When reading Torment: Descension, the artwork was one of the first things that stood out to me. It immediately reminded me of the gritty, atmospheric graphic novels of the 1980s — the kind of storytelling associated with creators like Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. But the emotional weight of the story takes it even further.

At its core is a father confronted with an impossible choice, forced into a horrific sacrifice to protect the people he loves most. The tension becomes almost palpable as each decision spirals the situation further out of control, leaving the reader constantly wondering how he could possibly find redemption. Then another unexpected turn surprises even the story’s near-omniscient antagonist, transforming the experience into something that feels like Unbreakable meets Prophecy. And just when the story allows a brief sense of comfort, the plot delivers one final twist that lands with devastating emotional force.

This story stayed with me long after I finished it — and now I’m left asking: when is the sequel coming out?

This was a very enjoyable book. I loved the clash between good and evil in this book. Surprise ending too!
