New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann returns with two classic tales of courageous men who face the most daring adventure of all—falling in love.
Prince Joe
Media consultant Veronica St. John has been hired to teach a rugged Navy SEAL to impersonate a European prince who has been targeted by terrorists. But one conversation and Veronica knows there's no way she can turn streetwise New Yorker Joe Catalanotto into nobility. Joe, on the other hand, is confident he's got what it takes to complete his mission. Two days isn't a lot of time to get the job done…but it's just enough time to fall in love.
Forever Blue
Lucy Tait has fantasized about Blue McCoy since high school. With the Navy SEAL back in town, nothing's changed…except that Lucy's a police officer and Blue's been charged with murder. As the investigation heats up, so does their relationship. Now they're working to save Blue's future—before they lose their hearts.
After childhood plans to become the captain of a starship didn’t pan out, Suzanne Brockmann took her fascination with military history, her respect for the men and women who serve, her reverence for diversity, and her love of storytelling, and explored brave new worlds as a bestselling romance author.
Over the past thirty years she has written sixty-three novels, including her award-winning Troubleshooters series about Navy SEAL heroes and the women—and sometimes men—who win their hearts. Her personal favorite is the one where her most popular character, gay FBI agent Jules Cassidy, wins his happily-ever-after and marries the man of his dreams. Called All Through the Night, this mainstream romance novel with a hero and a hero hit the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list. In 2007, Suz donated all of her earnings from this book, in perpetuity, to MassEquality, to help win and preserve equal marriage rights in Massachusetts.
In addition to writing books, Suz writes and produces indie movies and TV including the award-winning romantic comedy The Perfect Wedding. Her recent feature, Out of Body, is streaming on Amazon Prime.
In 2018, Suz was given the Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award from the Romance Writers of America. Her latest projects are Blame It on Rio (Tall, Dark & Dangerous # 14), available in print and e-book from Suzanne Brockmann Books, and Marriage of Inconvenience, a six-episode LBGTQ rom-com TV series, streaming on Dekkoo in April 2023.
TD&D contains the first two instalments from Suzanne Brockmann's Tall Dark and Dangerous series which is in the process of being re-released as 2-in-1's with fancy new (and quite sexy) covers. These well written, quickie romances are totally addictive, with delicious alpha male heroes and just the right amount of action, suspense and melodrama to keep you coming back for more. While each of these can be read as stand-alones as with all romantic series they seem to work best when read in order due to the continuing or evolving story arcs.
Brockmann uses proper military lingo throughout, giving us larger than life Navy SEALs, capable of anything it seems except falling in love easily. Each story is also just different enough that it feels fresh and unique while still connecting the series as a whole. The love scenes are soft yet still erotic (requiring just slightly more imagination and without the dirty words) and her amazing dialogue will draw you in, making the whole falling in love within days seem plausible. This is a fun, sexy, exciting series and I dare you not to fall for any member of SEAL team tens alpha squad.
First up is Prince Joe my favourite of the 2 stories which introduces us to the Team and its Lieutenant Joe Catalanotto. In a twist of fate Joe is the exact look-alike for the Crown prince of (the fake country) of Ustanzia so when an assassination attempt is made on the Prince's life Joe is sent in to impersonate him for the remainder of his US tour. Media consultant Veronica St John is given the seemingly impossible task of transforming this rugged and stubborn sailor into royalty, teaching him proper etiquette, protocol and the unique accent and mannerisms of the prince. At fist Joe frustrates `Ronnie' because he doesn't appear to be taking his job seriously but she soon realises that Joe is much more then he appears. Willing to take a bullet for a man he doesn't know and even shed a tear. Before long the "L" word is floating around with Joe feeling that he's not good enough for her because of his blue collar background and Ronnie trying not to fall for a man that risks his life on a daily basis and enjoys it. Lots of angst here folks.
In Forever Blue Carter "Blue" McCoy returns to his hometown to attend his stepbrothers wedding, it's a little awkward because he's marrying Blue's former high school sweetheart. However that soon becomes the least of his problems as that night Blue and Gerry get into a very public heated argument and by morning his stepbrother is dead. Of course Blue is the primary suspect and with the entire town already seeing him convicted its up to rookie police officer Lucy Tait to clear his name. She's had a case of hero worship for Blue ever since he rescued her from some bullies when she was 15. Watching his career in the Navy and the SEALS she knows that he's not a killer but what she doesn't know is that he's not the hero she thinks he is either. Palpable sexual tension, blush worthy police pat downs, car chases and gunplay make this another great story.
This writer spends way too much time on the feelings of the guy and girl and the doubts. Seriously, get on with the incredible stories. One hostage situation on a cruise ship and the next page the SEAL team is already on the boat. Way to much time spent on feelings. I mean we get it!
Prince Joe, the first of the two stories was typical boy from wrong side of tracks falls in love with girl from right side of tracks. But that's where it differs as well.
Forever Blue, is the second book in the series and is about hero worship and love, murder and misunderstandings.
I won't give a long synopsis of the book, the author already has. I will tell you if you like reading about the military and people who live with military personnel, you will love reading anything by Suzanne Brockmann.
What makes stories with similar themes unique is the personalities of the people in the book. And when you think of it, life is very much the same. Our complexities are what make us different.
I think the reason I love Suzanne Brockmann's writing so much is her complex characters. She doesn't shy away from difficult subjects either. The stories are realistic and relate-able, and very humorous.
I could say more but you should take my word and just read one book and you will be hooked.
This is two books in one volume. Prince Joe: Godawful. Joe is an a@@hole Forever Blue: Marginally better. Except there is one point in the story where Blue says "you leave that door open and unlocked tonight, and I'm going to take it as the invitation it is." What kind of rapist logic is that? That's not sexy! Also, the female lead, Lucy, is in the running for Worst Cop Ever. I've seen enough episodes of Law and Order to know that the lead investigator should not invite the main suspect to camp out in her guest room.
Both stories suffer from constant point-of-view changes. I generally like seeing the story from the perspective of more than one character, but most books change over at the next chapter, or at least after a page break. Brockmann just changes back and forth willy-nilly, and it pulled me out of the story every time.
I loved This Navy Seal..Blue is a wounded (emotionally) guy going back to his step brother's wedding. His brother is marrying Blue's high school sweet heart. But...when Blue see's her he doesn't feel anything for her. His brother is murdered after the big party before his wedding. The whole town is against Blue and everything they find in the murder investagation points to Blue. Only Lucy believes him that he didn't do it. She has always had a crush on him since she was 15 yrs old. He was a senior when she was a freshman so he didn't pay attention to her. Now...he see's Lucy in a different light. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out just who was framing Blue.
This book has 4 stories in it, so I'm still reading it off and on. I think I liked this story more than the first story, PRINCE JOE.
Just finished Tall, Dark and Dangerous which includes the two books - Prince Joe and Forever Blue. And I can't tell you which one I enjoyed more. I loved them both. Two very different tales of Suzanne's incredible SEALs and both thoroughly lickable men.
Joe has to assume the identity of a prince to save his life, as well as the lovely media consultant.Veronica assisting him. Rough, New Jersey Joe has to come off as polished, educated and even more charming than the prince. The scene with Cindy will shatter your heart.
Blue, the southern good ole boy returns to his childhood home to watch his step brother marry his old girlfriend. When the groom is murdered, Blue is set up to take the blame. Good thing the little girl he had helped so long ago, Lucy is a policewoman now.
I loved this book! I had been looking for this book for quite a while when I heard they were going to reprint Prince Joe and Forever Blue together in one addition. I just had to wait until release date. Man that was a long wait! But totally worth it. I fell for both of these hot characters. Joe is ballsy and brash, yet a definate Hero. Blue is a little more brooding, but hot, hot, hot! You can't help but fall for them. I found both stories good and enjoyed their reads. I can't wait for the next re-release to come out. Tall Dark and Fearless comes out Sept 2010. Whoo Hoo!
Prince Joe 2.7 Stars. Public Library 4/20/15. I've read the books in this series out of order (not that any order is needed because each acts as a standalone) but it may have skewed my expectations. I was disappointed in the situation and the h/H as characters. I could've lived with the prince swap and the SEAL as a body double if more time was spent actually teaching him the mannerisms of the man he was replacing and less time with Ronnie obsessing. Now her obsessing over lack of time and his lackadaisical attitude is totally justified but it being mixed with her obsessing over his cuteness wore thin quick. Now Joe AKA Mr. talented should've known the importance of installing trust in a member of his team. Instead of showing her how talented/capable he is, he chooses to discount her opinion and professional advice. He kept telling her don't worry I got this... I'm sorry but that does not instill confidence or trust. Joe constantly has a low opinion of her and rushes to judgement. The lack of respect bugged me so I didn't feel the deep love or commitment. Let's hope his BFF Blue does better!
Forever Blue 2.7 Stars. Public Library 4/21/15. Blue goes back to his hometown to watch his brother marry his his HS sweetheart when trouble erupts and he's arrested for murder. With limited options he turns to Lucy a girl that had a crush on him in HS. Lucy might have been a couple years younger then Blue but since the moment he saved her for a pack of bullies he's been the only man for her. As they work together to clear Blue's name the line between friend and lover blur. I enjoyed this story idea more but feel like the end wrapped but too quickly. The author took so long in revealing all the players in the crime I think a little more time should've been spent going over how everything went down and was resolved. I'm beginning to see a pattern of dismissive and condensing men...
This was my very first Suzanne Brockmann book and I love it as much now as I did then. Now that she has wrapped the Troubleshooters books I decided to go back and reread the Tall, Dark & Dangerous books because I only read a few of them the first time around.
Prince Joe is a classic romance story with a SEAL twist. Veronica is a media consultant who has to make dead-ringer SEAL Joe into a Prince after the real guy gets shot at. To say that Veronica is overwhelmed by Joe is an understatement. At first all she can do is fret that the whole thing is not going to work and her business and reputation will be destroyed. Then, they are both in instant lust with each other. When Veronica finds Joe has some really deep feelings, it is all over for her. She loves him and he loves her. The problem is that Joe faces danger as part of his job and Veronica just can't handle that, until Joe has to save her.
Forever Blue is one of my favorite books. This is my favorite type of a romance: the hero and heroine have a past relationship. In this case, Lucy had a crush on Blue McCoy when she was 15 and he saved her from being beat up by 5 boys who were pissed she made the junior varsity baseball team. He was her hero then and now he is back in town for his step-brothers wedding to the girl Blue dated in high school. Lucy is now a rookie police officer for the Hatboro Creek PD. A good ole boy outfit that doesn't take her seriously and go out of their way to make her look bad.
Blue's brother ends up dead, with his neck broken and Blue is the main suspect. Gerry was into some bad stuff, but no one knows what. Lucy does all she can to help and protect him and comes to know it is more than an old crush, it is love. Blue also comes to realize that when a woman puts her life on the line it is more than friendship.
Prince Joe is the first book in Suzanne Brockmann's Tall, Dark & Dangerous series, and introduces readers to SEAL Team Ten, and especially Lieutenant Joe Catalanotto whose pulled from a day relaxing on a boat with his teammates to replace a Prince on tour in the U.S. who hours earlier was targeted by an assassin as he arrived from the fictional European country Ustanzia.
And with an interesting plot, plenty of military terminology, great characters, some action and an endearing and sweet romance Prince Joe is a great start to the series and introduction to this group of SEALs.
Would recommend.
Forever Blue:
Forever Blue is the second in Ms Brockmann's Tall, Dark & Deadly series and features SEAL Team Ten's Alpha Squads second in command Blue McCoy, who returns to his hometown to attend his ex-girlfriend and stepbrother's wedding. Only to be accused of murdering the groom.
But rookie cop Lucy Tait is on-hand to help prove Blue innocent, even when the whole town and police force has decided he's guilty.
And with some action, a nicely plotted and paced mystery, likable main characters, and a sweet romance Forever Blue is an enjoyable read. But one that couldn't be more different to the first in the series.
Both stories were great , they had Action, Humor & Romance ,it was a really good read and i had so much fun reading about these characters.
Prince Joe. It was so good ,i loved Joe from the start he's totally awesome and super funny i couldn't get enough of him .
And i really liked Veronica she was pretty cool , i loved her and Joe together it as so great seeing them fall in love , they were some steamy scenes between her and joe that were pretty awesome , i really enjoyed reading their story .
Forever Blue. It was just awesome , i love Blue he's so Mmm (sigh) yummy , i loved his character since i first met him in Joe's story and i was so glad that he got his own happy ending , i loved every moment of his story.
Lucy was pretty great and she was so funny i just loved how she acted around Blue they had some great scenes and i had so much fun reading their story ,there were a few times were tears almost fell but everything was set right .
This was a great book and i really enjoyed reading both stories ,this was the 1st book that i've read By Suzanne Brockmann and i loved it and i can not wait to read the rest of this series .
Great for light reading! This book contained two different stories about members of the Navy SEAL Team Ten Alpha squad and how they found love. First is, "Prince Joe", about Joe Cat who looks enough like a prince to be his standin when the prince's life is threatened. It recounts his transformation from tough New Yorker to suave, but stiff, royalty. During this time he meets and falls in love with Veronica who is the media consultant for the prince's US tour. Both are very likable characters. It was an easy read and also very touching at times. I enjoyed this more than the second book which was "Forever Blue." This story chronicles the tribulations of Blue McCoy, a second Navy SEAL from the same team. As Blue stands accused of his step brother's murder he has only one ally, Lucy. Lucy is an acquaintance from high school who is now the police officer in charge of the investigation. After becoming friends and then friends with benefis they have to decide if this is forever. As characters, Blue and Lucy are also very likable but I thought the first story had more appeal.
The first two books in the original Brockmann SEAL series. Prince Joe: Veronica St. John is in a bind, she needs someone who can step in for her best friend's brother. He's a prince who is under threat of assassination. Luckily, there is a Navy SEAL who looks just like the prince, Joe Catalanotto. But it's not the prince who makes Veronica's heart beat faster. It's the sexy SEAL who is infuriating her, seemingly not taking her lessons seriously. But when it turns out that he's everything she needs, and more, this could be an association she wants to continue...
Forever Blue: When Carter "Blue" McCoy returns to his hometown for his step-brother's wedding... to the love of Blue's life. When his brother turns up dead, the only one who believes his innocence is little Lucy Tait, who's not so little anymore.
These are two fast, fun reads. They are contemporary so it's a little dated now but still good stories.
Hero characters are great esp Joe and Blue, but the heroines are I don't know, stupid. When you're investigating a case, you don't invite the main suspect in your home and sleep with him. At least observe proper decorum. I stopped reading in the middle and went straight to the end. I couldn't understand why the people doesn't know about SEALS? Are they that stupid? I mean they're Americans. SEALS are the best of the best, they get to do the dirtiest jobs local and international, fighting for their lives to save their country, and the countrymen is not familiar with them? And they are trained with different languages, everyone should know that. Unfortunately, Veronica doesn't know. Come on, are you stupid or what? You can always google if you're not familiar but at least do your research! I just don't get why Suzanne Brockmann underestimate the readers!
This was actually 2 short novels with similar heroes. I always enjoy Suzanne Brockman's alpha male military characters. The first story was by far the most believable and had a fast moving and interesting plot that was well solved. The second story, not so much. Great characters in that one as well, however, the plot was a complicated mystery, that was barely addressed. The reader was given a nice mystery with anticipation of how it was going to be worked out. Then, we were treated to pages of romance with sexual drama. I noticed there just were not enough pages left in the story to produce a satisfying completion to the complicated plot.
Prince Joe: A good start to the series...Brockmann only gets better with time. Joe is a very lovable character and even though I hate the name Ronnie for a girl, she wasn't so bad either. One of the things I appreciate about Brockmann's writing is that she doesn't use plot devices twice...neither does she recycle characters or scenes. It's rare to find that with authors who've written so much...I appreciate her fresh stories!
Forever Blue: I really, really liked this book! Blue and Lucy make a great couple and the plot was fantastic. I love whodunits!
Suzanne does something different when she wrote this series about a SEAL squad and the love of their lives. She doesn't just intimate and craft the story on their bravery, devotion or fortitude. She shows it! Obviously, she did her own recon into the professional side of a US Navy SEAL and provided details.
I felt like I'd won a bit of a jackpot seeing that the kindle version I bought had 4 stories. Liked them all but "Forever Blue" is my favorite so far. Lots of suspense, action and wavering heat between the hero and heroine.
Both stories were good. Have to say I liked Blues story a little bit more. Yes, some thing's in the 1st story were hard to believe but if you can look past that (cuz come on it is fiction) it was good. I can't say they were mind blowing but if your looking for a nice light read, these are the books for you.
I really enjoyed these early SEAL books of Suzanne Brockmann. Granted remember that we know a great deal more about the SEALs now then we did when these came out. In no small part because of Ms. Brockmann we learned a lot about the SEALs.
this was pretty good - two books in one. the stories had some suspense and romance, but weren't anything more special than another book. these are re-releases of some of her earlier works, so maybe that is why they weren't as good as some of her more current books.
Freaking fantastic!!! I love brockmann and she does not disappoint with her first foray into a genre she made popular. I just loved Joe! Sexy, smart but also soft hearted with the hard edges of a navy seal. Yummy!
I will definitely be reading more. Both stories were amazing. The characters seem to come to life. I also like how previous characters continue show in other stories. Makes for a more realistic storyline. There is adventure, laughs, and of course 'steam'. Don't hesitate to start this series.
#1-2 of Tall, Dark & Dangerous series! #1 is Prince Joe & #2 is Forever Blue
My favorite military series so far!! I read these books so fast and had to keep going to the book store to buy the next one because I just couldn't wait to read it. Lots of suspense and romance!
Very believable characters and strong women not simpering idiots as well as warrior men with more than muscle. I enjoyed these very much as the sex scenes weren't long drawn out and didn't happen everyother page there was actually a story and action...loved it.
Liked the first story a lot, the second had some issues for me, but still a very good read, liking the characters and that they are all in all the stories. Missed a couple, been reading them out of order, but I still get it.
If you ever read a Brockmann novel, you are going to be hooked because she combines mystery, romance with fast paced action. She specializes in stories involving the Navy SEALs. Both of these novels are hard to put down.
