A fresh, biblical look at relationships-a topic of utmost importance in churches focused on making disciples and fostering continual spiritual growth. The authors show that God's plan is for us to be instruments in each other's lives to bring about the transformation He desires.
The book, One Another (Transformational Relationships in the Body of Christ) by Thomas A Jones and Steve Brown is a book that has simple bible principles that will help guide you to a healthy spiritual relationship in the church. The part of the book that helps me is that it shares scripture to help one another until the sin level. That is very challenging. One time, I opened my emotional rage in my heart to a good friend in the church. At first, I felt so embarrassed, but gradually I felt the emotion cool down and replaced by a sense of peace and gratitude. I am so thankful that this book has talked to the deepest level for Christians to see how one another's relationship works. That is the reason I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Short book on working on relationships within the church (namely, how to practice the one anothers in the NT). I appreciated the focus on the Gospel being the fuel for these actions (for example, forgiving one another happens only as both parties are standing on level ground at the foot of the cross over and over). Practical examples are scattered throughout, which helped as well. For some reason, my kindle version had weird formatting, mostly with dashes between words that shouldn't be there (ex. "working in your relationships and working for your relation-ships"). Not a huge deal, but it distractingly went throughout the whole book.
Short easy to understand chapters. Spurs you on to make changes in your life. Tons of scriptural references. It was great to read this with a book club. Lovely actually.
Having bought the complete book after reading the sample left me surprised about the bad quality of the text, typos, paragraphs and the like. Once one pays to acquire a book it is just fair to expect such errors to be given proper attention. Or, is this just another money-making scheme?
