Interesting and while some of the advice for places is fabulous, you apparently have to be careful. I live in Utah and when I got to the Utah section, I was laughing so hard my sides hurt. There was some good, accurate information and some that I just had to post to social media sites because it was so off, but other than that it seemed fairly good and comprehensive. You may want to check your facts though.
Not just for writers - if you want to know more about different regions in the US, this is a great primer. I tested it on the Maryland/Baltimore section and it was pretty good! Even better though is the "further reading" section after each state or city. A wonderful resource!
If you want to write a book set in North America, I highly recommend this book. It lists not only various traits of places across the continent, but what locals would eat, what they would know, what they would brag about and what they would like to forget. Also listed are addition source such as books, movies, and websites.
I borrowed this from a friend and now I have got to get a copy for my own shelves.
