A delightful introduction to the world of bellybuttons answers such common childhood questions as "Why do some stick out?" and "Why do I have to keep it clean anyway?" in a humorous story translated from the original Japanese text.
I put this in the kids books section, but it was bought by a friend of mine to give to his then girlfriend. He has a "thing" for belly buttons. Anyway when they broke up I ended up with it for whatever reason. I haven't looked at it in a while, but I remember laughing like crazy about the silliness of it. Then again I guess whatever works for a kid, huh?
I think this is a great book about belly buttons. We change a few of the words because it was actually Ken who cut Nakyla's cord and they put a clamp on it instead of covering it with gaze like it shows in the book. I guess it is a good way to teach that there are different ways of doing things.
This is a scientific explanation and there's lots of naked illustrations. The pictures of many different types of bellybuttons on the back page is a little eerie.
Tetchan contemplates his bellybutton with his animal friends. And there's a nice shot of him hanging on to his mom by the umbilical cord. What else could you ask for in a book?
a great book for little ones... does double-duty explaining why we have bellybuttons and also how a baby grows in mommy's tummy (without going into too much detail). my 3 y/o loved it!
