Face to Face with Serial Killers: My Conversations with the World's Most Evil Men

Rate this book
It's common for killers to grab the front pages, with crimes so appalling that they exert a strange fascination on many people. But until this study, it has been rare to hear about what these people are like behind the headlines. Criminologist Christopher Berry-Dee goes behind bars to bring readers the last word from some of the worst criminals in the world. They speak of their violence and shocking deeds from within some of the hardest prisons on earth. These are the killers' stories, in their own words, providing an intimate look inside the people most readers encounter only in nightmares.

Mediocre at best. And someone should do a spell check/some proof reading.

Very little includes genuine conversations with people. A lot has to do with explaining what happened, but it's not entirely clear to which purpose this is done. It doesn't seem to be a book about the cases or a book about the people, but a weird mix.

At times, many gruesome details are shared, seemingly more for shock value than anything else, which was unsettling.

Misogynistic and exploitative. The tabloid style tone when discussing some of the child murders was so innapropriate and the constant ranking of the victim's looks bizarre. Couldn't finish it.

An interesting read with often a rather chilling telling of the deeds of these serial killers. Though somewhat too much listing up what happened instead of focusing on the actual conversations the author had with these people. Still a special look into the minds of these men (and woman).

This is one of the only books I've given up on, ever. I expected too much of it, and ended up putting it down after struggling through 120 pages hoping it'd get better. To me, it read just like a special on the ID crime channel: sensasionalist and incredibly subjective.

Venis kuodagi väga palju. Pole just minu lemmik. Vahepeal huvitusin karakteritest ja vahepeal oli neist täideti suva.
Lõpus üritas Agatha moodi asju välja tuua ja polnud väga huvitav

i still read these type of books as if they were fiction some times as I cannot get over how horrendous and sinister the crimes these people committed are. This book focuses on five serial killers and their crimes. Interesting read.

Not many actual conversations at all. More like wikipedia pages with a small bit of discussion about it thrown in.Still fairly interesting though
