Although I haven't read Books 1-3 in this series, Between Two Dreams read beautifully. I was hooked on the characters and spent much time reminiscing, as I grew up in the 1950s. I particularly enjoyed the detailed fashion descriptions, laughingly remembering the covered buttons and fabrics. Harriett was definitely not the norm, as women were not usually in the workforce and certainly not in positions of power. I had to admire each character's ways and how they interacted. S. Lee Fisher can certainly weave a wonderful story. Her characters remind me of people I used to know. How enchanting! It will be exciting to now read Books 1-3 and hopefully more.
A bittersweet ending to this incredible family saga Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on January 24, 2023 I'm sad that this is the end of this enthralling Westchester saga. This final book is packed with more drama about Olive's dysfunctional family relationships and continues with the ongoing themes of estrangement and unforgiveness. It's a tearjerker from start to finish and the ending is bittersweet. The author does an amazing job of character development and differentiation. The unique personalities of each individual and their internal and external conflicts are portrayed clearly. Although the book spans several decades, the historical settings and eras are well-researched and wonderfully described.
Reading this series gave me much new insight to love during war. These women were all full of love and strength to no end. They loved, forgave and then lived even more. This last story moved quickly through war and hard times. With the finality of life came many explanations of how others fared alone at times. Harriet Bailey Kepler was an extraordinary, educated woman that certainly forgave many escapades of her self loving husband Eddy. Ending in her tragic quick death the demise of many decades of family now buried I highly recommend this series
Books 1, 2, 3 were page turners. Great strong characters. Excellent dialog. Loved the history of Pennsylvania and USA FROM 1900’s to 2010. I loved the beautiful descriptions of time, place, clothing worn, food eaten. I felt the last book rushed to tie up the ends. I did not feel I knew the new characters well. I love historical fiction. I’d never read a book of this time and place so I thoroughly enjoyed these books
I have really enjoyed this series and moving through the generations of the Women of Campbell County. This might have been my favorite of all the books. I loved the character development. I started to “sort of” like Olive again and I really liked the addition of Shelby. It was very heartwarming overall and a year or two was shed!
I’m a little sad that the Women of Campbell County have taken their bow!!! I really enjoy these characters and their story. I feel like I know them. I have cheered for the Keplers to love well. If you love a good read and a closing of a series, this is a great series to dive into with this conclusion.
