I don't have a problem with non-consent stories. I was actually looking for one to read. The problem with this book is that it is so bad and badly written. All of the characters are cardboard cutouts. When they undergo character development, this is told to us, but not shown. The sex and BDSM scenes are incredibly unerotic. Basically, try Kitty Thomas or Remittance Girl if you want freaky non-consent, and try something like Demon's Captive or Maid for It or even Skye Warren if you want more conventional but well-written non-consent. Don't bother with this. And if you want to recommend your favourite non-consent books, please use the comments. Thanks!

This won't earn any rewards for writing mastery or anything like that.

This is a short book - a novella really - and honestly you wouldn't want it any longer. The Toy is a prime example of how unsexy Erotica can be, and for very good reason. In fact, I'm rather surprised this one was published, as I thought rape was a pretty firm no-go area for erotic fiction.
In this story, Gina is a young woman from a dull, conservative and religious family who volunteers at the Christian Outreach Center and is not long away from marrying her equally dull boyfriend Dwayne, mostly because they've been together so long and that's what's expected of her. On her way home one evening she is kidnapped from her bus stop by two men who keep her locked in a windowless, soundproof padded room for months while they "break her in". One, Gordon, is a misogynistic homosexual who is disgusted by women but toys with them anyway, and is brutal and cruel. His own personal boy-toy is Frank, a young, handsome man who is much kinder to Gina and teaches her the gentler side of sex, among other things.
Aside from completely changing Gina into someone who could never go back to her old life, there seems little point to this story and a whole lot of horribleness. There are a few erotic stories that I've read that I feel have left a taint behind in my mind, and this would be one of them. It's not safe, consensual sex, for a start. And there's nothing much else to the story but the gross interactions between the three characters. And, of course, Gina falls in love with Frank. I wasn't impressed.

This story wasn't good for me. Gordon, a homosexual "Dom" (in quotes because he's more of an abuser and less of a real Dom) and his sub Frank routinely kidnap, beat, and rape young women. We don't know what they do with the women once they lose interest, but I'm assuming they don't just return them to their old lives and wait for them to call the cops.
So these two snatch Gina, a naïve young virgin. They keep her chained up or locked in a room at all times. Gordon is disgusted by women and is only interested in inflicting pain on them. Frank is softer and more caring, but even as he gets closer to Gina, it's hard to forget that the two of them do this regularly. Frank starts to care for Gina, but he still lets Gordon rape her, which he does just to hurt her.

I was looking for a quick and dirty read, but got more plot than I was expecting.
A young woman is kidnapped by a (gay) sadist and his slightly more affectionate (bi-sexual) companion and told she is to be a sex toy for both of them. They take turns introducing her to pleasure and pain until they blend completely.
The ending, which I won't spoil, was a pleasant surprise.

Maybe I would have liked this book better if it had been marketed as a tale of psychological horror or a book to give to your daughter to insure that she never approaches a stranger's car, but it's not. It's marketed as erotica and it definitely is not. There's nothing erotic about this book. I wouldn't even call it dark erotica. It steps way beyond that line.
That being said, I started reading it and I couldn't put it down. It shocked me. It repulsed me. Still I couldn't stop reading. It read like an X-rated horror story. I didn't want to know what would happen next. I knew it was going to be something bad and still I had to keep reading.
It's a credit to the writer to be able to write a story that can do that. That's a very difficult thing to achieve.
I read this book over a year ago and still, I can't stop thinking about it. Like some of the horror movies I watched as a teenager or some of the horror books I've read the images have just stuck with me.
Be warned, if you like and can handle a good tale of horror, this book is most likely for you, but if you're looking for erotica, romance, or a satisfying HEA you won't find any of that here.

This is another brilliant book from Claire and it was the best of two worlds because Gordon is a sexy sick sadistic man who gets of on beating and raping slaves and we have the sexy Frank who shows Gina the loving bliss taste of sexual pain/pleasure as where Gordon just gives her pain Pain PAIN...!!
I really enjoyed this because it fit right into a challenge I was doing but because not only was it non-con but it had everything in it...

I liked the beginning alot. By the middle I was having trouble because it was so many intense scenes one right after the other with no break to let me adjust to what had just happened.

My libido was mourning heavily after reading this book. I curse my wayward curiosity for picking this up. I didn't go near my vags for a day after I read this sorry excuse of an erotic book.

This is a quick, yet powerful, story of change. Our heroine has to re-think and re-arrange all her knowledge and thoughts to survive her captivity. While she is doing this, it awakens part of her she never knew could exist. If given a choice, what will she choose?

This was my very first experience of reading any of Ms Thompson's work.
At first, I didn’t know how to react – whether to be appalled or fascinated. But regardless of my thoughts, I kept reading, unable to stop. It was a brutal, yet intriguing tale and I was genuinely surprised with the ending. Suffice to say, I have since gone on to read many more of this writer’s stories.

short story, i really couldn't connect with the characters in this story. Gina was very immature and not entirely believable. Frank wasn't either. How do you fall in love with somebody when you don't talk to them. it was all about the sex, and for somebody who is kidnapped, abused, and terrorized the way Gina was, when she is let go, she most certainly isn't going to go running off to reunite with 1 of her abusers even if he was the gentler one.

This is a very intense, super hot story. I did not like Gordon at all but he was a part of what changed Gina. It was interesting going through the emotions and thoughts as Gina progressed from total victim to somewhat willing victim. I liked the ending.

Gina is innocent when kidnaped and trained as a sex toy for 2 men. We see her transition and evolve with the experiences forced upon her, until when she is freed she is torn about the path forward. A short story. It was a bit like Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas, but not as well done. I didn't get the connection to the characters as I did in the other tale. Still an okay story, but nothing spectacular.

This only got two stars because while the plot is horribly disturbing the writing isn't bad. I'm not impressed with the victim falling for the rapist and I just dont get the appeal of rape especially to this level.
