Trusting Her Hero

Rate this book
Dixie Young needs a husband. Her ranch is failing and the only hope for her family is to find a partner. Her mother wants her to fall in love and marry a man to help, but Dixie is more realistic. And she’s on the rebound. After a nasty breakup, she finds out she’s pregnant and having a child out of wedlock will not work for her mother.

Junior Shipley has lost at love. Recently. In fact, he’s on the rebound when he finds out about Dixie’s need to get married. He has no grand illusions of marrying the girl of his dreams. He’s well beyond that place now. But he’s willing to settle for comfort and a decent business arrangement.

Two broken hearts coming together for reasons other than love. This has failure written all over it. But it has to work. She needs help for her ranch and a father for her child. He needs a purpose in life. An arranged marriage of convenience seems to be the ticket.

The problem is that Dixie hasn’t mentioned the baby to her husband-to-be. She can’t bring herself to do it. She’s afraid he’ll walk away. But there’s no guarantee he’ll stay once he finds out – even after they’re married.

Junior and Dixie’s story is sweet, angsty marriage of convenience romance. Having both recently suffered major disappointment and rejection in romantic relationships, Dixie and Junior agree to an arranged marriage. Ostensibly, the marriage will save her family’s ranch and give him half ownership. It will also give him a chance to get away from his own family’s ranch which has become untenable since his brother became engaged to the woman Junior had been dating and had wanted for himself. Junior suspects that Dixie has another hidden reason for wanting to marry quickly, but he believes that their marriage could benefit them both and perhaps turn into something more than a convenience. He already feels drawn toward her, not just attraction but something deeper, and he hopes the she will soon feel it too. There are those that try to dissuade them and warn them about this marriage, but they marry anyway. Dixie’s secret reason for quick wedding is soon revealed, and Junior surprises her by telling her that he will stay in the marriage and by her side. Dixie is afraid to trust her heart again, but Junior continually shows her that he is a kind, compassionate and hardworking man who is loyal to and unconditionally supportive of those he cares about. Their story has a few more emotional bumps and gulleys ahead as well as few more nasty encounters with people determined to hurt or derail them. Love blossoms between them and both decide that they are willing to fight for a future together.

What a wonderful story as Junior and Dixie who were ntroduced in the last book get a story of their own. These stories involve the next generation from the Billionaire Ranchers Series. To get the most out of this story you should probably read the previous book to understand what causes Junior to decide to marry Dixie.

Dixie is in a tough spot and really needs the right someone to come and help her. Junior steps up and even though he's still hurting from being rejected by the girl who chose his brother, he determines to make a serious commitment. I really enjoyed seeing the way he changed and grew in this story.

Dixie will need to learn to trust Junior and let some walls down that she built due to the way the last guy treated her. In the beginning of this story, she was just a shadow of the vibrant girl that Junior knew from the past. His determination to stay married despite the unknown details of Dixie's past relationship helps her feelings grow toward her husband.

I really enjoyed this story and loved the ending.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior ones to fully understand and enjoy this one. On that note, I would recommend to reading the prior one, "Taking His Chance". Some of the events in that book are discussed here and it may help the reader to better understand some issues.

This is written in a dual POV format. Boy that was really needed here. There were times when I just wanted to slap Dixie. She is such a headstrong protagonist. There were times when I really felt for Junior. Which is funny after reading "Taking His Chance"! Yep I will admit to falling for the cowboy!

Dixie is pregnant. She and her family are on the verge of losing their ranch. They need help. Junior and Dixie marry but their relationship is so strained with pressures from secrets that Dixie is keeping. Can they unravel the strings that are twisting them up or will it all come crashing down in a pile of rubble?

This book in a sweet, clean romance that anyone will enjoy.

Book six in the Billionaire Ranchers Second Generation Series with this being Junior and Dixie's story. Junior turned out to be the man Dixie needed in more ways than she ever knew. Dixie found herself in trouble turning to the Shipley brothers for help. Junior agreed to marry her to save the family ranch fully realizing there was more to the story, but he knew Dixie would tell him in do time. He was in the relationship for the long haul. They soon learned they had an attraction for one another, but something from her past was preventing her from becoming intimate. Junior was an amazing, patient man trying to give Dixie the space she needed to come to terms with her situation. Dixie was extremely stressed from her family financial problems and other problems she found herself in that she was not sure what to do. A wonderful heartwarming story you will not want to miss.

April Murdock writes a fluent narrative which, although part of a series that I had not read previously, was easy to get into as past events were alluded to as they became relevant to the current story.
The book begins with Dixie having approached the Shipley family, living on the neighbouring ranch, for assistance in an effort to save her family’s smaller ranch. Junior goes above and beyond her expectations, but Dixie withholds information she feels unable to share with anyone.
Dixie and Junior have to overcome serious obstacles, primarily Dixie’s secrets and the mixed feelings they have for one another, on their journey to future happiness. The judgement of family members and gossip of some town residents ensure that the reader stays fully engaged in finding out if they will find their HEA.

Trusting Her Hero is a warm loving romance. The main characters have a true connection. April Murdoch is a wonderful writer.

Dixie Young gets herself in a predicament. She turns to her former boyfriend's twin brother, Junior Shipley, for help. Although they keep their distance growing up, Dixie is surprised at the connection they share.

Because of what a slimy snake did to her and her family’s financial difficulties Dixie is forced to find a husband. On the rebound from being hurt by the girl he was infatuated with falling for his twin brother, Junior agrees to marry Dixie. But he knew something wasn’t right with her besides her family’s troubles and should have asked more questions before the wedding. Dixie has a lot of haters including her ex, but she shouldn’t have kept things from Junior. Their marriage is built on lies and incredibly shaky. It added to the drama of the story.

Clean romance. Part of a series, but reads as a stand alone. Dixie’s family farm needs help so she approaches a friend to help her out through marriage. Because she is pregnant by someone else, she has to get married quickly.

Interesting storyline with one family helping another. Throw in a sketchy ex-boyfriend and you have a very interesting story with great characters.

Good romance with interesting characters. Dixie and Junior agree to a quick marriage to save her family’s ranch. Unfortunately she neglected to tell Junior she was pregnant. They both have a lot to overcome and falling in love just seems to complicate things. The story held my interest and drew me in to find how things ended.

Dixie was definitely trying to help her family and get a solution for her situation but she didn't know how to go about it. The struggles of her and Junior seemed so real. I liked how they fought through the struggle and managed to get it all sorted out and happy in the end. This was a great story with a lot of depth to the characters.

Junior is a saint for helping out Dixie even though he knows she’s not being truthful. I wasn’t sure I liked Dixie at first because of her conniving but once I understood her rationale her character improved and I really liked both the main characters and their romance.

Trysting Her Hero

A wonderful addition to the Billionaire Ranchers Second Generation series. Dixie is needing to find a husband for more than one reason but she has suffered through a bad breakup recently. Junior is suffering through losing the woman he loved to his brother. Will a marriage of convenience work for these two even with the complications it brings?

Well, earnestly I am not quite sure what to say about this story. It felt like it was on a repeat loupe over and over again. As such it is not badly written, just drawn out endlessly. So I can not be honest with my review if I do not stick to my guns, so I can not give it more than fine three stars.

Trusting Her Hero is a clean, heartwarming, friends to lovers, arranged marriage romance. I wish Dixie had told Junior about the baby before she married him, but I love their story. There were a lot of hurdles in their path to an HEA. This book held my interest from the beginning. I read it in one day.

I really felt for her with all the stress she was under. Some out there by herself, some by her mom and others just naturally. I didn’t like how she handled things but loved how he did. A different take on marriage and family but can it work out?.

This has been a fun series. Dixie has been involved with the Shipley family for years, unfortunately with the wrong twin. Junior is the type of man we would all love to find. As with all of April Murdock’s books we were treated to romance, humor, family issues and a few surprises. I look forward to her next book.

Trusting Her Hero

I don’t like stories based on lies and deceit. I thought the story was very depressing. I had a hard time finishing the book.
