Henry Buchanan is cold. Calculating. And rich. He's also the owner of the new Lion's NHL team, and my boss. Oh, and did I mention he's a grumpy sonofabitch who's girlfriend is cheating on him? Not that I'm gonna say anything. It's none of my business anyway.
Besides, we aren't friends. And we couldn't be more different if we tried. He was born with a golden spoon in his mouth. I was born scraping by for every meal.
Still. I do need this job. And creating social media content for a bunch of hot hockey players is a walk in the park. Until the infamous Henry Buchanan starts to act jealous. But what's worse? My response. Frenemies with benefits, anyone? Yeah. Because I have a history of making great decisions.
Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she's not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.
She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she's actively pursuing her writing dreams, she's set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.
I am very much unwell now that this series has officially come to an end. But I am so content at the same time because I got everything I possibly needed out of this book! Henry Buchanan is my favorite and has pushed his way to the top of my book boyfriend list. This is officially my favorite book in the series. My whole book is highlighted to the brim with favorite quotes, actions, moments, etc! I was giggling, kicking my feet, and staying up past midnight reading this book and when I finally got to the end I stared at the ceiling wondering how i’ll move on! This series is absolutely INCREDIBLE and deserves all of the hype it gets! Kelsie did such an amazing job bringing these characters and their stories to life, and I genuinely feel these are real people living their best lives. 5 BAJILLION STARS
- 1 star for the man being filthy rich and not taking her on a single date -1 star because you can’t convince me these people have feelings for each other -1 star for every single female character in the series getting married and pregnant before the age of 25 -1 star for everyone in the book being an idiot

“Never gonna let you down, Brat. Never gonna let you go.”
Why is no one talking about Kelsie Rae ?! My gosh, I’m addicted to her writing after just one book!
IF YOU LIKE: grumpy x sunshine boss x employee he falls first forced proximity hockey frenemies with benefits only one bed "who did this to you?" "good girl"
Mia is in need of a job when her former professor and current owner of an NHL team offers her a job as the team’s social media manager after he finds out her ex is still harassing her about the OF page she used to have. Henry even gives her an apartment in his building!
All I see is her.
While this book has 400+ pages, it’s so fast-paced, you’ll be flying through it! Henry, while a grump, is a true cinnamon roll at heart. 🥰 He’s so caring and loving and patient towards Mia, navigating their “friendship” at her pace. And the way he lets down his guard for her so she can trust him! I was so giddy!
"If you let me kiss you, it isn't going to stop here. I will take you to the nearest hotel, spread you out on the bed, and taste every inch of you. Because fucking hell, Mia, I've been craving you ever since."
I also went ABSOLUTELY FERAL over this protective man! Mia has an abusive ex who comes back to remind her what he can do to her. And when Henry finds out, whew!
HE OFFERS HIS HOCKEY PLAYERS A BONUS FOR GETTING THEMSELVES PENALIZED WHEN THEY TEACH HER EX A LESSON. The team has an absolute field day, because they love Mia so much. 🥹
I am truly unwell over knowing these characters aren’t real. Kelsie’s writing made me feel like I was alongside these characters and like I was a part of this beautiful found family. I cannot wait to dive into the previous books and get the next generation series! 🙌🏽
Kelsie Rae - you've done it again, but not only that! You've done it the best!! This Book, Don't Let Me Down, has got to be, by far and away, my favourite of yours, my favourite of this series, and what a way to end them all! You sure wrapped it up with a bang!
Bringing in all of the characters (and thank you for Let Me Love You to give epilogues of the other character arcs, because it was so important to have those details coming into this book), continuing their journeys as Lions hockey players, with this book being about the team owner Henry, and his obsession with the player's and their WAGS bestie Mia (he used to be her professor, before he started the NHL team at LAU).
When Henry found out she was being harassed by her ex about an OF (only fans) page she used to have in order to survive, the only way she could earn enough to pay student loans, he creates a social media manager position for the team to hire her, gives her an apartment in his building, and somehow, even with a no fraternization policy for the team, he gets her in his bed (he has a girlfriend he's got suspicions about and he doesn't want Mia there - but it somehow still happens).
It's such a fast-paced story, and even with it being over 400 pages, it feels like it's too short - so much happens, with Henry and Mia, with Mia and her ex, and with all the characters from the previous books. I hung on every word and wish there was more to the book! I'm sad that this one and the whole series is over.
I love this entire series, I love Kelsie Rae, and I cannot wait to start the second-generation books now - there was a sneak-peak chapter at the end for the spin-off series and WOW! Now I'm even more excited to keep reading everything she ever writes! I'm a life-long Kelsie Rae Stan!
If you have not read the Don't Let Me series by Kelsie Rae - I don't understand what you are waiting for? Even if you don't enjoy hockey romances, several of these books are only just hockey-adjacent, including this one, so you should just run out and pick up the whole series now. She's a brilliant author and storyteller and you don't understand what you're missing out on! Especially this book!
I received a copy from BookSprout and this is my honest review.
5⭐️ This series was adorable. This book was definitely my favorite by far it just gave everything it needed to. I’m so happy Mia finally found her happiness and I am just so in love with Henry.
The good: the plot line was cute! I liked the overarching ideas, and the spice was well done (but not overdone).
The bad: Had a hard time empathizing with these characters. It also felt like slapping together a bunch of popular romance themes to make the story work: billionaire, hockey, sex worker, fake dating.
Once again the instagram ads got to me. What can I say they make all these books sound so good! Which is not to say that this book was bad, it was just a a little unexpected. First of all this is like book 4/5 in a series so I was missing a whole of lot context in terms of the side characters which made it harder to get the "inside jokes." I don't know why goodreads doesn't tell you what number in the series it is, that would have helped. Anyway, it was also a little darker than I expected. I don't necessarily mean that in like a evil way but if we consider contemporary romance to be a spectrum then this book would be right next to Mafia romances if that makes any sense? I feel like it's toeing the line being a mafia romance and being a sports romance while somehow technically being neither? But that't not the point. Overall an average read, I might read the rest of the series but who really knows?
Gosh I almost forgot just how much I love this series & Kelsie’s writing. She just knows how to truly pull you in from the very beginning.
This is book #5 in the Don’t Let Me series. It follows Mia & Henry. We have met Mia in the other books of the series. Her story starts out with her needing a new job & place to live after graduating college. She’s having trouble finding a job due to her past “OF” account until one day her former Professor & the owner of the new NHL team in town — Henry Buchanan — offers her a job as the team’s social media manager & an apartment in the building he owns. She’s reluctant at first considering she’s sworn off all hockey players, but quickly realizes that it would be smart to take the job & easy since she’s good with social media. But what happens when she ends up having to share a bed with her new boss while they’re on a trip for the team’s first away game? What could possibly go wrong?
Henry & Mia were so perfect together. Henry was so patient & kind with Mia considering her past & her hesitancy to jump into a relationship again. The way he always gave her exactly what she needed when she needed, even if she didn’t want his help, was so dang sweet. I also loved how bold & confident Mia was but I could also really relate to her & the struggles she faced internally.
It’s safe to say I’m extremely sad this series is over. I have loved all of these characters so much!
Tropes: - Sports Romance - Team Owner x Social Media Manager - Workplace Romance - Friends with Benefits - Forced Proximity - One Bed - He Falls First
Okay, so maybe sports romances just don't work for me if they're not enemies/rival to lovers.
But also, this book was just WEIRD. What in the world does the FMC's dad being murdered by someone tangentially related to the MMC's family have to do with the romance plot? Nothing, because the entire setting surrounds the hockey team, so it's a really weird plot element to include since it amounts to no real character growth.
The MMC gave me the ick. I really just don't like the overbearing billionaire trope and I'll never forgive fifty shades for making that toxic shit so mainstream. It also a bit suspends belief that .
I don't really know why I even finished this book, other than needing to mainline some junk romance lit before moving on with Throne of Glass. I'm not taking insta reel recs anymore!
After waiting impatiently for this book, I can absolutely say it was worth the wait!!! Mia and Henry are fire! I loved the way they pushed one another to do better and be better. His patience with her was surprising and very sexy, and it was beautiful to see how he led by example, letting his walls down first to show her that it was safe to let hers down with him.
I could go into details about all the scenes I adored, but I won't spoil it for any of you. Just know this book is the BEST in the series, and I've loved every single one of these! But Mia and Henry take the cake!
Can't wait to dive into the next generation and see everyone's kids get their HEA!
It is a great addition to the series, an enemies to lovers story with great banter. Mia has so much baggage, and she could easily give up. She does not; her moxie and smarts get her everything she needs but her own happiness. Henry realizes her struggles and is there for her. Let’s just take a minute to appreciate Henry; he is perfect book boyfriend material. I think you will agree after reading the book, and all the others that come before it, if you have not done so.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Honestly not a hockey romance, more of a professor/boss forbidden romance with a small hockey element. Now I liked the small amount of Christian grey vibes I was getting but that was it. There are a lot better hockey romances out there than this.
4,5* I think this book might be my favorite out of all four books (technically 5 books but I didn’t feel like reading about Colt and Ashlyns drama story and his surpise child 😅). I was so excited for Mia to finally get the happily ever afer she deserves! Out of all of the the grils in the friendgroup, she was definitely dealt the shittiest hand in life and it was quite wholesome seeing her work through her trauma with Henry’s support! In the first book we get to know a bit about Mia and the fact that she was in an abusive relationship with one of the schools hockeyplayers. Eventhough this man lives in another state and plays professionally, he still manages to torment her from afar. That is until Henry comes in the picture! Henry Buchanon is a wealthy man, who after relinquishing his shares of his fathers company, decides to start teaching as a professor and uses his money to invest in a new professional hockey club and arena. This is the team where Colt and Theo end up playing for! After hiring Mia as his social media manager, they end up starting a friend with benefits type of situation due to loads of sexual tension between them. This more so Mia’s idea seeing as she has developped quite some trust issues in the male species… She wants to be little miss independent and is afraid to open up to others, whether it be her best friends or strangers. However, Henry is just the right person who seems to understand Mia like no other. He knows when he needs to push but he can also recognise when he needs to take a step back and give her some space to ensure she doesn’t run! Or well at least until he reaches his breakingpoint and claims her as his in front of the entire arena! He also deals with the abusive ex-boyfriend in the most satisfying way! All of this leads to Mia slowly lowering her walls and letting Henry in, reliquishing control and having someone take care of her for once! I thought that the dynamic between both characters was so well written! It was this kind of push and pull situation, her being super closed-off and scred, him being protective over her! I’m just gonna add that I’m also a sucker for the ‘who did this to you’ trope 🤪 I woulde definitely recommend reading this book but it just kind of sucks you need to read the first two books to know the full background of the characters in the last two books 🥲
This book was EVERYTHING! I like many waited as patiently like anyone obsessed with kelsie’s books could be! And let me tell you it didn’t let me down! I absolutely devoured this book. I couldn’t put it down. The sass, the banter, the spice, the fluff, the tears all of it kept me hooked. And now I can say I can’t choose my favorite couple she makes it so hard with every book that comes out!
I loved the banter between Mia and Henry so much! Let me just say that man could call me brat anytime!!
This book absolutely slayed! I can’t wait to read the next gen. And thank you for the sneak peak of it!!! As always Kelsie you are a queen and a genius with a pen!! I have loved every book in this series!
I had been very hesitant to pick this series back up since the last; Let Me Love You was technically ’the end’ but really was one book too soon. Before reading Don’t Let Me Down it always felt like an after thought, so I gave up on finishing. BUT once I started reading Kelsie Rae’s side series The Little Things it felt more important to go back and finish the ‘parents’ stories before diving into the kids. (Which IS creepy when you really think about it so I try not to!)
But since reading the final love story of the friend group, the story feels complete. It wasn’t my favorite as so many real life red flags were shown, it was still fun to read, because fiction men are just better.
This is definitely one of my favorites from Kelsie. I have loved everything though so I guess that's typical lol. Henry and Mia are incredible. Having got to know Mia a little bit through the other books I felt like I already knew her coming into this one but was pleasantly surprised when I got to know her even more. Henry is 🤌. Book husband material. Up there with Macklin from Don't Let Me Break and 1 other absolutely perfect fictional man.
I absolutely loved Don’t Let Me Down! It’s my favorite of the series! I loved Henry and Mia together! The were perfect for each other! What started out as a casual relationship turned into so much more! When Mia’s ex causes her trouble, Henry and the whole Lions NHL hockey team protect her. It was great to see the characters from the other books. I hear there will be a next generation series! I hope it’s true! I look forward to reading it!
I really enjoyed this "unlikely match", their relationship experienced realistic problems/ obstacles and Mia's past made her more mature than the fmc's from the previous books.
Also, I cried near the end. "You Promise, Mia?" IYKYK
Listen, I love a smoldering, possessive, billionaire, “who hurt you?” trope as much as the next romance reader, but instead of enjoying this one I just thought all characters would really benefit from some intensive therapy.
finally done with this series!!! i actually liked this one a bit more than the last couple so ending with a bang (as much of a bang that a not good hockey series can go off with).
