General Semantics' principles misapplied to promote the author's thesis : New Age is perfectly rational, not like all other religious superstitions.
The author applies some GS principles while omitting the most relevant ones to her claim. She based all her argumentation on an elementalist point of view, in total disregard to GS's non-elementalist precept.
My professor gave me this to read after I told him I really liked a passage from it-- it was a good pick on his part, as this passage was the best of the sections.
My believes didn't change, nor were they swayed much. In fact, what I got out of this most were a couple new facts. For example, do you know the Eskimos say the 'Seal of God' as they have no lambs there, but plenty of seals?
A friend of mine recommended it who said it was life changing. Honestly, I could only get halfway through. Great ideas, but written in a kind of preachy über-intellectual style. I found the writing style fairly dry even though the topics were interesting, but quite honestly already familiar.
This was an exciting find for me. It put into words many things that I have thought and introduced me to a field of literature and thought that I plan to mine for golden nuggets
