The Enforcer is the fourth book in the Kisses and Crimes series. It can be read as a standalone as I have never read the other books in the series. This was also my first Natalie Wrye book and it won’t be my last! The Enforcer is Javier and Delilah's story. They were high school sweethearts but they haven't seen each other in a long time. He's FBI, she's a mom and bakery owner. They couldn't be more different and to say Delilah is shocked to see Javi again is a gross understatement. He saved her, but now he needs her. She hates him and doesn't want to get involved in anything to do with him. Javier never forgot Delilah. He doesn't particularly want to be around her, but he needs her. She has information he needs to do his job. His brain says no but his body says yes. Can these two get over their anger and work together before it's too late? Does someone else have to die? This story has all the goodness. Romance, suspense, lies, deceit, humor, and intrigue. I was sucked in from the very first page and couldn't read fast enough! I had to know how it was going to end. Overall, I gasped, laughed, cried, got very worried and felt hopeful.
This book is a stand-alone but I’d recommend reading the other books first. I liked the book but I did feel like it jumped around a lot....it was interesting and kept me reading and guessing. Javi works for the FBI and is a professional liar and Del owns a bakery and has secrets of her own. Javi and Delilah have been fighting their attraction to each other for the longest time and when they finally give in there are still secrets and lies and you don’t know how to take anything that’s going on. Both of them are always hiding something and I had no idea what they were hiding or why. Everything comes together in the end and Javi and Del get their happy ever after....If you like trying to figure stuff out this one is for you.
The Enforcer is the fourth book in the Kisses and Crimes series. It can be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading the series to get the full story and the connections between the characters. I have been waiting for this book. Javi’s story. He is one mysterious man and now we get to know more about him.
Fifteen years. That’s how long it’s been since he saw her. Delilah Castalano. Now Castalano-Cook. The one girl who made him want to be good. For her. For himself. He might be an FBI Agent but that doesn’t mean all the bad parts of him went away. They were still there lingering. He didn’t want to get her mixed up in this mess but he had no other choice. She was the only witness left. The one who put an Enforcer for the mob in prison. The only one who could help find the new one. She was once a journalist in New York. Now, she is a wife, mother, and bakery owner in San Francisco. Living the fairytale life that she always wanted.
Delilah’s life is not what she thought it would be. But at least she and her daughter were safe. Until now. One minute she was baking and the next she had a gun to her head. And once again, Javi was there to safe her. Her hero. Except he was also the boy turned man who would twist her life even more. He needed her. She needed him. She didn’t want to. She especially didn’t want him. In more ways than one. He always made her weak in the knees but she couldn’t go there now. Her life was on the line. His career was too. But, what will happen when she can’t resist the pull anymore?
Javi and Delilah’s relationship is complicated. They have a past. She was a good girl. He was the bad boy who saw through her. She had a little bad within. She still did. She had that defiance in her eyes. She also had innocence that she wanted to stay hidden. But he knew her more than anyone even after fifteen years. She hated it. Hated that he still affected her. He loved it but also needed to fight the attraction. She was a witness. A married witness. A mother. She wasn’t just a woman who he could run off with.
Yes. This is a romance but there is more to the story. Secrets. Lies. Suspense. Politics. The mob. They are both hiding things. What will happen when all of their secrets come out?
Overall...It’s a great addition to the series! I have been waiting for Javi’s story and it was worth the wait. The twists. The turns. The up and downs. The suspense. The love. The passion. The sexiness. It had it all.
P.S. She is married but separated.
Quotes:
Javi was never a simple man—even when he wasn’t a man yet.
I’m nobody’s hero. Much less my own.
“Del, I’ve wanted you from the moment I saw you. And what I feel now… the word ‘want’ wouldn’t even do justice.”

The Enforcer is the fourth book in the Kisses & Crime series and can be read as a standalone – which is great because this is my first Natalie Wrye book! I was definitely really excited about this book, that synopsis sounds flipping amaze-balls. Second chance, childhood romance back in action with a little crime – yes please and thank you!
Told from two perspectives, Delilah and Javi who were high school sweethearts now seeing one another for the first time in fifteen years. Delilah is a married woman (currently going through separation), taking care of their child while dealing with the aspect that she is the last witness for an FBI investigation one that is being headed up with Javi. Delilah is in a place in her life where she didn’t think this would be her situation – definitely not how her life should or would have turned out. I like this a lot about her personality because as the reader you sympathize with her situation a great deal. Javi on the other hand is her savior in more ways than one, both in her past and now in her present. He is a possessive, passionate male lead who is definitely our brooding hero.
Javi and Delilah’s relationship is a lot of back and forth between the two. Both really stuck on their past emotions towards each other which really evolved into more seeing each other after all these years. It is definitely complicated. Wrye does do an amazing job at bringing the gaps of their history into the storyline. The way Delilah was the good girl in school until Javi came into the mix, seeing right through her facade. Now in the present their passion and attractions towards one another is still strong as ever – they really needed one another.
Though I liked the characters there was just a huge difficulty connecting with their dynamics, which in turn made me less invested in the storyline. The suspense and politics that trailed their budding romance was interesting, but because I could not enjoy the characters enough I more or less started to skim read. I hate to admit that, but I enjoyed their chemistry but for me it just did not flow the way I thought it should have.
Overall, I liked The Enforcer, but with some of my personal pet peeves clouding the way, I just do not think I was able to connect enough with the characters. I definitely want to try other books from Natalie, just thinking maybe Kisses & Crime Series is just not for me. Nonetheless, I did laugh, I swooned and the suspense was really enticing.
Decent novel, but missed its mark for me. The story and the characters were good, but I just wasn’t drawn into it like I wanted to be. This story has a bit of mystery and romance, with a whole lot of action. This story is a stand-alone. The plot of this book is what got me interested at first. A woman on the run from a shady past. A man from her past there to help her? What more could you ask for? Honestly, not much usually, but I was disappointed. There was a certain aspect of the book that I just couldn’t get past. When I started reading it I thought that the author was going to give me a reason to excuse this aspect, but I was let down when I wasn’t really given a good enough reason. Delilah is a good character. I liked her attitude and spunk. I was disappointed in her actions though. She made decisions that I just wasn’t sure I could get behind. Then you have Javi. He is a pretty strong character. I liked how protective he is. He also made decisions I couldn’t get behind though. The heat in this book was there. I feel this heat could have been better received for me if I was more invested in the story. I don’t think there was anything wrong with the heat, just my lack of interest by the time I got there. With that being said, this book does have a bit of heat. The writing style of this book was good. The pace was steady and the characters were written well. The plot was written well too. This is a good story, just not a story for me. While everything was done well, it just wasn’t the book for me. Overall, this was a good book. I cannot deny that it was written well and the plot was interesting. I just couldn’t get past some aspects that just weren’t for me. So for me, this is not a 5 star book. While I think that this book could be amazing for others, it just wasn’t a favorite of mine personally. Ratings: Plot: 4/5 Characters: 3/5 Heat: 5/5 Writing Style: 3/5 Overall: 3/5
It's not a secret that I'm a Natalie Wrye fan. She brings a true definition of a dominating suited up alpha male, which makes me one very happy reader. The Enforcer is a sexy suspenseful read. The chemistry between the main characters sends chills down my spine.
Javier (Javi) Mondello is my suited up FBI agent and a man on a mission. His need to protect a witness brings him to a former high school love. He will bend over backwards in more ways than one to protect this single mother. Will he be able to protect the witness when old memories and feelings are hard to avoid?
Delilah Castalano is a single mom, who is separated from her husband. She owns a bakery and is now in the middle of an FBI case when she witnesses a crime. She is one feisty and stubborn character but will protect her daughter at all cost. It's the attraction for the guy she loved in high school that might just be what she needs to avoid, too bad he's now in charge of protecting her and her daughter. All she can do now is work together with the man that broke her heart to find the Enforcer before he finds her.
The Enforcer is the fourth book in the series and it's filled with amazing chemistry, secrets, and lies. The politics and mob aspect brings the suspense and all the twist and turns that had me on the edge of my seat.
High school sweethearts, are they able to get a second chance at love? A lot has changed in 15 years and yet some things stay the same. Javi is a professional liar and man does he keep you on your toes while reading. We also have Delilah who works and owns a bakery. Her life gets turned upside down and honestly you don't even fully know what part Javi has in this until the end anyway, which seriously make you super invested in this story. It is pretty high action and add in some smoking chemistry between Javi and Delilah. I don't love that she isn't officially divorced though, so that is my biggest and pretty much only negative.
This book like I said is so much more then romance, but you do get to enjoy that, it is politics, the mob, trying to save lives and ruin others...it is so much of everything that almost any genre of romance could really enjoy this....I love a good suspense story and this one did not disappoint. It is told in dual POV which is my absolute favorite and that does not disappoint either...and yet, still doesn't help you figure things out early. Great overall story.
The Enforcer, the 4th book in the Kisses and Crimes series is, imo, the BEST of the bunch! Like all the books in this series, it is ADDICTIVE....but there's just something about The Enforcer that had me SWOONING extra hard and sitting a little bit closer to the edge of my seat!
To start with, Javi Mondello is an ABSOLUTE wet-dream-come-to-life!!! He was soooooo frreaken HAWT, such a bad-boy with a heart of gold~you simply couldn't help but fall HOPELESSLY, COMPLETELY in love with him! And Delilah Castalano-Cook is the perfect heroine-in-distress foil for FBI agent Javi! When she finds herself in the most dire of circumstances, the INTENSE drama kept me turning the pages faster than I wanted to!! The gut-wrenching twists and turns, the OFF-THE-CHARTS CHEMISTRY between these two simply SIZZLED off my kindle....I couldn't get enough!!!
This book left me wanting MORE, in the BEST possible way....AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!! Natalie Wrye has become one of my go-to, auto one-click authors who NEVER disappoints!!!
Another cat and mouse game ensues when FBI agent Javier has to convince his former girlfriend to help him with information about the Gafanelli Mob in his effort to stop Senator Fletcher’s devious plans. This story has twists and turns that kept me guessing and I liked learning more about Delilah who is Penelope’s sister. A dramatic and sexy storyline with a happily ever after ending. I listened to the audiobook version and I enjoyed the narration performances of Alan Carlson and Avie Paige.
The mystery and suspense is thick in this latest book in the Kisses and Crimes series. Javi, now working for the FBI, and baker Del, originally knew each other when they were teenagers. A perceived threat to Del’s life causes their paths to cross for the first time in 15 years. Will they be able to work together to discover the identity of the mob’s latest hitman or will their feelings for each other have them combusting before the puzzle has been solved?
The story has a slightly different feel to the others in the series. It’s fast paced and I did feel that it jumped around a lot, which left me a little confused at times. However, there’s a lot of lovely sexual tension between these two and their chemistry is hot and steamy. There are many hidden secrets and lies told, which keep you on your toes right to the end. The story wraps up with several surprising revelations and questions answered and concludes with a lovely, sweet and funny epilogue.
This book kept me guessing! It was deliciously dark, incredibly sexy, all out action-packed, intense and thrilling. This is one of those romances you devour in one sitting because of all the shocking twists. I loved that the romance was both HOT and made me ache in the BEST way while the twists made my heart pick up constantly and made me feel wide awake and on edge.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these Kisses & Crimes series! And The Enforcer so far, is my most favorite one. The characters really call to me. Their passion is bright and hot...like a super-nova and I could practically FEEL the heat with every sexual tension encounter. It was pleasurable and so good!
The Enforcer gets a HOT AND WILD FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
Natalie has recently separated from her husband and has opened a bakery to support herself and her daughter but it was the crime that she witnessed that has brought her high school attraction Javi back into her life.
Javi has tried to leave his bad boy ways in the past and is now an FBI Agent. He has been sent to recruit her to help with his assignment but ends up rescuing her from a dangerous situation. Now they only need to deny the chemistry between them so they can stay focused on the task in front of them but will they be able to?
Their adventure is filled with secrets, twists, suspense and romance. I have enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Delilah's life is falling apart at the seams. Her high school flame bursts back into her life needing a favour, but what will she have to give up in return? Dodging corrupt political machinations, mafia henchmen out for blood and uncovering some very surprising secrets along the way, Delilah & Javi are in for the ride and time of their lives.
This book has a lot of good action, drama, heat & suspense, but I felt it was overshadowed by how choppy the story line became; jumping forward and then backward, forcing the reader to fill in blanks and connect scattered dots. I haven't yet read the other books in the series, so maybe that's why I didn't feel a connection here.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
The Enforcer is the 4 book in the Kisses and Crime Series. and is soo good as the other books in this series!!! I lovee that Natalie mix suspense drama with romance, making a great story that will capture your attention from the beginning!!!
Delilah and Javi are two persons so different one of them think that is life is perfect until discovers that is not so true... they knew each other in the past but they will going to have to be in contact because they will need to work together to solve some situations and maybe who knows meanwhile the chemistry will spark again between them!
This story is soo good! if you like suspense and romance you NEED to read this book!!!
Well, as usual, this author has outdone herself with the 4th book in the Kisses & Crimes Series! This book moves from page 1 and never stops! Suspenseful, edgy, steamy, sexy -- it has it all. I couldn't wait for Javi and Del's story and it didn't disappoint--Javi is everything I wanted him to be and more. He's incredibly sexy and hot with a side of sweet & swoony! This is a standalone in this series, but I would most definitely recommend reading the previous books if you want to get the whole picture of all the characters in all their glory. Another 10+ star read if you like suspenseful, mysterious & sexy storylines! Excellent read!
My first read from Natalie Wrye but it was a really good one!! I haven’t read any of the other books in this series but I don’t think it took anything away from the story... Javi is a lethal FBI agent, he’s a tough as alpha and has his sights set on his high school girlfriend and now FBI witness Delilah. The one woman he wants but knows he can’t have, she’s a fiesty recently single Mum/business owner who will make him work for what he wants. This book had so many twists and turns but it was an epic roller coaster ride with an ending in never saw coming!!

The Enforcer is the fourth novel in the Kisses and Crimes series. It can be read as a standalone. This story is fast paced, full of action and suspense that I couldn't help but read it all at once. The twists and turns will keep you guessing till the end. The characters were likeable, and you could feel their scorching chemistry pouring off the pages. I liked them. Such an entertaining story!
