Join Cow as the brave bovine searches for a way home, writes an autobiography, and shuns celebrity. Throughout this hilarious tale, readers will get a giggle out of Cow’s mixed-up vocabulary as Cow meets “cats” that honk, “pigs” that baa, and a herd of scary “frogs” that look very familiar. Straightforward language and on-location photography transform a lovable squish toy into a larger-than-life personality.Spot squish on cover gives readers a touch of Cow.Simple wordplay will delight young audiences.Charming gift for cow collectors.More adventures of Cow to come.
I think somebody must have smoked a big blunt before coming out with this one ... or maybe it's just that I'd need to hit the bong myself before this would start to make sense for me. Why does the cow not recognize other animals? Or even cows? Does the author really think their puns are that amusing? The cow is on tv because he's standing on one oh harharhar ... What is the point of this? Would even a first-grader think this is cute or amusing? I doubt it. Read for low-grade humour and mediocre pictures. That's all that you'll find.
The "Adventures of Cow" was a very different take on picture books. I love mystery books so I was excited to read this genre of picture book. The "Adventures of Cow" is a very hilarious story about a cow, Holstein, and her adventurous journey to make it back home. She encounters numerous other animals such as cats that honk, pigs that baaa like a sheep, and spooky frogs. I have been told that I have a strange sense of humor so that is probably why I liked this book, but it's definitely not a book for everyone.
I think this book was written for adults and children because it has a lot of double-meaning jokes. I think this would be best for first graders.
Adventures of Cow is an irreverent and hilarious story about the journey of Cow, a squishy plastic Holstein, as she tries to make it back home. On the way, Cow encounters honking cats, baa-ing pigs, and herds of scary frogs!
This is definitely a book for those with an offbeat and even strange sense of humor. There are certain books written with both the child and the adult in mind, and this is one of my favorites of the bunch. If you enjoy Mo Willems or Dav Pilkey, this is the book for you and your kiddo!
It might be the time of night and the sugar, but I laughed so hard at this. I laughed until everyone got worried about me and I had tears in my eyes. My favorite part was the "scary herd of frogs" that were actually... ! Also Cow is adorable and I like that the book cover is a little bit squishy.
A tiny plastic cow keeps getting things wrong on his visit to a farm. Cow is featured in color photographs of live animals. On the second page Cow calls a donkey a BIG DOG. Children love correcting cow. A very fun story to share.
I know this is meant to be funny but as humor it is a modest success. Our students are frequently doing "farm" projects (this is Iowa) but this book will not be particularly helpful in learning about farms. The language is simple enough for kindergarteners, but the humor will appeal more to second or third graders.
Thoroughly clever and charming. Miraculously obtuse, Cow misinterprets everything that happens, yet still manages to come out right in the end. As funny for adults to read as it is for kids. Highly recommended.
Cleverly written autobiography of a rubber toy cow who ends up outside and then misidentifies every animal he comes in contact with when asking for directions back home. Real photos help make this a unique "fiction" book.
This is a really creative and funny book that is great for older preschoolers. I thought about using it for a silly storytime, but the edition we have at my library is small and I worried about the audience being able to see the illustrations. Also, younger preschoolers may not get it.

One of the best and funniest children's books I've ever read. I can't read it without laughing out loud. One should read this to children who already have enough understanding of the world to know irony and misspeak. Otherwise it might be confusing to a child.
