More than two hundred photographs highlight an entertaining celebration of the ten years of the popular television series in this its final season, in an official guide that includes behind-the-scenes anecdotes of life on and off screen, interviews with the cast and crew, a look at guest appearances by such stars as Brad Pitt and Tom Selleck, episode summaries, and other features. "These six just worked. It's enourmously important. Each one of them individually could be fabulous, and you could still come up with crap as a group. Here it was magic. And thankfully, the magic just never really wore off." ~ Marta Kauffman
A beautiful coffee table book (not about coffee tables) which captures the beginning, growth and finish of the phenomenon that was the show. It's a burst of nostalgia as it recounts some of the best moments of the show, interviews with the cast and crew and beautifully shot pictures in high quality glossy paper. It talks a lot about the cultural impact of the show on the psyche of the people, the way it was received, the highs and lows of the show and the actors, and the scene as it was set just before the last episode of the last season rolled out.
A must read and a collector's item for any fan of the series.
The exquisiteness of F.R.I.E.ND.S is that even after two decades, ten seasons and the end when I read “How you doin’?” in this book I actually heard it in Joey's voice. If I had to write on why this show is more than a situational comedy I could go on, most of us can identify with the characters and situation one time or the other. The book compiles everything like a guide to all episodes of all seasons, recalling events and experiences of the cast through their exit interviews. The pictures are an absolute delight. There is a reason why some shows turn out to be a phenomenon and this book sums it up well.
I was a big fan of Friends in the beginning, following the series through most of the 90s and really enjoying it. I went off it for a while, came back for the last couple and then got tired of the endless loop of episodes shown on E4. Cut to a few years later, my young son discovered the series on Comedy Central and I began watching again, having forgotten how wonderfully written - and played - the earlier series were. Whilst in that period of re-discovering it, I found this book. David Wild clearly has a connection with the cast and some of his comments and little in-jokes can get grating after a while but he lays the book out well, interviewing the stars, executive producers and Janice and Gunther, giving a quick rundown of key points in each season and an episode listing. Lavishly illustrated - and, apart from the last chapter (when it really needed it), well labelled - this contains pretty much all you could ever need to know and if it does get a bit gushy in places, it’s also nicely candid at times, especially talking about the backlash and Matthew Perry’s various addictions. If you’re a Friends fan, as I consider myself to be, I’d say this was very much an essential read and I’d recommend it.
What a great read! It was just wonderful and so well crafted! It was great to read the cast's thoughts on experiences in the show, thoughts on one another, and the backlash they faced.
Beautiful pictures too, and such touching captions. I welled up a few times inside. It was just amazing. I felt like I was sitting down at Central Perk and chatting with the cast, crew & author of the book.
Easily recommend this book to anyone who loves and still watches one of my favourite shows of all time, "F.R.I.E.N.D.S"
Friends was more than a tv-show, but what a tv-show it was.
I couldn't agree more! The show, the characters, the story-lines. Everything about it makes it an absolute classic and a piece of pop culture history. I loved reading the interviews, seeing the photo's and reading what guest stars had to say about their experience.
I know the acting world is a hard world. And almost everyone who has appeared in the show has said that. Yet, their experience on the set of Friends was different and I loved reading that. The show feels good when you watch it and knowing working on it was good, is even better.
I loved reading it, and it's a must-have for any Friends-Fan!
Perfect for any fan of Friends. This dives into small interviews with each cast member, including some extra fan favorite characters, and gives a background look into their thoughts. It also is filled with photos from the show, backgrounds on the seasons and even the creators open thoughts. It was a fun read after binging the whole series.
A must read book for any FRIENDS fan. Yes, the book is outdated and things have changed since this book was written yet the book leaves you with a immense feeling of nostalgia. A walk through the memory of lane of one of the best shows in TV history leaves you with a smile as well as tears in your eyes. As a Friends fan I m in love with the book.
PS - The large hardcover book is so Awesome. Its heavy (very) but its so pretty and bright.
Ive easily seen every episode a hundred times. I know all the trivia games and their answers. How could I not own this book. It's a wonderful tribute to one of the greatest television programs ever. Fact.
I loved this book, the pictures, quotes, behind the scenes information. The genuine friendship the cast, writers, directors shared is obviously what made it work and still enjoyable to this day...what I didn't like which is why it doesn't get 5 stars is that the author David Wild seems obsessed with the contract/pay negotiation which after every interview I thought it's been said now, move on. Also when referring to the female members of the cast when talking to the male members alot of "not too bad in the looks department/easy on the eye" comments from Wild just a bit unnescary and cringey. However the casts responses were respectable. One last thing with soooo many friends quotes to choose from it was disappointing to see some repetition of the ones chosen. But still a must read, dip in and out of friends book.
This beautiful coffee table book encapsulates the worldwide phenomenon known as "Friends." The book covers all ten seasons using photographs and interviews from the cast and creators. I love every season of the show, but season five is my favorite, especially the episode where Joey figures out that Monica and Chandler are dating.
Loved it ! Laughed and cried and overall nostalgic. I was more satisfied with the interview questions in the book than in the "Friends: The Reunion". The book revealed so many BTS moments and more interview questions that got more depth and emotions. Any fan would really enjoy the book, honestly.
"I will there for you "Her bir karakterin ,mutlu ya da mutsuz olduğumuz zamanda bize eşlik etmesiydi Friends">Bu kitapta bunu somutlaştırılmış hali ve bu etkiyi nasıl yaptıklarının kitaplastırılmış hali.Kitaplığımın en güzel köşesinde yer alacak.☘️✨
