to find a way to escape Grayson’s father’s clutches. Grayson is one of my favorite characters, and after what he went through in the last book, I was really worried for him. His family is the worst! Every one of them is just reprehensible, and we really see some of the toxic, abusive, and controlling manipulations they inflict in this book. Their thirst for power knows no bounds. It made me even more stressed for Mia and Grayson and nervous that they wouldn’t be able to survive and be together. I liked seeing them in new settings and facing different challenges, as they flee and try to reunite Mia with her brother. They go on a perilous journey, made even tougher because Grayson is still suffering from the brutal punishment his father inflicted upon him, and Tyrell is hot on their heels.

Though Grayson and his brother Tyrell are enemies, both love Mia, and neither lets Mia make her own decisions. Grayson constantly tries to protect her, and even though he does it out of love, it’s still to the extreme. Tyrell is controlling and selfish, and he doesn’t even listen to her. I can’t tell if Tyrell is truly in love with Mia or in love with the idea of her. Or maybe it’s the idea of having something that belongs to his brother. I hope he gets his act together because he has the potential for redemption, but he’s also got some tough choices ahead of him.

Speaking of tough choices, there are two other romances in the story that are riddled with obstacles, and one completely shattered me. Both couples’ romances are forbidden. Desfan and Imara are both betrothed to others, and Imara’s fiancée comes to claim her. OMG I love Desfan and Imara together! They’re both amazing characters! Desfan has come such a long way, and I feel like he’s going to continue to be a fantastic leader. Imara too! However, I despise Imara’s fiancee and how he treats Imara, but I’m really curious about him too. There’s definitely something shady going on with Imaras family and kingdom, and I think her fiancée is the key to figuring it all out.

Serene and Cardon also have the forbidden romance vibes since she is a princess and he is her bodyguard. Oof. The slow-burning sexual tension between them (and Desfan and Imara) is off the charts! Even some of the secondary romances are intriguing and swoon-worthy.

The found family aspect of the story is also fantastic. Bennick, Wild, Clare, Vera, and many others have formed a friend group that feels more like family. I love how this group has grown and changed as their experiences become more intertwined. Desfan and Karim also have an amazing friendship, and their banter is great!

The story also has a ton of action and suspense, and revelations that I totally didn’t see coming!. Political intrigue and turmoil, brewing war, missing people, daring escape attempts, perilous journeys, assassination attempts, and more create an engrossing, suspenseful, and epic read. I’m so excited that there are several more books in this brilliant series because I’m obsessed! And after that ending, I need to get the next book in the series ASAP!!

I obviously could go on and on about how much I loved the book. I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy YA fantasy or romantasy. There are some darker elements and themes, so I would also suggest checking out the content warnings before starting. Special thanks to Heather Frost for having me on the tour and providing me a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Ok, I still need to take some time to think of my final rating but my immediate thoughts after reading this are: NOAR, I WANT MOAR!!! 😭 Oof, I knew Frost wasn’t gonna let us walk away from this book with our hearts intact but holy granola, did my heart race, my toes tingle, and my head explode at everything that seemed to happen all at once in the last 30%! Woof, this ending was wild and I really really want to get my hands on the next book. Now. Please!

**Note: as this is the fourth in a series where you must read the previous books to understand what's going on, this review may contain mild spoilers for certain parts of the previous books, but I’ll try to keep it as vague and contained as possible!**

The story picks up almost immediately from where we left off in the previous book. We reunite with the huge (and expanding) cast of characters spread across the wide expanse of locations in Eyrinthia. We had Mia, Grayson and the nasty ass Kaelin family in Ryden; a big chunk of main characters still in Mortise (Desfan, Karim, Imara, Serene, Cardon, Wilf, Clare, Bennick, and Liam to name a few), and later on in the book a few characters make their way to Zennor. The plot remains pretty politically heavy but I still found it fascinating to read about the machinations and scheming of these good-hearted and well-intentioned royals as they’re pitted against the nastiest, most power-hungry, depraved and merciless enemies one would hope to never face! If you’ve read the previous books, you’ll probably recognise the pattern of Frost's writing in that much of the pacing in the first half is slower and a little meandering, with the pace steadily but quickly picking up in the second half.

I feel like in this book, there was a lot more movement both on and off the page compared to the previous books and Frost also introduces a mystery aspect, with whole villages suddenly going missing, and I really enjoyed the sinister atmosphere that seems to be brewing beneath the surface just out of sight. Where are all these people being taken? Are they alive or dead? Whos' taking them? I had my share of theories that I couldn't stop telling Julie about as we buddy-read this, and it was so nice to finally have someone I could actually talk to about this series! 😂

With the increasingly tense political plot and the mystery of the missing people, there's still even more that goes on with the characters and their relationships, and they are still my favourite part of this series. It was nice to reunite with all of them but I have to say my favourite couples in this book were: Imara+Desfan and Serene+Cardon.

Imara+Desfan: As they're promised to others for political reasons, the forbidden and growing romantic feelings between them created some delightfully angsty and emotionally charged moments of epic pining, especially from Desfan. The man is a simp and we stan! I loved their connection and how much they cared for each other. Desfan continues to be one of my favourite characters in the story, although I don't envy him his position and the complex decisions he has to make. Imara complements his character so well with her sharp tongue, wit, and fierceness. My heart was all tangled up knowing the predicament they were in, especially when Imara's brute of a betrothed stepped into the picture.

Serene + Cardon: Theirs is also a forbidden romance but between a princess and her bodyguard. Cardon is the stoic and grumpy older bodyguard who would literally die for the woman he's not only sworn to protect but whom he fiercely loves. I'm a sucker for characters like him! Serene has a much smaller role in this book and although she has big decisions to make for the rebellion, I enjoyed the more playful side to her character as she tries to get Cardon to open up to her and acknowledge his feelings for her and how they love each other. Their arc really had me in a tight hold and I really really need to know what happens after that cliffhanger with the two of them at the end—my heart was in my throat!

The other couples, of which there were plenty, were great as well, especially Clare+Bennick. They're the "OG" couple whose relationship has really stabilised over the course of the series, even if they still can only be together away from the public eye due to Clare's role as Serene's decoy. They were very sweet and although they definitely go through it (again) in this book, with a former enemy coming back out of nowhere for some very tense life-threatening scenes, I'm so glad that they're (seemingly) getting the HEA they deserve!

That said, the couple that's most heavily featured in Royal Rebel is Mia + Grayson—and unfortunately, their relationship delves a bit into love triangle territory with Tyrell. I very passionately disliked Tyrell and my toes curled up with distaste every time he would try to talk Mia out of being with Grayson and every time he would get in between them out of some twisted and misplaced belief that Mia had romantic love for him. Like, the whole man needed to be thrown out, please and thank you! 😂 We all know how I feel about love triangles so I wasn't really into this and the ANGST started really getting to me, especially because Mia was too kind-hearted to see Tyrell in a negative light. While she stays very true to character, it definitely didn't make it any easier to see her excuse Tyrell's actions, simply because she believes there's good in him. The scenes between the three of them and between Tyrell and Grayson were very intense and I'm honestly more than a little afraid for what the murderous Kaelin family has in store for Grayson—WHO MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. HE'S TOO PRECIOUS.

Overall, this was an exciting addition to the Fate of Eyrinthia series that adds more tension and drama to an already politically tense and murderous story, and I really enjoyed it! 😃 I don't know where Frost is going to take us next with this series but I do know that whatever is coming is going to be bad and I'm simultaneously terrified and impatient to find out what's going to happen!

Let me say first, I just love this series! Every book gets better and better. This book brings many of the characters together who've been at the forefront in the first three books. So when I say, please read the first three books before this fourth book, you will be glad that you did. There are a lot of characters in this series from many different lands and kingdoms.

Author Heather Frost has done an amazing job with the world-building in the Fate of Eyrinthia series and because of that, you'll want to know how everyone fits into this huge puzzle of characters and kingdoms. Speaking of characters, there is a lot of romance in this novel. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of action throughout the book but there is also a great amount of breath-taking kisses between characters you've been rooting for in the previous books. It is hard to pick out my absolute favorite couple but Grayson and Mia were at the top of my list along with Desfan and Imara.

Between the political intrigue, the action full of sword fighting, nighttime escapes, assassination attempts, and secret romantic trists, there is also a bucket load of cliffhangers! Oh man, I couldn't breathe the last part of the book. This author is good at writing cliffhangers and knows how to bring her readers back for more. You are always in for an exciting read when a book is penned by Heather Frost and Book #5 can't get here fast enough.

Heather Frost does it again. This series is a top favorite of mine and Royal Rebel is another win. So much happens, I can’t even begin to summarize for fear of spoilers but it is a thrilling, nail biting ride I won’t soon forget. The author has created a world full of characters I love and some I do not love, but love to hate, and I love every page. Every detail and character is important because while you’re reading, you’ll be hit with twists and turns you will not see coming but will have you aching for the next book.
This is book four in series. It is recommended you start with book one.

Author Heather Frost has written another fantastic addition to the Fate of Eyrinthia series in book 4. This story picks up where book 3 leaves off. This story focuses on the romance between Mia and Grayson, while still weaving craftily incorporating other character’s stories, romances, and pointes of view. Frost has an amazing way of capturing the attention of readers and drawing them by transporting them to another world from the turn of the first page. Packed full of fast paced action with the ongoing war and of plenty of sacrifice and romance, readers will not want to put this book down.

This book was good. It continued the story nicely but I wasn't really a fan of how so many characters had there own chapters. A few of the characters should have been side characters in my opinion. I did not care about a few of their story lines enough to want to read a whole chapter about them.

Once you are transported into the world of Eyrinthia, there is no way you can come out of it with your mind and heart completely intact. Sometimes you have to keep in mind there is also the possibility of not making it out at all, just ask the characters . . .

Everyone plays a dangerous game and gambles with time, possibly even more so than in previous instalments. In fact, time is running out for our beloved characters and, with decisions having to be made fairly quickly, some actions can lead to a direction that perhaps it was better not taking . . . Or was it? What is certain is that the stakes are even higher, the main characters continue to find their way into your heart, while bad guys keep adding to your blacklist, and you can’t help but love the conflicted emotions the author infuses you with. Readers of this series are like tortured souls in need of a happy ending, but still longing for all the twisted things that can happen in the span of a chapter. Mind you, the whole story is just terrific!

Another action-packed instalment that makes you feel everything the characters feel, and cheer for them all the way through. And if each of their small victories feels like your own, know that you have already won the biggest prize by getting your hands on these books!

I received a free copy of this book from the Author for an honest review. This does not affect in any way my opinion of the book nor the content of my revieworiginally posted on Darkest Sins.

Return to Eyrinthia with Frost’s 4th installment in the Fate of Eyrinthia Series! If you have read this series before, you know how intense things are getting in all four kingdoms! This book picks up where Frost left us hanging at the end of the Royal Captive. (She has a real gift *cough* curse *cough* with ending her books with multiple cliffhangers, and this book is no exception!) We return to all our favorite characters and see them all struggle to hold their respective roles as the world around them continues to crumble. This book is intense and keeps you flipping the pages late into the night! Frost does bless us with some answers, as well as some fluffy romance and comedic moments. But the fluff never lasts long. You find yourself on edge in those moments because you know something is bound to go wrong at any moment!
Frost blows me away every time with her ability to write about so many sensitive topics and make them relatable. We see trauma and abuse, torture and revenge, grief and hope, feeling trapped by our circumstances/responsibilities and rising to the task, addiction and recovery, betrayal and trust, the list goes on and on!
I wish I could put into words my deep love for all of these characters and these books, but I feel like everything I write just doesn’t do justice to how incredible these books truly are! Sooooo don’t waste any more time thinking about picking up this series, and just do it! You will not regret it!

Review:

This series is so beyond addicting. I went from being interested in the series and finding out what happens next to being addicted to the series and NEEDING to know what happens next. I love all the characters. I love the world! Okay, I don't love ALL of the characters. I don't LOVE the evil ones. I do love their role in the story though. I love that this book introduced more perspectives than the first three did. I am still reeling over the ending. This series will be a reread for me! It's so good! The covers are also all so gorgeous!!! Read it!!!

I was so happy to rejoin the cast of the Fate of Eyrinthia series! These characters have become like friends of mine so it was wonderful to read an early copy of this book! I rounded up to four stars although this felt more like a 3.5 for me. I’m not rating it as high as the others in the series for the main reason that this book felt a little like a “middle book”. It was a bit slower, but that is partly because there are so many POV characters and jumping around to everyone breaks up the story. I think I also need more romantic tension. There are love stories developing and continuing in this book but I felt something was lacking - I think because all the characters have their “assigned” or obvious love interest I found the romantic aspect of the book to be a little flat. Despite the flat romance Heather Frost does a wonderful job at balancing all the characters and their adventures - keeping the pace steady throughout. Although the book suffered from “middle book” syndrome I never wanted to put it down. Heather does a wonderful job at infusing feeling into her characters making them come alive on the page.

And after that crazy ending I’m so ready for book 5!!

I really really wish this book was only about Mia, Grayson, and Tyrelle. I'm sure the author realizes that they have the most intriguing story... so I'm not sure why she gave their POVs the least amount of limelight. I tried to be interested in the other's over the course of the series, but i just couldn't seem to stay interested, especially in comparison to Mia and the two princess.
I admittedly ended up skipping over the other main character's chapters after awhile in this book, so i feel i can't really give a star rating.
Sorry to my sister in advance 🫣😩😬

I don't know why I start series that are not yet finished, but now I am going to have to wait. As in the previous book, I love the adventure, romance, mystery, and friendships in this episode. It's a long book, but I didn't put it down willingly and have had to restrain myself when I had actual responsibilities. My favorite character in this was Mia, and I am looking forward to her storyline in the next book. The ending is a heartbreaker, of course, but I am most excited about what Frost is going to do with Wilf. I can't wait to find out!

*this e-arc was provided by the author to give an honest review in return*

Praise for Heather Frost: Frost is the next Sarah J. Maas with her new word of Eyrinthia. Readers will love this action-packed romance series that keeps on getting better and better.

This book is part of the series and I don't recommend reading this review if you haven't read the first three. This book picks up from book 3. I really enjoyed reading this book as it was action-packed. Frost's writing style never changes which I enjoy about her writing. It has the same flow as her other books. I do have to say that the storyline pace was a bit slow for this one. I felt that Mia and Grayson's escape was taking way too long and could have been a bit short or had more thrill to it. This book is still written in multiple povs of I believe 9-10 characters but it's not overwhelming. Overall the writing and story were really good and I enjoyed how action-packed this book was.

This book mainly focuses on Mia and Grayson's story but the other's perspectives are still in here. I really enjoyed that because Mia and Grayson are my favorite characters right now and I just enjoy reading their story since there is so much to happen to them. I also enjoy the others but for now, I think they are going to be the sides as their story is not here yet or it's finished. The romance is still the same and only one new couple is formed in this book. I enjoy how the couples are set up right now and hope none of them break it off.

The ending was well done and I'm so excited to read the next book. I'm really enjoying this series. I literally read this book in two days because it was hard to stop. With the chapters being short, it's easier to fly through by just saying "oh let me just read another chapter". I totally recommend on going on with this series as you won't regret starting it.

Hello all! Can I just say how obsessed I am with Grayson and Mia!! I couldn’t WAIT to get my tiny little hands in this book bc of how Heather left things in the last book!!! AND BOY OH BOY SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT
If you wanted more Grayson and Mia GIRL YOU WILL BE BLESSED!!

In this book you see even more of the selfless love that they have for each other and my heart literally BURNS for them. I love how they love each other I absolutely adore it. I want that type of love. Like Grayson just staring at Mia because she’s smiling and laughing and he’s never seen something so pure and beautiful. Like he cannot believe she loves him, he counts himself as the luckiest guy alive to have her affections EVEN despite his sins. She sees past the Black Hand and just sees Grayson.

“Are you the Black Hand?”
“He’s Grayson.”

ABSOLUTELY DIED

And Mia admiring him because of how much she loves him and how he often he saves and protects her against the world. LIKE AKAKSKSKALALLALALALALSLS

This series is an incredible fantasy series! There is a large cast of characters, but their stories are woven together so well, and I love reading about them!

I feel like I spend a lot of time on the edge of my seat when I read a book in this series. They’re so intense, and they’re written in a way that makes the reader need to keep reading!

The tension and depth to the story is so well done. Heather Frost is an absolute master at writing books like this, and I am in awe at how everything fits together! I can’t wait for the next book. I need more!

Content:
Clean romance
PG-13 violence - mentions of torture, fighting, and murders. I did skim a few violent parts, but only because of my reading preference. The violence is not overly descriptive.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another amazing installment in the Fate of Eyrinthia series! The stakes keep getting higher and there's more romance to be had as war encroaches on our heroes' doorsteps.

While I felt this book suffered some middle book syndrome - which would make sense as I believe Frost has said this will be a 7 book series! - it remained a fast paced and enthralling read.

There were a lot of new mysteries introduced and a couple plot threads resolved. I'm so eager to see the payoff to some of the big setups in this and previous books, as well as to see the new mysteries sorted out!!! Book 5 can't come fast enough!

It has been a long, long while since I whizzed through a book (much less a series) as quickly as I devoured Heather Frost’s Fate of Eyrinthia YA series. There are four books so far with two yet to come (stay tuned for those reviews as she publishes those books).

The series opens with castle servant, Clare, being coerced into becoming the princess’s decoy. She quickly is joined by a huge cast of characters that range from a handsome bodyguard, a scarred assassin, and a grieving prince to fearless princesses, pirates, spies, politicians, and so much more. I have tried multiple times to craft some kind of coherent summary of the four books, and I just can’t. It’s quite an intricately woven tale, and Frost really does weave it well.

Since I have decided not to bother with creating much of a summary for you, I’ll just dive right in with what I liked and what I didn’t. I really enjoy reading as an escape, and the fantastical world of Eyrinthia provided that exactly how I hoped it would. While this wasn’t fantasy in that there were mythical creatures or magic or anything like that, it still had elements of a fairytale world. I don’t love super involved fantasy, so this blend worked well for me. I really loved the medieval setting as well. In my opinion, that era lends itself so nicely to a whimsical, sweeping story.

Frost also writes romance in a way that I find, well, romantic. I’m not always a big fan of steamy scenes, but I do love a good lover-rescuing-lover moment, for example. And I especially love when a couple gets together early on and stays together, so you can enjoy their love and growth versus an on-again, off-again journey for several books. I will say the romance did get a little corny and repetitive from time to time (more on that later), but overall, it was clean, and I liked it. I also appreciated the nonexistence of foul language.

I’ll touch a little more on Frost’s actual writing style further below, but in terms of the plotlines themselves, they are quite well-written. Frost’s wide range of characters and locations may seem chaotic when you try to summarize the stories, but when you’re reading them, it is easy to track who is who and where is where and enjoy the journey of them being intertwined. There are some parts I predicted, but there are many parts that have kept me guessing. She does a good job of world-building, and I really looked forward to the end of the day when I could travel to Eryinthia for the evening.

My only real dislike: I don’t think Frost is that strong of a writer. She writes rather repetitively. The romantic moments almost always include the girl “curling her fingers” into the guy’s shirt. There are a looooot of attack scenes that feel a little similar (she writes each one differently; there are just so many it feels like every big event is a set up for an attack). She uses a lot of the same words for characters’ dialogue or actions. Things like this. Does it detract from what she does well (world building and plot spinning)? A little bit, if I’m honest. But not enough that it’d keep me from continuing in the series. There is a fair bit of descriptive violence/injury as well.

This series was everything I had hoped it would be when I started it. It was captivating, sweet, clean (in terms of language and sexual content), romantic, intriguing… I really did enjoy it and am disappointed I have to wait for the next book to come out. If medieval fiction is your thing, give her a try! I hope you’ll find it an easy escape too.

I received an ARC for this book: Royal Rebel

Words cannot express how wholly this book captured my heart. I felt every ounce of pain, happiness, anger, fear, and love right alongside the characters. I love the first three books in this series and have been waiting very impatiently for this one. These books are branded on my soul and will never fade. I cannot wait for the final two books and the events that will play out in them. I couldn't put this book down. Each chapter ended in a way that made me want to keep reading from that characters point of view, but then the POV would change. It was frustrating, but all I had to do was read a few lines into the next chapter and I was hooked onto the next POV. I am completely, utterly, wholeheartedly captivated by these characters and the plot line. At every turn I found myself happily frustrated because I just wanted to know what would happen next or why something was happening. Part of me was screaming, "Get on with the plot and tell me the secrets!" while the other part was screaming, "This is so perfect right where it is, keep building the suspense!" Never has an author made me feel so many conflicted emotions while reading. It was pure bliss and torture at the same time.

May contain some small spoilers, but nothing serious or outright! Just my general thoughts!

Clare and Bennick will forever hold my heart with their beautiful love. His fierce protection of her never fails to astound me. The way he gently cares for her after she receives the news of her brothers deaths is beautiful. Her accusation of Grandeur had me cheering to the skies. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Rose returned and everything that happened with him was INSANE. Then there was the ending chapter between Clare and Bennick....it was glorious. I may have started to cry.... Can't wait to see what happens with them in the next two books. I have been rooting for them since the very beginning and I will continue to root for them until the very end.

Mia and Grayson continue to hold faithfully to their love. I love how they are so faithfully devoted to each other. They never doubt their feelings for each other, even when they are doubting so much else. Their determination to stay together and keep each other safe lifts my soul. They would literally do anything to save each other. Their journey in this book was captivating. Their sacrifices for each other stand as a testament of their love. I was relieved by their ending in this book and I can't wait to see what happens with them in the next one. I know Tyrell will stop at nothing to have Mia and that terrifies me because I just want him to leave them alone!

Serene and Cardon continued to make me want to pull my hair out through this book. Each moment with them was perfect, but frustrating. Each moment of their journey had me wondering what would happen between them next. Serene's last POV left me completely shocked. I didn't know what to think or do. I went into full on panic mode as I searched for her next chapter and didn't find it. That cliffhanger was complete torture. I want to know what happens next!

The relationship between Karim and Razan was built incredibly well. They are side characters, but I am so invested in their relationship. They have so much back and forth between them that it is completely frustrating, but the way things turn out with them is very satisfying.

Venn and Vera are another couple that I simply adore. Their love for each other is so obvious and I love how well that was depicted. I want them to be together forever. They are so beautiful.

Last but not least we have the couple that stole the show in this book....Desfan and Imara. Unfortunately they aren't a couple because they are both betrothed to other people, but I CAN AND WILL NOT get over them. EVER. Every interaction between them was mesmerizing. They literally left me in a puddle on the ground. When Skyer showed up I wanted to throw something through the book at his jerk face self. He is the absolute WORST! The way he treats Imara makes me completely sick. Her beautiful soul deserves so much more than what he has to offer. Desfan's protectiveness over her made me so fetching happy. I was like, "HECK YEAH BOY! STAND UP FOR YOUR WOMAN!" Anyways, their ending chapters left me extremally stressed and I will suffer until I get to read book 5.

I am very intrigued by Liam. I want to know about his past and motivations. I hope he plays a bigger part in the next book. I don't trust him, but I also don't think he is entirely evil. He is a mystery.
I really don't like Tyrell. I wish her would be able to find happiness away from his awful family, but he is so obsessed with Mia he isn't even giving himself a chance!

The continuation of this plot is so interesting. I just want to know more! The way it is being built up is blowing my expectations through the roof. I love how many different paths are being traveled at the same time. Different characters have different purposes and goals and it is just amazing.

I have so many questions that I don't want to wait for. Every character had a chapter near the end of the story that ended me on a cliffhanger I did not want. What is going to happen with Imara's engagement? What will Desfan do? Are Mia and Desfan going to be reunited in the next book? They seem so close, but will they be ripped apart again? Is Grayson really going to be thrown into jail if they get back to Mortise? Will Mia manage to convince Desfan to keep him out? Who were the friends of Liam's? What role do they play? What is his past? Where are Serene and Cardon? What will happen with the way things ended with them? What about Wilf and his discovery in Zennor? Are Clare and Bennick really going to find happiness? What else will happen to pull all of these characters apart or together? When is the war coming?

This book is the perfect mix of love, adventure, suspense, intrigue, and excitement. I couldn't put it down. I would recommend it to anyone, and that's what I will be doing the next few months before it's official release. Heather Frost is an amazing author and she never fails to amaze me with her writing and world-building skills. Royal Rebel was a 1000/10! I LOVED IT!

Royal rebel starts out with a bang, picking up where book 3 left off with Grayson and Mia’s story.
As with the other books, there are several concurrent storylines, each written with its own tone, allowing the reader to see the full picture.
There is Grayson and Mia fighting to escape from Ryden and get back to Mortise while Tyrell does everything in his power to win Mia over. Despite Grayson’s injuries and continued fears of what will happen when he gets back to Mortise, his quest to get back to Mortise is more desperate than ever as his father has recently revealed one of the kingdoms darkest secrets to his son, one that will massively impact the entire Erynthia…
There is Desfan fighting through grief, fear, and hope to run his country and keep his people safe. Alongside him is the ever more appealing Imara who is forbidden to him through his betrothal to Princess Serene and hers to the terrifying clan leader Skyer. Imara’s new disability as new threats to Imara’s safety keep Imara in Mortise and Desfan at her side as he aims to uncover the dangerous threats coming from Devendra, Ryden, and Zennor…
There is Serene embarking on a secret mission to Zennor to try to build a new alliance between Mortise and her uncle, the King of Zennor. Hidden beneath that is her attempts to continue as the leader of the rebels, conducting subversive meetings throughout the journey. Unspoken is the love between her and her bodyguard Cardon, a constant factor as they are forced to interact in less formal environments. New mysteries arise as entire towns of Zennorians have been disappearing…
There is Clare and Bennick fighting for their secret love as Clare once again resumes her role as royal decoy for Serene. They must contend with her grief for her brothers, her newest secret, and the reappearance of an old friend…

This book is spectacular and feels like an incredible setup for the culminating book 5. Despite the constant back and forth between POVs, Ms. Frost’s mastery of tone keeps each storyline and relationship fresh and unique leaving it easy to follow. As a setup book, this was not my favorite thus far in the series, and there were points that I felt were a little long-winded, but overall this book was gripping, well-written, and compelling. There were some great twists, some smaller plot arcs wrapped up and others started. I cannot wait to see how everything unfolds in the next book!

Content: a fair amount of violence. No profanity. There is romance with a number of semi-detailed to detailed kissing scenes.

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

On the heels of the third book—which left me breathless with its scope and complexity—I wondered where the heck Frost would lead us this time. Now, upon finishing Royal Rebel, I see this book as more of a bridge connecting previous installments to what’s yet to come. With that in mind it works well, though by the same token it meanders a fair bit, presumably to put things in place for what comes next. As a result, we’re left sort of suspended, with no major changes in the plot. Just lots of directions and destinations.

Even so, there’s a lot going on. Loads of characters. New revelations. Lots of romance. I didn’t struggle to follow along, but I did occasionally feel strangely weary from the constant peril, much of which might’ve been avoided if certain characters would use their brains.

(Vague spoilers: After the first attempted assassination, who the heck isn’t posting guards at her very back, like forever?? And whhyyy would you trust a high profile prisoner, even a little tiny bit, who recently tried to kill you?? 🤣)

*ahem*

What I love most about this series is the variety of characters. They’re each unique, aiming for their own goals—even if said goals don’t align with other peoples’ goals. They feel real. Most truly come alive. Make mistakes. Hurt others, even while trying to help. (Or not help, as the case may be.)

The writing is solid. A few repetitive lines or terms, but nothing that kicked me out of the story. What got under my skin was (brace yourselves) the romance. It’s a lot more prominent in this book—which only makes sense, as it’s a Fantasy Romance series. Please bear in mind that as a non-romance reader, I’m enjoying this series despite that particular aspect because I adore Frost’s plot and world-building—and yes, her characters. Especially Grayson. (Though he annoyed me a fair bit in this book, even though it’s really not his fault.)

Note: Readers looking for allll the romance couples will find them here in spades.

If you enjoy court intrigue, brewing war, complex politics, royal life, large casts, spies, assassins, morally gray characters, villains you love to hate, heroes worth rooting for—and heaps of swoony clean romance, you will eat this series up.

And even if you’re not into loads of couples (couples everywhere!), you—like me—may find yourself hooked anyway.

Looking forward to book 5!

This has very quickly become my favorite book series! Heather is just an expert at weaving so many character storylines into one cohesive and entertaining story. I've read other books that have multiple POVs, and I definitely think Heather is one of the best at keeping each character's individual personality, style, and story, yet not making a mess of the overall story.

Like many others, Grayson and Mia are my favorite. The way they have completely leaned on each other from the beginning is just so adorable and amazing. And hearing how each one feels like they are the one who isn't worthy of the other just cements how they are meant for each other. I can't wait (Heather, please don't make me wait too long!) to see how their relationship grows and endures what's to come next.

Desfan and Imara are my second favorite. Imara is someone I would love to have in my life. She sees the best in people and, despite going through a lot, she tries her best to help others. In this book, we learn more about her country and her fiance, which makes us appreciate her even more. Desfan is the same and I enjoyed seeing him really get into his role of Serjan, and hanging out with Liam a bit (I won't spoil that!). I wish he would fight for Imara a bit more, but I also understand his royal obligations.

Clare and Bennick. I know everyone in Erynthia goes through a lot, but man, this poor couple, lol. In this book, they go through a lot again, but it's endearing to see how they always handle things together, how they communicate with each other and think of each other when making decisions. They do seem to get a little relief, but it also seems like more is to come for them...

Tyrrell. Ugh, I feel so bad for him, but he really isn't helping himself. In the beginning of the book, it's sweet to see he is still trying to help despite his feelings. I almost felt like Grayson was exaggerating, but then he tries to stop Grayson and Mia. We got teased with a little Grayson and Tyrrell fight, maybe we'll get a showdown in the next book?

Serene is the one I have had more trouble connecting to, but this book has definitely helped in that respect. She can definitely be a little hard around the edges, but we got to see her away from royal life in this book and it was fun to see her open up a little more. Also, she's trying to help Desfan and Imara so she's immediately on my good side.

Overall, this book answers questions and resolves situations only to give you more questions and more situations (but don't we want the series to keep going, anyways?) It also deepens a lot of the relationships we love, and deepens our hatred for the villains (even gives us one more).

Giving out Advanced Reader Copies in exchange for honest reviews is always a risk for authors, but for Heather Frost, she has nothing to worry about. Royal Rebel is the fourth book in her Fate of Eryinthia series and it just keeps getting better and better!

She takes you on a journey in every book and it’s action packed, emotional and keeps you turning pages! With multiple points of view, she gets you into each character’s story just enough to make you want more before the chapter ends and the perspective changes. Then you’re left dying to get to the next chapter from the first perspective, but you’re also really enjoying the new POV, and the cycle just continues. It really makes it so hard to put down!

The world of Eryinthia is so immersive, and well described that you feel you are there, walking alongside her characters, experiencing their problems, heartaches and victories right along with them. There’s the perfect amount of description that gives you the basis on which to imagine the world and everyone in it. No detail is wasted and nothing is worth skimming in her books. Every word counts.

Her characters are all so relatable and the way she writes, it’s as though you are feeling everything the characters are feeling. She’ll have you crying, laughing, biting your nails and cheering for every character. It’s a perfect mix of seriousness, romance, action and fun to lighten things up.

Favorite quotes:

“ Desfan’s smile widened. “I can’t,” he said, as he twisted back to face them. “This is just so fates-blasted romantic.” “

“ From the corner of his eye he saw Tyrell twist away. The predatory beast in Grayson growled in satisfaction. “

“Tamar’s smile wavered with emotion. She leaned in and pressed a kiss to Serene’s forehead. It was an almost motherly gesture, and Serene hadn’t felt that kind of comfort or affection in far too long. “

If you haven’t read the series, definitely start at Royal Decoy. Once you start, you’ll be flying through the books, they’re just so hard to put down!

Wow, this is one of my very favorite series ever! I was left reeling after this book. I am SO NOT OK with some of the things that were left as a cliffhanger..... cough cough.... Serene's last POV.

How is it that I am so thoroughly obsessed with EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER? I keep hoping they will all have a happy ever after.. but chances are not everyone will. Imara and Desfan are some of my very favorite characters. I loved their growth and their relationship in this book. I also loved Grayson and Mias adventure. Grayson literally has the worst family I have ever read about. We got to see just how terrible his mom was in this book. I have a soft spot for Tyrell though. He just loves Mia so much and I feel so sad for him because I don't see how things can work out for him.

Clare and Bennick are still precious. We love them so much. Some people might view Clare's POV as slower this book. And it is definitely slower at times in this book. I was happy about that, though, because it was a much needed break for her and Bennick. They needed some time to heal after the last book. Although that doesn't mean they don't have their fair share of drama in this book.

All the side characters add so much to the story too! I think the side characters bring even more unity to the book because everyone has their own quest they are working on, but it mingles with the overall plot.

I just love Heather's writing style. It is so easy to get pulled in.

My husband was worried about my sanity while I was reading this book because I kept pacing and yelling and freaking out the entire last half of the book. This book get so INTENSE. There is so much going on, but it never feels too convoluted.

I could spend a very long time going into depth about all the characters and everything that happened, but I don't want to give any spoilers. Go read the book yourself! This is a great addition to the series and it did not disappoint in any way. I am even more obsessed with this series than I was after Royal Captive!

I have been a big fan of Heathers for over a year now when I first came across this series. With each book, I devour it. They are completely unputdownable. You're engaged from the first chapter. I don't know how she does it but her world building, character development and just the way she writes gets better and better with each new book. She makes it to where you feel like you're in the story. You will genuinely care about (most) of the characters. You'll be crying, laughing, blushing, worried and smiling along side them. There's suspense, intrigue, fighting, hilarious banter, swoony and heart fluttering scenes, gut wrenching twists, various physical and mental/emotional obstacles (most) of the characters go through and I love it. I tend to read stories that aside from excellent plots and good character development, they'll tend to have a decent amount of spice and usually and open door scene or two. With Heathers books, yes there's romance. Yes there's flirting and banter and kissing and angst. That said, she writes clean/closed door/minimal to no spice. Everything is so well written and I become so immersed in what's happening that that particular aspect of the series , that I don't care whatsoever about spice. No sense of anything lacking at all. After I read this latest book, I immediately sent her a msg on IG to tell her how much I loved it The ending has so many cliffhangers with the characters I was left in suspense. My jaw was dropped and I had been on the edge of my seat almost all day finishing. I'm excited and nervous for the next one. To see what happens. Five stars from me.
(I was given an ARC so I could provide my unbiased feedback on this latest release).

I have started and erased this review three times now because I just cannot find the right words to express just how much I loved this book and this entire series.

Where is the ten-star option when you really need it?

War is on the horizon in Eyrinthia.
Royals. Assassins. Soldiers. Spies. Rebels. Pirates.
No one knows who to trust, and one wrong move could cost everything.

Reasons to LOVE this book/series:

Captivating characters (warning: you WILL get emotionally attached!)
Multiple POV
Bodyguard trope
Fantastic world-building
Action and adventure
Intriguing plotlines that intersect in ways you never imagined
Morally grey characters you love anyway
Strong friendships/group camaraderie
Intense suspenseful scenes
Plot twists that blow your mind
Super swoony romances (yes, that's right. Multiple)
Oh my word, the kissing scenes!
Forbidden Love
Bennick. Grayson. Desfan. Trust me.

I don't want to say to much and give things away because you really just need to experience these books for yourself.

I binge read 2500 pages of this series in a week because they completely sucked me in but I loved every.single.minute of it. What else can I say to convince you to give these books a try? I seriously cannot get enough and will be anxiously awaiting the last two books of the series. You need to read these - trust me!!

Fans of Mary Pearson, Jacqlin Guernsey, and Shari Tapscott will enjoy this series.

Note: You MUST read this series in order.

CW: Lots of fighting with mentions of injuries/blood, some torture; kissing only
TW: drug addiction (past), manipulative/abusive parents, death of family members, stalker

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
