It wasn't given for granted, but the author could have done a more poorly work by writting this book. The reading is quite good. Also, we should mention that the reading list about wxWidget is pretty limited. Limited to this book, in fact.
On the less bright side, there was a confusion of target : is this book an introductory text à la Petzold or is it a reference book ? It can't be both but unfortunately the authors tried. And here's come the notation.
