Why did I get this? Granted, it was one of those penny books where they charge $3.99 for shipping on Amazon so it's not a question of money. But the worth in this book is probably what you'd expect from a $4 book. I think the first edition of this one came out in 1990 something and it probably made a lot more sense then before you could find about 99% of the information contained in these pages on the internet. For the love of all that is holy don't pay cover price or anything close to it for this.

The one thing that saves this book is the fact that it's well put together in terms of how it flows from one subject to the next and ties all of the various areas together. I did get a few ideas about how to better utilize some areas of my yard, but I probably could have gotten those from haunting the home and garden websites for an equal amount of time.

Not that I am ever going to have time to put any of this landscaping knowledge to use, but if I did, this book certainly makes even designing your own secret garden seem easy.
