Senna has always been a dedicated servant to the realm, devoted to honing her swordplay and her magic, with little care for much else. She's honest and loyal - or she would be if anyone cared to get to know her. The entire court seems to see her as a social pariah. Unfriendly. Impatient. Unapproachable. That's just fine with her, as long as they stay out of her way.
Cyrus's carefully maintained reputation is a point of pride. He's universally loved, a court darling - with one exception. From the moment she set foot in the palace, Senna, a knight his match in every way, has rubbed him the wrong way. They find themselves competing for everything, and it's easy to turn court favor against her when she's already so... unpleasant.
Their public rivalry and reputation as reliable mage-knights lands them both on the same job. Forced to work together to solve a mystery, dodge danger, and hunt down a monster, they come to question everything they thought they knew about each other.
is the second installment in a fantasy romance series featuring plus-size heroines and just a touch of divine magical intervention.
Senna and Cyrus are 😙🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 They never really stop being rivals, they keep teasing and challenging each other and I love that.
They live in the palace so there are a lot of court vibes✨, like balls, gossip and royalty.
I love when there are mysteries to solve and plot-twists and this book delivers all of that and I'm delighted! The entire investigation process, while their relationship was deepening with dramas involved, I was living for it.
There's a very small love triangle plot but you always know who the love interest is. Cyrus's pov after seeing Senna appear at a ball with another man😏
Conclusion: I liked it and I enjoyed it very much!
ARC reader here! It's also my first time being an ARC reader for something, so it's truly a pleasure!
I've always struggled with looking for books that have fantasy, romance (spice included!), and good plot that ties both together. With Star-Crossed, I felt like I found my perfect mix of captivating lore and heart-pounding romance, as I couldn't put this book down the moment I started reading it! Senna and Cyrus are amazing, and I knew from reading Ferrous Moon that Pix Pentham will not disappoint.
I absolutely love this book, and not only is this a five-star read, but Star-Crossed is one of those books that you could definitely reread from time to time!
Man it is so good to see plus size rep with a h who can also fight! I loved loved loved this book - it is one of the rare ones I actually bought rather then borrowed and it was so worth it to support this amazing author! Man, I wish more people knew about this book.
