A comprehensive reference book covering all aspects of cat health and cat care. The signs and symptoms index, detailed table of contents, and general index are all useful in quickly finding the information you need either in an emergency or as a basic inquiry. A practical and valuable resource for every cat parent to have on hand.

This book was recommended to me by a wonderful vet. I buy it every time it's updated. Cats compensate so much when they are sick that they can be at death's door before you know they are sick...even if you take your cat to the vet regularly. This book allows you to recognize symptoms early, know how the ailment is treated, and how to give emergency care to cats who are hurt.

This book should be read and kept handy in the home of any cat owner. I don't recommend trying to fully diagnose and treat your cat on your own; however, the information provided can let you know the basics of cat care and when you should take your cat to be treated by a veterinarian.

I have read a lot of veterinary books for cat owners, but this one stands out. It provides practical information on handling many of Puff's health problems right at home. Most cat owners' veterinary books advise you to get Puff to the vet for pretty much every symptom more serious than a sneeze. If Puff isn't covered on your employer's health plan, this is going to get expensive. I was recently able to clear up a neighborhood stray's eye infection by following the guidelines in this book.

Very informative. I've consulted this book often when my cats have been sick to decide whether to take them to the vet and it is more often than not right.

Admittedly did not read cover-to-cover, but this is a great handbook to keep an eye on your cat's health! Quick and easy to reference, and just enough detail about what some symptoms might indicate without getting too deep in jargon. Of course, always call your vet if something seems off!

I have the 1995 edition, which is now out of date. Still, in the last 10 years this was a good companion when I had to write articles about cat health for various websites. Most of those sites are gone now (such is the web where dog years are ancient in comparison) and sadly our last cat has now gone at the age of 19 but this book somehow still remains on the home shelves.

You do not have to read it from Page 1 in order to find specific information about cat health (such as cat constipation, for example.) The index is not only thorough, but the table of contents is quite detailed.

comprehensive veterinary information for the layman cat lover

Knowledge is power to protect your cat's health as best as possible given that you are not a veterinarian. Even as a veterinarian such as I, the book is a great reference for communication with the concerned cat owner.

Reference book for us aboard Moken as Nukaat will be far from veterinary care for long periods and we don't speak cat. At least not much.

This was the last thing I bought before moving onto a sailboat with my husband and cat. I wouldn't have been able to do it without this book. It's wonderful!!!
