A solid Mehhh for me

This is more a stranger danger book than zombie survival.

Sadie keeps saving the day because for some inane reason she's the only one with sense (common) when it comes to zombies.

This was a fluff piece, I didn't find myself caring who would live or die. Let's be honest here, most of these characters won't make it long. There is a massive hoard and they are all sticking to urban areas, relying on food from stores...... Need I say more.... Talk about fast food for zombies.

Solid Zombie Apocalypse Story!

**SPOILERS**

Sadie is just surviving. Once a grunt worker at a marketing company she is now a survivor of a zombie apocalypse. Sadie is intelligent, quick-thinking and stealthy. She has survived on her own for a while. She finds a defensible house and goes to a grocery store for a supply run. There she sees Zombies attacking two guys. She makes a split decision and saves them. They tell her they need to get back to their base, an abandoned elementary school. Sadie says she’ll take them but then she’s going back out on her own, she doesn’t like people. When they reach the school it’s being overtaken by zombies. Sadie creates a distraction and saves the day.

When Sadie eventually enters the school she’s confronted by Frank, the defacto leader of the school group. He blames the guys she saved for leading the zombies to the school but Sadie quickly sets the record straight. She also encounters her a-hole father, who abandoned her, and his own sick mother. He also left his wife to shack up with his mistress who he saved instead of his actual family. Sadie is NOT happy to see the loser worst father of the year.

Sadie stays for a bit. And when it’s apparent that zombies are attacking again she comes up with a plan to save the school-again. Frank is gruff, somewhat of an a-hole, but not totally a bad guy, but he’s definitely out of his element. He knows nothing about the zombies (he had been holed up in the school as opposed to Sadie, who has lived amongst the zombies and understands their patterns) and he just doesn’t know what to do, not really.

Sadie goes on the “rescue the school” mission. But gets caught by an ex member of the school settlement with a grudge against her and Frank. She has to fight her way to freedom. Eventually she gets free, but not after being wounded. She’s found by Miguel, a school friend of hers from back in the day that she once had a crush on. He’s married but was getting a divorce when the zombie apocalypse happened. Unfortunately his awful cheating ex doesn’t get the “we’re no longer together,” memo and wants to cling to him like a bad barnacle. The book ends with Sadie found, and recuperating at the school.

**THOUGHTS/OPINIONS**

This was a solid zombie apocalypse novel! It was action packed and easy to read. There was plenty of gore, survival skills and Sadie is a kick ass character. It’s a little..you have to suspend your sense of belief…to imagine a grunt worker at a marketing firm being able to survive the apocalypse as well as she has, but she is still an awesome character. As long as you don’t wonder how, and when, she learned strategy, stealth, knife and hatchet abilities, lol. The book was VERY fast paced, a bit short, so I’m glad that there is a sequel. It has the possibility of “romance” but 0 steam. This is definitely an action zombie apocalypse novel. But post apocalyptic novels (especially RH) are a guilty pleasure of mine. And this book had plenty of detail, and fine storytelling. It won’t disappoint fans of this genre.

Another good foray into the PA

Book #2 by this author and I enjoyed it as much as the first. I gotta say some of the grammatical errors really jump out at you, like since instead of sense, their instead of there, plus some missing words. A good aplha/beta/ARC reader would see these quickly and point them out, or even an editor.

The story is engaging, the characters are mostly 1-2ish dimensionally but our main character Sadie is very well fleshed out and enjoyable. I love her use of "super spy sneaky-sneak" during her inner dialogs and I just wish we got to see a bit more of the other characters and their interactions with Sadie and what happens after she heals up. Seems like we were just getting to a good place with them all and BAM, end of story. Does that mean another book is coming? I sure hope so!

This was an amazing book!

This was a really good book. I enjoyed the main character completely. She was smart and thought out all her actions, always doing her best to make reasonable decisions. She is funny and clever, while also not infallible. She's not perfect and is just perfectly relatable.

We don't get to know the men as well yet but I truly enjoyed that too. I like establishing the FMC first and starting to know the other characters before introducing any romantic notions.

This was an action packed read that keeps the reader engaged all the way through.
I am eagerly waiting for the next one!

Spice is very low, slow burn, feels like it will be a rh in future books, few triggers: kidnapping, zombies and gore that goes with them, injuries to MFC, traumatic situations.

I don’t understand what I just read. It starts off interesting and I got into it. But it’s only 175 pages and it ends SO abruptly. I still am unsure if this is a stand alone or not? There’s nothing concrete to indicate one way or another.

The MFC is fun and interesting. I like her. I might even grow to like some of the other characters but she hardly interacts with anyone.

Again, not sure if this is a 0.5 novella situation for a longer series or what. If that’s the case then I’d give it a 3.5. But without knowing if there is going to be more story to this story I’m dropping it down to a 2.

Also it needs an editor. There are blatant typos. Is clear the the author didn’t even bother re-reading through their own work once just to proofread it.

A good, quick read

This book was an interesting read. The main character was likeable, the story was enough to maintain attention throughout the whole thing and the rest of the characters all had different personalities. I'm hoping for a sequel now because I have fallen in love with the main character and hope to see her again one day.
As a zombie fanatic there's not many books or many ways that break the mold so to speak. And while this was a simple story it was well told. I would recommend any fan of the zombie or horror genre to take the time to read this book and give this a 5/5 stars.

great characters; good plot

Desperately needs editing, but the plot and characters are good. The lead character has a good sense of humor, offering some laughs for the reader. The characters are fairly well developed, although not all very believable. A couple of the men come across as wimps which leaves something to be desired. There are a large number of places where words are misspelled. Looks like the author used spell check which didn’t catch these errors because they are often correctly spelled words but aren’t the correct word for the sentence they’re in. They interfere with smooth reading.

Not too bad for a novel

3⭐️
I was entertained reading this book. By the end I was getting a little bored of the same old same old but I guess when you reading a zombie novel this is about to happen.

I really liked the FMC for sure but she talks too much sometimes.

This book is not a romance but it didn’t bother me at all.

Lastly, it does need some editing. Some of the grammatical mistakes can be distracting and the time line it need some adjustment so it makes more sense.

very entertaining read

The pace was good, kept me wanting to learn more, heroine is very likable and relatable. There does need to be quite a bit of clean up with misspelled and wrong words used, but would be a simple fix. Very much recommend

Awesome

This was a pretty good apocalyptic read. I highly enjoyed Sadie's character and how she was surviving alone like she was. I'm sad the book ended lol I wasn't more
