After all the Spring Fairies audition for the Springtime Dance and the beautiful Narcissus Fairy gets the part as the lead, her initial excitement begins to wane as her nerves take over and she suddenly worries that she won't be able to perform her important role on the night of the big event.
Cicely Mary Barker was the illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies; those ethereal smiling children with butterfly wings. As a child she was influenced by the works of the illustrator Kate Greenaway, whom she assiduously copied in her formative years. Her principal influence, however, was the artwork of the Pre-Raphaelites.
This is one of the very small books based on the Flower Fairies and has artwork from and based on Cecily Barker's work, meaning it's very beautiful artwork. The text part, though, as in the other books in this unusual cover series, is passable but not great.
