Hand of Death: The Henry Lee Lucas Story

Rate this book
Hand of Death details the homicidal killing spree of a man named Henry Lee Lucas and his partner Ottis Toole. Henry claimed to be the slayer of over 600 victims. But not everything is what it seems and a strange aura of the incredibly bizarre kind surround this man and his partner. A nationwide satanic cult of death. Human sacrifices. A conspiracy. Necrophillia. Jim Jones. Henry Lee Lucas made wild claims along with Ottis Toole about these very subjects. Max Call gave Henry a chance to tell his story in Hand of The Henry Lee Lucas Story with the title Hand of Death referring to the alleged nationwide satanic cult that Lucas and Toole claimed to have been involved in.

This is absolutely the worst best book I’ve ever read. It’s absolutely hilarious. It’s clearly a fictitious telling of Henry Lee Lucas’s life.

This book asks questions and barely answers any of them. Suppose, i can postulate Henry had been born to a deranged prostitute woman who had nothing but used him, and supposed he had seen nothing but cruelty in this world - did this make him a serial killer? Or being inducted into Satanic cult made him a serial killer? If those statements are true, where are the others who engage in the same activities, or rather was Henry a programmed serial killer murderer?

Then this whole Jesus thing. Again, this raises doubts to me. There are many unanswered questions, but there is a possible answer that is lurking inside. There is a criminal cult that does train killers, does kidnap children to sacrifice, does engage in child and human sex trafficking, and often cooperates with the wealthiest and the most powerful of this world. And we LET THEM.

One of the strangest books I've ever read. Right from the first page it raises eyebrows by describing Henry Lee Lucas' birth as though it were a scene from a trashy novel, complete with ridiculous dialogue from the mouth of his allegedly hateful mother. That the author could have been privy to any of this information is, of course, impossible. The book then proceeds to detail Lucas' life, most notably his involvement with an international murder cult called Hand of Death. All of this information apparently came from Lucas himself and was divulged to the author via extensive prison interviews. Was he telling the truth to cleanse his conscience as a born-again Christian or was it just a petty way of delaying his execution? You be the judge, reader.
