Knowing the Struggle is Over addresses the hardships of everyday life and the weight we put on our own shoulders to make things right. If I chose just a few words to describe this book they would be “a pep talk for life!” K.M. Johnson’s enthusiasm and passion for the things of the Lord shows forth all throughout the book. She shares her own struggles and the path that led to her finally “letting go and letting God” take care of everything. In Knowing the Struggle is Over, she describes her three step process: 1. Stop Complaining 2. Letting Go and Letting God 3. Acknowledging Him
K.M. Johnson’s writing style in this book is very personable, as if she is sitting across the table from the reader having a heart-to-heart talk. Her enthusiasm is contagious as she describes how to accomplish the goal of releasing the cares of the heart and embracing the compassion and love of God. Rich with scripture, the book will help the reader come to the realization that the fight has already been won, and the only thing left to do is rest in the peace and comfort of God. This is a good book not only for individuals seeking a life free from burdens, but also appropriate for gifts, small Bible study group, book discussion groups, or as a devotional.
Knowing the Struggle is Over! - Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat
K. M. Johnson is a remarkable woman. She has been in the U. S. Army for 12 years. She served her first four years on active duty, the other eight in the Reserves. She recently completed her 12 month tour in Iraq. Whether you are man or woman, that's impressive to me. The hardships she has gone through in life and her way of handling life's battles has become an inspiration to me. Whenever I've had a hard day or life has thrown more problems at me than I feel I can handle, I simply ask myself "What would K. M. do?" I then pick up Knowing the Struggle is Over, read a couple of pages and feel much better. Through following the three simple steps suggested by K. M., I have developed the courage to face problems and start the process of dissolving them. Knowing the Struggle is Over has become a book that I keep on my bedside table. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
This book was a great read! The author did a great job of walking me through her personal journey of overcoming struggles. I really love how she made sure that we understand the importance of having God in our lives and to be careful of imitations of His greatness that can come in many forms. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that has been or currently lost about how God is always watching over us. I also recommend this book for those who are trying to figure out why they are going through certain things in their lives.
This book, as I noted, was a First Read Winner for me--great program. Thanks. While there is much good about the book, especially from a younger writer, it wasn't particularly "my thing". But, having said that, I have to say that I am a spiritual motivational speaker myself so much of what she said, I already speak about. Her three main points about not complaining, not judging and trusting God are all good reminders.
However, though she says not to judge, in at least two places in the book she judges Oprah and her "new religion."
Also, this is for a more conservative, and possibly younger Christian reader, I would think. Twenty-eight, the author's age, is young to have faced all the challenges that come as we mature. And, not all Christians believe that "God ordains the storm that you are going through."
She's an enthusiastic writer; the book is chock full of Biblical quotes so for people who appreciate that, this book would certainly fill that need.
