One star because about 25% of Deedat's work ,from what I have read so far, is quality, thought-provoking, arguments (these books are written mainly to show that Islam is more true than Christianity, not just to teach about Islam. Look elsewhere if you're just trying to learn about Islam). The 25% of acceptable scholarship is decently articulated and I learned new things. The other 75% is riddled with logical fallacies especially strawman arguments, and is very weak scholarship, with lots of poor exegesis of texts. For someone who made a career out of writing books to disprove the Christian perspective, he did not put much effort into understanding that perspective. However I do respect his right to share his experiences of conversations he'd had with Christians who were unable to explain or defend their beliefs and made a fool of themselves in front of Deedat. I'm embarrassed on their behalf and motivated to know my stuff more thoroughly.
