Amethyst in the Key of D

Rate this book
Daniel is an out of control rock star whose habits have his manager and his doctor in an uproar. Trouble is he just can't face life without his addictions, completely unable to give them up as long as he's on the road. His life changes when he meets painter Eric, or Amethyst, wandering into the man's shop one day on a whim. Amethyst's paintings fascinate Daniel, and the man himself is an addiction he never wants to give up. Even if he has to leave all of the rest behind.

Color, music and hot sex with the story in the backseat.Didn`t bother me much I really liked Rob Knight`s writing style - somewhere between B.A. Tortuga and Sean Michael - that hit all the right notes.
Short phrases with one/two word dialogue that almost was chant-like and extremely repetitive - I found that very erotic.
Very much a taste thing you`ve been warned...

Oh god. I love this. It blew my mind.

Just a short story and a lot is said between the lines, but the intensity is staggering.

Sex and sex and more of that, but somehow it all feels like something else entirely. Passion, yes, and intensity. Really, even though it is about the sex, it's not. Instead about abandon and that just-right-ness.

Musician Daniel feels and thinks in music, artist Amethyst in colours. Summed up like that makes it sound simple but in actuality it’s magical and all-encompassing.

Those two? They’re a perfect fit. There’s no questioning of anything. They just meet and want and need. And there’s love, too, even though the growing of it happens between the bits we see. It really works, regardless. They’re just like two pieces that fit together perfectly after having been broken apart before they ever met.

All in all, this is a beautiful story. Strange, but completely wonderful.

Without reservations this goes into my list of best and most beloved stories ever.

As with all Torquere stuff, this made absolutely no sense.

I mean, it kind of does as long as you don't think about it. Then you start wondering where it fits into any long-run scheme and it falls to pieces.

Still, they make good abstract character pieces.
