An innocent virgin enters a brothel to escape starvation and receives expert tutelage in the steamy Victorian parlor games that rakish gentlemen indulge in. . . .
Leda Swann is the writing duet of Cathy and Brent. We write out of our home overlooking the sea in peaceful New Zealand. When not writing we have busy lives bringing up four children and enjoying an adventurous outdoor life that ranges from the mountains to the sea.
We often get asked how our name Leda Swann came about. When we decided to write an erotic romance together we wanted a sexy name. We discussed how the Greek gods made for themselves a pretty good time of things, so a name from Greek mythology would be good. In any case, the word erotic comes from the Greek 'erotikos' and 'eros', meaning sexual love. We just needed to find a name that was more or less easily pronounceable. The tale of Leda and the Swan came to mind, and so Leda Swann was born.
Parlor Games is an erotic novella. Very descriptive, very bold, and very crass. It’s a gratuitous romp of a story in a den of iniquity. No glittering Ballrooms or fancy townhouses here.
I wish that writers would be more imaginative with the Heroine’s names in this genre. Sarah is so overused, overwritten, and overly mundane. There must be hundreds of historical stories with this boring name as the Heroine. Argh.
A destitute and innocent virgin, Sarah Chesham, enters a brothel to escape starvation. The seedy establishment entertains rakish gentlemen, offering steamy Victorian parlor games.
Interestingly, I found the brief Author description at the end of the book more intriguing than their short story. Leda Swann is a pseudonym for a writing team. One female, one male. Both have settled by the beach together in a small coastal community in NZ, where they plan to live happily ever after. Like I said, intriguing.
The authors did well to write the story they did…it’s just not my cup of tea. This novella originally appeared in the collection, Parlor Games:
Fallen Angel by Jess Michaels: 3- stars Parlor Games by Leda Swann: 2 stars Border Lord by Julia Templeton: dnf
Great premises.... not executed very well. Shame... I had such high hopes for the Highlander one. First story was down right boring... Second one had a brothel and a mystery... which this reader figured out quickly.. darn... Third was time travel and it just had some large holes and misguided theories.
it is short, with no character development and plenty of romping around in various position and location. What more can you ask?
Well, a lot more i guess.
I can give it a higher star if only there are something interesting in this book rather than just the sex. Otherwise, this book is just something to wedge the door or glass coaster after i finished reading it.
