Olawale Gladstone Emmanuel Rotimi, best known as Ola Rotimi (13 April 1938 – 18 August 2000), was one of Nigeria's leading playwrights and theatre directors. He has been called "a complete man of the theatre – an actor, director, choreographer and designer – who created performance spaces, influenced by traditional architectural forms."
While I was in High school, I was auditioned and chosen, alongside my younger brother, Fiyin Aponmade (Now a Barrister), to partake in the rendition of this drama, "If", by Ola Rotimi. My role was Kojo and also doubled as Onyema with Isiosia Mrakpo (Son to Hilda Dokubo). Staring in this play with me were theatre/motion picture bigwigs; Richard Mofe Damijo, Hilda Dokubo, Joke Silva, amongst other great names of the profession. National Theatre & Muson Centre were sold out. Really great play that talks about the society.
