I went to them to save my life, but they won’t stop until they own my soul.
I’ve lived in No Man’s Land my entire life. Whether it’s belladonna dust to keep warlocks from hexing your car or ash wood bracelets to hold back the fae, you get used to the loopholes of being a human in a supernatural minefield. But suddenly being collateral for the world’s biggest shipment of stolen fairy coke? Not on my bucket list.
And if this shipment isn’t found? Kicking the bucket is the least of my problems.
Caught in between two rival MCs, I’m forced to take sides for the first time in my life. But if I’m honest, it was never a choice. The Iron Shadows—a band of brutal fae who rule the South Side with a fist as hard as the iron they can’t touch—have always wanted me.
I feel their eyes on me every time I step on stage, and I would be a liar if I say I didn’t love it. But peace was always more important. Until now.
These men show me a world I never knew. Power, pleasure, and maybe even love. They’re as addicting as the drugs I was traded for, and have vowed to keep me alive. I believe them. But there’s a catch: once you belong to the Shadows, you never come back.
*This book is part of a shared world, but is a standalone and can be read independently.*
Devyn Sinclair writes steamy Reverse Harem romances for your wildest fantasies. Every sexy story is packed with the right amount steam, fiery hot men, and delicious happy endings.
She lives in the wilds of Montana in a small red house with a crazy orange cat. When Devyn's not writing, she spends time outside in big sky country, continues her quest to find the best lemon pastry there is, drinks a lot of tea and buys too many books. (Of course!)
Had the pleasure of reading this new book by Devyn Sinclair and it was great! I've never read a Paranormal MC book before and I really enjoyed what it added to the usual MC style books.
I really enjoyed that they were Fae, and I love some morally grey men, especially when they have magical powers.
I loved that each of her mates had such different personalities and different kinks bringing something different to the relationship. Her bratty confident attitude was quite enjoyable and there was no lack of spice it was 🥵.
I received an ARC copy of the book but I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
This one is on my DNF shelf for now. I read to 44% but it just didn’t give me much reason to keep reading. The instalove/connection just doesn’t do it for me. It’s an interesting world and idea but not well executed for me.
Too much smut. For a 350-something page book, I was expecting a lot more relationship building (or any lol). I'm not 100% averse to insta love especially for fated mate books, but when you add in dom/sub dynamics outside the bedroom without any trust built beforehand, the whole book reads like erotica with a half-baked plot that failed to even build up tension for the actual smut (aka the bare minimum). It's not that the smut was bad, it just wasn't satisfying which kind of made finishing the book seem pointless to me.
I hate to generalize, but I think fantasy books by this author tend to be a miss for me.
PHENOMENAL Listen. I read this book in a DAY and I’m already going back into parts. Skyla is such a fun bratty independent character living in a paranormal world with some HOT paranormal bikers. Each one so unique and full of kînk. The plot keeps you on your toes and things happen you don’t see coming. Sexy fae biker men who are kinky affff. Need I say more?
I have only read the omegaverse books by Devyn Sinclair so far, this was a totally different direction and I absolutely loved it! Even though it was Fae and Warlocks I definitely felt a monster romance vibe whilst reading it.
Silver, Wraith, Comet, Grave and Delta are dominance personified. Skyla has to go against her human urges to rebuff them and let them take control. It has all the 🌶️, with CNC, somnophilia and primal play to name a few. Please check authors page for TW’s.
Cream puff is super cute. I want a cream puff for myself! 🤭
Towards the end of the book, there is a kickass line which I would tell you if it didn’t give the storyline away, I actually said “f*uck yeah” out loud 🤓
I would of loved to learn even more of the back story of all the characters, especially the guys.
Would definitely recommend, if you love a spicy book with a twist 🤭
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰: Book 5 of the Ladies of the MC Series. A multi-author shared world where each book follows a different set of characters and can be read as a stand-alone.
𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: Skyla is trying her best to live a ‘normal’ life in No Man’s Land, a land in between where two rival MCs have to coexist. But when her life time secret is revealed and used against her, she has to turn to the MCs she’s been pining over for the last few years. She must rely on them to lead her in the right direction, to accept her new life and all that entails. As well as help her serve out her revenge… and revenge is a dish best served cold… and bleeding. 😏
Silver, Delta, Comet, Grave and Wraith are the perfect group of guys, all bringing different personalities to the relationship… as well as their own individual kinks 🥵 You name it, one of these guys wants it. These guys are the definition of obsessed mixed with touch her and die. Throw in a little fae magic and then some shadow magic… and well you will just have to see. 🔥😉
This book will grab you by page one and it won’t let go. I’m talking about ignoring all adult responsibility so you can read “just one more chapter”. This is also one of those books where there’s so much going on you feel like it takes place over a month when in actuality it was only a week. I loved the paranormal take on the MC trope. I love Skyla. She was quirky, fun and a bit bratty. I really enjoyed witnessing her embrace her new life. She pushed the guys but also felt the power in submitting. I loved Cream Puff (aka Puff), Skyla’s little winged kitten that’s trying her hardest to fly. Puff had a personality all on her own and it was absolutely adorable. Definitely recommend reading this one!
“Oh, I will put you on your knees, baby girl. But we both know that when I do, you’ll be begging to be there.”
“I know Silver already told you, but you’ve always been ours. Stay mad, baby, but you can’t avoid us forever.”
“Don’t you dare apologize to me. I want you to feel every emotion you’re feeling, no matter what it is. We want you to fight us and fuck with us. Argue with us because we know you can throw everything we give right back. “The five of us aren’t gentle men, or gentlemen, baby girl. We’re rough and raw and fucked up, but we will burn the world down for you if that’s what it takes, because you belong to us. So keep that anger and live with it as long as you need it. I’ll be here to fuck it out of you.”
“That’s my girl,” I growled, grinding against her clit. “Beg me to hurt you and make you see stars at the same time. Your throat will be raw from screaming my name.”
“Get ready to die of pleasure, little dancer, because we warned you. Once we’ve had a taste, we’ll never be able to stop.”
“Every day, baby girl. You will have a cock in you. Pussy, ass, or that gorgeous mouth of yours.”
It takes a lot for me to not finish a book. So much so that I have never left a book unfinished. Until now. Yes I understand the warnings at the front of the book explain that it’s consensual even though at times it doesn’t feel like it - I would say that it really borders on that line. To the point I couldn’t continue reading it.
Read the trigger warnings on this book and take them seriously if you do not like reading about being controlled, being made to be submissive when it’s not in your nature, punished for her own “good”. It’s a no from me.
Devyn Sinclair's contribution to the multiple-author series, Ladies of the MC, was Skyla, a steamy, dark read. I love paranormal organized crime, it just adds a more exciting element. Devyn made all my dreams come true, it's a Fae MC versus a Mage MC, and it was fantastic.
For someone who doesn't trust easily and is hiding what she is, Skyla has an amazingly bright personality. She genuinely cares about people and her passion for dance (she's a stripper) is a spark in her life. That's not to say she doesn't have a dark streak in her, she doesn't mind killing if it's for the right reason. She's the perfect match for the guys. She is their light that is comfortable in their darkness.
The Iron Shadows are a fae MC, they are not good men, but they are honorable. Silver is the leader, he's stern but fair and always in control. Delta, Wraith, Grave, and Comet are his lieutenants, all fair but brutal. Delta is playful and crazy violent. Grave is the strong but silent type. Comet is the nicest of the bunch and Wraith is just that, wraith. Each of the guys is crazy for Sky, they want to cherish and protect Sky with all that they are. However, they're not pushovers, Sky does have limits that she pushes all the time.
For the majority of the story, Sky is trying to come to terms with her heritage. Learning that it's okay to want the things she wants and to stop holding herself to other's standards and the guys help her do this in some very steamy (and kinky) moments. Outside of the relationships stuff is the paranormal aspects and I love it. The stuff about hybrids was unique to the story and I greatly enjoyed that. In a surprising turn, the Iron Shadows MC is actually the majority of the Shadow (fae) Court, and Silver is King. Shadow fae are rare and have some really cool powers, that I totally want. The Shadows are in a feud with The Blazing Legion, the mage MC has a big chip on their shoulders. There were past grievances, a broken treaty, and betrayal. Really they were more of an annoyance than anything.
That ending was fast and hot. What a great read, by the end, Skyla was not only finally comfortable with who and what she was but she found her power and happiness with the guys by her side. This may have been a standalone but other courts were mentioned and I wouldn't be mad if Devyn has more books planned in this world.
This was. . . Different. Look, I love a good dark romance as the rest of us mentally unstable readers do, but this is a little alarming.
I understand there are trigger warnings, and I’ll admit, I didn’t pay attention to them as much as I should have, so I know that is totally my fault. I take responsibility for that.
But as I mentioned in a comment, I’ve heard about the non-consent consent, which makes logical sense, but I don’t know emotionally why someone would agree to that, because to me, it’s borderline rape. Or very, very close to it.
I couldn’t finish the book. I got to around halfway when a certain scene happened, and they intended to hurt her. Look, let’s just say I’ve read a lot and my tolerance is really high. But this. . . It’s like they are sadists and are using their biology as fae as an excuse.
And trapping her in a freaking cage? I didn’t like that, but what I absolutely hated was the metal collar around her neck, and the fact that he planned to keep her in that cage, possibly all day.
I think my main problem is this: I feel like if she started balling her eyes out and begging them not to do it, they would do it anyway. I think that is my problem.
Okay, so I guess it’s not rape yet, but it’s potential rape, which I feel is just as bad.
I don’t know if this review made sense, but it was disturbing for me, especially since they use instinct as an excuse, claiming that they’re helping her.
Bullshit.
This is about power, not their biology! They enjoy being the dominate ones and while that normally doesn’t bother me, I like dark romances where they would do absolutely anything for their girl. They would never, ever go to this extent. Sure, they might do some freaky stuff that is borderline questionable, but they take care of their woman directly after.
Delta putting her in that cage for a day seemed waaaayy too much. Even the baddest dark romance book boyfriends wouldn’t keep her in the cage the whole freaking day!
I have never read a book like this and it messes me up; I couldn’t finish it.
Again, I know this is my fault. I always ignore the trigger warnings because it takes a lot to bother me, but good lord, this book was testing my morality
- motorcycle club - hidden powers - paranormal w/ political intrigue - touch her and die - morally grey mms…for her, yet ruthlessly villainous against the world.
📖 My Thoughts
this book was good read. It had such a deep plot that it felt like it was the first book of series…unfortunately besties it’s still a standalone.
I really like the plot. I enjoyed how the author was able to mesh the paranormal which some human aspects. they may be fae but there were quite a bit of parallels.
I enjoyed the story overall but there are pieces where I felt could’ve been flushed out better. Ex) the climax over the key war…it seemed to have so quickly that it got lost in the plot line. another point comes to when skyla “ages up” (iyyk). We had all this build up and it kind of just happened? We didn’t even really get a true look at who she becomes or is she as dark and villainous as her mates.
although I have more questions than answers, I did really enjoy the book. It’s a great page turner and I am sucker for paranormal stories. This was well written and mended seamlessly in this share world. I’ve read two books so for and had similar thoughts…so I can only conclude these authors truly thrive off tears.

📝 Special Notes
I did receive this book as an arc but all opinions are my own.
I am already a fan of Devyn Sinclair, but I was not expecting this. This entire series, filled with different authors has been great and I love how all of the stories differ so much.
This story is filled with top alpha energy of Fae and Warlocks. In a town caught in the middle as a general no-sides town, No Man's Land, the people can live out their lives without being caught in the crosshairs between the two MCs. That is until Skyla's secret comes out and now both MC's have their own reasons on not to play nice anymore. Skyla is whisked away to Shadows MC with Silver, Wraith, Comet, Grave and Delta.
Long story short, Skyla's secret comes in shock but makes so much more sense to the officers of Shadows MC as they claim her to be their mate. Only now, she needs to decide if becoming Fae is a deal breaker. The Warlocks want her and are taking it as an act of war if they don't get what they feel is owed.
This story is full of the six of them getting to know each other and all of their delicious kinks. The threat lingers each day, but finally after years of waiting, they can only focus on her. With turmoil and addiction, being able to force Skyla's half-fae side out is the upmost important. Time is of the essence has her kind can be easily swayed.
Will Skyla level up to all the wants and glory of being a Fae? Will the Warlocks get what is owed or will the people of No Man's Land suffer the consequences.
This book was steamy and intriguing. This series continues to keep us on our toes and this author does a great job at continuing the legacy. Cant wait for both more from this series and this author.
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 5/5 *Fast/Med Burn *Multiple first person POV *Ends on HEA
For those who love: • Multiple POV • Why-choose • Paranormal romance • Motorcycle club • Fated Mates
This book was just what I needed! I wanted a spicy standalone I could finish in one night, so of course I chose a Devyn Sinclair book. And after discovering Devyn's works last year, Skyla was already on my TBR.
How could I be disappointed with a spicy why-choose, fae motorcycle club romance? The answer... I couldn't. I loved the world I fell into reading this book. The characters were complex and engaging, and the magic system and creatures were so interesting.
I Ioved Skyla; she was fun, strong, and a little bratty. She stood up to her guys, and everyone else who came at her. Including when she rescued Cream Puff, the flying kitten, from the Warlocks. Anyone who would stand up to a group of assholes tormenting an animal is simply awesome.
As leader of the MC club and King of the Shadow Court, Silver and his princes (Grave, Wraith, Comet and Delta) knew from the very first time they met Skyla that she was meant to be theirs. Each of the five were different, yet similar; very attractive, powerful, and oh so morally grey. 😉 They would do anything to keep Skyla safe and happy. I definitely loved Silver and Grave more than the others. I feel like more time was spent developing their relationships, and their chemistry with Skyla seemed more natural. 😉
This book was very spicy🌶, which I loved. Each of the guys had their own kinks and proclivities which stopped the spicy chapters from feeling repetitive. This book does contain elements some readers are not comfortable with, so as always, I recommend checking the content warnings before reading.
A Why Choose, fae, MC romance by Devyn Sinclair?? It's a no-brainer that I was gonna devour this book! 🏍 Skyla has lived in No Man's Land her entire life, and she had no plans to come out of hiding. That is until she becomes collateral for the world's biggest shipment of fairy coke, and he deepest secret gets outed. Now, she has to turn to the Iron Shadows MC for help. She's wanted the leaders of the MC for years but has kept herself apart from them. Now that her secret is out and she's in their grasp, Skyla realizes maybe she can have it all... If those looking to use her for power don't ruin things first. 💃🏽 LAWD,this book was hot af ,and honestly, what else did I expect from Devyn Sinclair? This story and the men in it are darker than Sinclair's typical books, and the spice is on a whole other level. Some stuff may have even gone too far for me, but then the rest was oh soooooo good. Skyla is one lucky lady with FIVE men ready to give her the world and a ridiculously cute winged cat named Cream Puff by her side. ☠️ I gotta say Grave is my favorite of the group, just barely beating Silver for top spot. Grave is the strong, silent type who keeps all the secrets and yet still turns to mush when Skyla picks his hoodie to wear. He's a BIG fan of sőmŋopĥiĺia and has plenty of tricks up his sleeves. And Silver with his punk dom vibes just makes me melt. The other guys are no slouches, but I'll take these two any day. 🩶 I had so much fun with this read. It was action-packed and full of growth and emotions. Skyla had a lot to learn about herself, and the guys were there every step of the way. Thank you so much for the ARC opportunity @devyn_sinclair! I hope everyone gives Skyla and the Iron Shadows some love!
TLDR- this book is hot as FORK and I think you should read it!
Skyla was such a fun book! This is an MC series where each book is written by a different author, this is the first one I’ve read so far.
Skyla is such an interesting and relatable character to me. In this story, we see her grappling with hard truths and sifting through what society has told her to find what she actually wants and believes for herself and seeing that push and pull really resonated with me. I think she’s a loveable character and I can’t wait to talk about her with more people!
This is a why choose romamce with five MMCs and I have to say there are two things I REALLY appreciate about this book. First, I understand the magic of the “perfect trio” where one is the leader, one’s a goofball, and the third is dark, brooding, and mysterious- but it gets predictable. These five males (fae) felt like fully fleshed-out people with their own preferences, desires, outlets, etc and it made it even easier to connect to the story. The second this is the COMMUNICATION in this book! The author strikes a balance between fully walking through boundaries and expectations while still letting things feel organic and exciting and fun. It made such a huge difference for me, as a person who struggles sometimes reading CNC, I could read this and truly enjoy it.
Overall, I think this was a great read and I look forward to seeing the rest of the series.
Tropes included: Fated mates, secret identity, motorcycle club, touch her and die (literally)
Check Devyn Sinclair’s website for content warnings.
I usually am into the soft and steamy stuff with a lot of story right? This was my first book with darker elements in the steam that felt RIGHT. Not forced. Completely integrated and enjoyed. I shut the world out for a bit to finish this book and may have found a new genre I like. Please all the soft and steamy people give this one a try because even though it's dark they can still be Cinnamon Rolls. Do it for Creme Puff (fiery kitten with wings aka Comic relief.)
Anywho, actual story and not my fangirling time. Skyla is that girl coming into a new part of her life that's about to change her forever. I don't really read fae books (shifters are my favorite niche atm) so some terminology got me off guard, but essentially a coming of age. Silver, Grave, Wraith, Comet, and Delta are all hot steamy guys that she has no idea why she's been into them for this long. Well, the guys throw her for a loop and spend the book telling her that she can embrace this change and they will be there for her. Skyla experiencing change was really relatable in the fact we all just wanna keep the person we are in the moment and don't realize we have to break the shell of our cocoon to become the butterflies we are supposed to be. A lot of great lessons in this book along with the steam and story and OMG I WANT A SEQUEL OR SOMETHING WITH THE FAE. Also, Silver (for the steam and personality) and Grave (personality) were my favorites in this one.
"For her, I would be as good as I could. I couldn't harm her or force her. But she was it. Ammelune. Mate."
"I belonged to the shadows, and like hell was I ever going back."
Fantasy Dark Romance Why Choose Multi POV Atypical Motorcycle Club Constant consent checks Praise Magic Turf War
I was very surprised by this book. I saw it was motorcycle club and almost dreaded opening it because of the way females generally are portrayed in them. It's usually not my thing. No offense to those kinds of books at all. Those are just not for me. This was not your typical MC romance. The women are not treated like the "Old Ladies" in typical MC. Add in the dark and nasty elements along with the fantasy, praise, and consistent consent checks, and I am in love. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. This book is heavy on the erotica scenes and possibly more than 50% explicit erotica scenes. I didn't keep track, but the scenes were literally part of the story and not a side bonus, which I also found super interesting. I love Multi POV reads, and Skyla didn't disappoint. The story was original, and the detail used was good.
My heat rating is based on the amount of occurrence, length of scenes, and how filthy/unconventional the scenes are. There are several different k1nk$, so check content warnings. This rates high and heavy at a 5/5.
I have to say that I am loving the paranormal motorcycle clubs in this series! Reading about a different type of supe for each book has been so fun and I love all of the different takes on the common supes that each author has done. I feel like some of their imaginations were let loose and free to do whatever they wanted. Devyn did such a great job with the fae in this book and I love that they controlled the shadows. It's so much different from the regular elemental powers we see in books and I feel like this fed into all of the darker aspects of their desires and kinks that were shown throughout the book.
And when I say kinks, I mean KINKS. So much variety between the group, most of the time on the darker side of things, and to the extreme for some. I liked seeing some less common ones that normally don't get addressed in books or in conversation and it was interesting to see Skyla's human side vs her fae side push and pull at each other when she was experiencing these activities with her men. The fight between what felt right and wrong based on what her fae side told her was ok and how her human side went off of standard society dos and don'ts. I liked seeing that conflict with Skyla as she adjusted to her fae side coming out. It made it even better once she was able to get her fae side to flourish and finally made her transition.
The best way I can describe this is as a PNR MC romance with all the spice. Skyla lives in No Man’s Land. Here in No Man’s Land is where it is neutral. Skyla has lived here all of her life. Never choosing a side because that would only bring trouble. When trouble comes knocking at her place of employment and she is given up as collateral for the biggest shipment that has gone missing to one of the MCs her secret is gotten out and that is the worst possible thing that could have happened to her…right before her birthday.
The guys who have always watched her while she was dancing and always have wanted her are the only ones who can protect her…and they are more then willing.
This is a PNR RH MC romance. You have magic, fae, waring MCs and a lot of great spice! This is a shared would that can be read as a standalone and as I haven’t rea the rest of this world I now am going to go grab the rest of them and start immediately. I loved each of the 5 MMCs and would have a hard time choosing any of them if I were Skyla. Silver, Grave, Delta, Wraith, and Comet all have different tastes in the experiences they wanted from their alone time with Skyla and I lived for it all. This is totally a book I will be adding to my physical library!
Another great book in the Ladies of the MC series. Each author brings a different set of supernaturals to their story. All the while sticking to the MC theme. Man do I love MC stories. Skyla is a dancer. She lives in No Mans Land. This a a neutral space between the two MC Clubs. You have The Blazing Legion made up of Warlocks. Then you have the Iron Shadows made up of shadow Fae. The top five men in the MC of the Iron Shadows all want Skyla but they can’t have her yet. Skylas day turns to shit when she is held as collateral for a lost shipment. Her secret about what she really is has been outed. Now the Blazing Legion wants her for themselves. Sliver the leader of the Iron Shadows won’t be having that. Skyla belongs to them. She just doesn’t know it yet. Sliver helps her escape by claiming her has his. Living with the men who have wanted you for three years was going to be a wild ride. They tell her who she is to them. She was ment for them. Now Skyla gets a chance to be with all of them. They still have to prepare for a war from the Blazing Legion. They want Skyla and will stop at nothing to get her.
I swear, Devyn writes it; I'll read it. This book is no different. I was so excited that Devyn was writing as a part of the Ladies of the MC connected series. This book was all of my favorite things wrapped in one, Fae MC, Mage MC, paranormal (obvs), organized crime, and so much more. Skyla is an amazing FMC, and the guys she's with match her perfectly; she's a great mix of dark and light and is a caring person. She also loves to dance, *fun dances*, but she will get rid of people if it's for the right reason.
I loved this side of the 'connected world', the Iron Shadows are a Fae MC, just like most MCs, they're not 'good' but they have honor and standards. Silver, Delta, Comet, Wraith & Grave are all high-ranking members, with Silver being the leader. They're crazy for their girl and help her overcome what she is dealing with when she meets them. Trying not to spoil it all ;).
Between the fun times, and the action, Skyla learns about herself and trusts the guys. It was an amazing book, I am kind of hoping that we see another book or two from Devyn within this world? Or maybe an off part of it with all the other places mentioned.
Tropes - Paranormal MC - Secret identity - Touch her and die - Why choose - Med/fast burn
Skyla lives and works in no man’s land, a neutral haven for supernaturals, as a stripper at The Crimson Petal Strip Club - slap bang in the middle of two rival MCs The Blazing Legion, made up of Warlocks and The Iron Shadows made up of Dark Fae. When Skyla’s life time secret is revealed she is whisked away by the later MC. Silver, Delta, Comet, Grave and Wraith are the ultimate group of guys with their own tastes….safe to say the heat is quickly turned up to maximum and the kinky shenanigans begin.
When I say this was a panty melter of a read - especially Daddy Wraith! I felt like it was even steamier than Devyn’s usual writing (lucky us!) and also the plot was slightly darker. This makes sense given it is a shared world and Devyn did amazing at keeping in style with the world.
I loved the bratty and fun Skyla. Her journey of trying to understand herself and grappling with society expectations resonates with a lot of women.
This gripping reverse harem paranormal MC romance packs definitely packs a punch! The action is intense, the steam is *chefs kiss*, and the characters are wonderful. Skyla is struggling to survive in No Man’s Land, a place caught in the crosshairs of two rival MC’s. When Skyla finds herself in trouble and left with no other option, she turns to the dangerous Iron Shadows MC for help. Silver, Wraith, Comet, Grave and Delta are dangerous and powerful. There is a connection between Skyla and the five men. It doesn’t take very long for the men to pursue their lust and desire for Skyla. They’re caught in a war and must protect her at all costs, but in the midst of chaos, they form an unbreakable bond.
This book had such a great plot, storyline, and wonderful characters. I was totally engaged from the beginning and devoured every chapter in one sitting. The author did a fabulous job tying in so many tropes. This book is also high steam with lots of toe curling moments. *wink*
This was definitely different than what I initially have anticipated. As I am familiar with the author's other work, I did expect interesting characters and that they were. The first few chapters drew me in instantly and I was so curious with the hybrid- fae element here. The Shadows are alluring, dangerous and quite frankly rather unhinged - all wonderful qualities for possessive MMCs.
Despite having the backbones of a rather powerful story, this sadly did not work for me. Once the FMC was under the protection of the Shadows, things took quite the turn. I did read the TWs prior to proceeding towards the story, but there were just things I did not enjoy here and frankly, I think the issue for me was that the plot was slightly pushed to the side as the characters explored more of their personal desires for each other. Some of the elements here are definitely pushing boundaries and I did find myself skipping some of the scenes. I will refrain from saying more as I do not wish to spoil the story for other readers, but please be advised that this is pretty dark. Unfortunately, this has been my least favourite book in the Ladies of the MC universe.
I went into this book almost completely blind. Just read the blurb and in I went. And I couldn’t stop! This story hooked me right from the beginning.
Skyla is a dancer in No Man’s Land, denying her attraction to the Iron Shadows, a group of five delicious fae who have wanted her since they laid eyes on her. Although, the Blazing Legion, warlocks and total pricks, seems to feel Skyla is theirs. An unfortunate event lands Skyla in Shadow territory, and once the shadows claim you….there’s no going back. Preparing for war while also getting the attention of five hot bikers, each with their own personal kink? Silver, Comet, Wraith, Delta, Grave. HAVE MERCY.
Secrets, betrayal, surrender and submission, passion…this book has everything. Reverse harem romance with a dash of otherworldly magic.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“The moon that lives in my soul.” Poetic AF.
HEA for those like me that need to know! Also check out the author’s other works! She’s got a gift 🩵
I was hesitant about doing this review because I did not like the genres or kinks depicted in it. This is also an MC book, and sometimes MC books rub me the wrong way. But I looked at some of my books that I have read, liked, and would read again and realized that it is not the "dark romance" aspect of this book that I dont like, it's this book specifically. I came close to a DNF with this one - 10% into the book and I was already considering not finishing it - but unfortunately, I'm stubborn. All that to say, look up the content warning folks.
I really enjoyed a book I read very recently by the same author, called Just Drive, but the writing style in this one kept throwing me off. I acknowledge this is one of her older works, and she has improved since then. It wasn't just the writing style that was off in this one. I don't have a favorite MMC because i don't like any of the MMCs 🙃. The MMCs did not do a good job of explaining to the FMC the changes that were coming or the new world that she was now a part of. The book also featured FMCs body betrayal syndrome (BBS), and BBS generally irritates me. I would not read again, but others might enjoy!
