Kyo and company finally set foot in the Mibu headquarters! While fighting off Mibu's onslaught of assassins, Bentenmaru and Akira fall into an enemy trap! During the battle Tokito appears, a member of the Taishirou, who knows some surprising news...
Akimine Kamijyo (上条明峰 Kamijō Akimine?, born September 13, 1975, Kanagawa Prefecture) is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating Samurai Deeper Kyo. The name 'Akimine Kamijyo' is merely her pen-name. Her doujinshi work was done under the name 'Meika Hatagashira' (伯明華?).
Her second series was Shirogane no Karasu also known as Silver Crow. It started on May 30, 2007 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine and ended after 3 volumes.
So my biggest take away from this one is that Tokito is a little weirdo. But I am a fan of how Tokito predicted that Akira would use rocks to wake Bontenmaru, just not how big of a rock he would end up resorting to in the end. Also ew at Kyo touching Yuya like that.
Today’s post is on Samurai Deeper Kyo Volume 15 by Akimine Kamijyo. It is published by Tokyopop and is the 15th in the series. You need to have read the previous volumes to understand the story. The cover has Kyo, Yukimura, Benitora, and Sasuke on it looking cool. There is language, implied nudity, and lots of violence in this book and series; older teen and adults only. The story is told from god prespective with character thought’s added in for plot and character development. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Kyo and company finally penetrate the Mibu headquarters. Later, while fighting off an onslaught of Mibu assassins, Bontenmaru and Akira fall into an enemy trap! But when Bontenmaru encounters Tokito of the Four Elders, he learns an amazing secret… The action-packed samurai epic continues!
Review- Kyo and Yuya have so many great interactions in this volume. They argue, they ignore each other, and then they talk about it. The picture of a healthy and loving relationship that makes me laugh. Bontenmaru gets his own chapter. We learn more about what drives him and yay! Akira is a main character now! We do not see too much of him but I am so happy that he is here and here to stay now. Saskue and Benitora are getting closer to being back with the main group and that gives us the chance to see into the Mibu testing labs. One thing that I really like about Kamijyo’s art style is that she does not over do the gore. In the test labs she could have made it really gory and I think that would have taken away from the story and character development. But because she did not go that way I think that makes the blood that is there more impactful. With time running out for Yuya the pressure is on. I love this series.
I give this manga a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
At long last, Kyo and the gang finally reach the Mibu Castle in Samurai Deeper Kyo, Volume 15. Unfortunately, reaching the castle was the easiest part of this already treacherous journey. From the moment they set foot onto Mibu territory, they are met with resistance every step of the way.
The battles in this volume are intense and wrought with gut-wrenching emotion. With every flip of the page, my anxiety levels caused my heart to race. Having read this series before, I know that this is only the beginning. The nail-biting volumes are soon to come! Woohoo!
Our group gets separated and Kyo and Yuya meet up with Hotaru. Bontenmaru and Akira get swallowed up in a pit, where Bontenmaru battles with Tokito (one of the four elders). Sasuke battles with Dr. White- his creator. So sad! The test subjects help save Sasuke and Benitora, with a quick glimpse of Yukimura. Sasuke now has a new fire burning in him and he wants all Mibu dead and wants to destroy The Crimson King.
It's been a while since I read the last volume, but it doesn't matter. I got just as sucked in as before and I look forward to continuing this series.
Most of the gang has reunited and entered the land of the Mibu, where obstacles (in the form of someone or someones bent on killing them) awaits them at every turn. We also learn the terrible secret truth of Sasuke's origins.
There were some nice and surprising revelations of the relationships that continue to grow. A dark secret is revealed regarding the Mibu clan and one of the characters. The artwork continues to be well-done.
The story is a bit dull when it starts off with Yuya and Kyoshiro. But as you progress, the plot thickens and newly cast members introduced piece by piece make this manga unique and a bit of a masterpiece. There are two main story lines: 1- Yuya is looking for the man that killed her brother and 2- Kyo is searching for his true body to exact his revenge. Every other plot in between just adds fuel to the story and lets you learn of the diverse background of many characters, friends or foes. The story itself was captivating and it is a shame that many people know of this series.
The art style refined over time, giving the battle scenes flaws execution. The each character had their own torments and demons to deal with but I would have to say that certain individuals needed more evolution or better backstory. The end was well received and left no stone unturned.
I have watched the anime adaptation and I don't recommend it. It doesn't do it justice.
