I’m a killer. He’s a bounty hunter. A match made in Hell. Literally. Waking up at the foot of your own grave is no picnic… especially when you can’t remember how you got there. A year ago, I was a college senior still living with my parents. Now? I’m the boogeyman of Ascension, TN, snapping up rogues and draining them dry. That is until I’m ensnared by a mysterious bounty hunter whose blood and body I crave. We’ll likely kill each other once it’s all said and done, but until then, he’s bound to keep me on the straight and narrow. Unless I can convince him to follow me to the dark side. What? We have cookies over here.
The Soul Reader complete series includes Night Watch, Death Watch, and Grave Watch. If you enjoy slow burn, enemies-to-lovers vampire romance, this is the series for you.
Annie Anderson is the author of the international bestselling Rogue Ethereal series. A United States Air Force veteran, Annie pens fast-paced Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy novels filled with strong, snarky heroines and a boatload of magic. When she takes a break from writing, she can be found binge-watching The Magicians, flirting with her husband, wrangling children, or bribing her cantankerous dogs to go on a walk.
Arcane Souls World is an excellent series. I was a wee bit tired of the internal monologue which normally never bothers me in books.
I like the insight. But it became extremely repetitive. I like to see a strong MC coming into their own and excepting both strengths and weaknesses over the course of a series. I love snark but Sloane obsessively babbles in her head and it borders on almost being neurotic with the same nagging fears repeated in all three books. If this were a longer series three books in wouldn’t be an issue but it continued to the end. I get her world changes fast in totally unexpected ways and it’s a stream of constant gut wrenching turns from each moment to the next. But I’d hoped to see the nagging fears be overcome and the snark turn into solid confidence in herself, her team and chosen family.
Although things tie up wonderfully in a happy ending which was heart warming and Sloane becomes more than she ever dreamed. I felt a few things deserved a bit more closer. Overall I fully intend to continue exploring the world in the companion series’s so none of my criticisms are in any way a deterrent just a personal preference/observation. The series is excellent and I have no issues with damaged heroines. They are actually my favorite kind so please don’t think I didn’t love the books. And I do highly recommend the series. I am reviewing the finished audio package so listening all the way through back to back may be the actual issue, had I listened independently I might not have noticed the repetition as much. However, even with all that said it’s a great storyline with wonderful characters Bastian is definitely a keeper and he is the perfect love for Sloane. Definitely give the series a try I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
I liked these books, I truly did. But they are hard to follow. I don’t mind crossover stories as long as they make sense. But having Sloane and Darby both in the same narrative in different books was too much. I had to read the books simultaneously and skip all the duplicate dialogue to get the full story and it wasn’t easy without physical copies of the books. It really felt like a cheat to have so much duplicated in two separate series. I would much prefer a blended version that would have both main characters doing every other chapter. I don’t care for this format at all, but I already know she uses it in other books.
I give the series overall. 4⭐️. I feel like the story and characters could have been fleshed out more, and maybe that's why I enjoyed the Grave Talker series more. 7 books in that one vs. 3 in this series.
I also wish I had seen the author's recommended reading order before reading both series because there is overlap between the Grave Talker series and this one, and spoilers are mentioned if you don't read in the right order.
However, I really enjoyed this series, and the characters. I would love to see more from them in the future!
i devoured this series as it came out and now i have access to this beautiful series all in one! Love everything about it! Sloan and Bastien are #coupleGoals
Sloan is hilarious and this has the perfect sass, chemistry and squad goals you could only wish for!
I thoroughly enjoyed this complete series of three books. The characters were interesting and the mixture of mythology was a great addition to the storyline.
Annie absolutely rips your heart out and then mends it back together again with this trilogy. The entire Arcane souls series is amazing but Sloan and Bastian just are swoon worthy!! To overcome so much and find a love like that, ugh it’s the perfect love story!! Cassandra does a phenomenal job with the narration of these and the Grave talker series and I highly recommend doing a tandem listen in the recommended order by Annie!! Please if you love sassy, snarky heroines who will risk it all for their found family pick up this book/audiobook!!
